Many doctors are very supportive of vaping, some even suggest it to their patients. I have a new label for doctors like yours: "FDA .....".

As for what to tell my doctor: print out the ECF flyer and give it to them and then tell them that e-cigs have about an 80% PERMANENT cessation rate while "the patch" hovers near about 10%.

His professionalism leds me to think he got his diploma from ebay.
Any chance of changing to a real physician? Remember, Y O U are the consumer, the patient, the one paying for this service. No service, no pay. :thumb:Do NOT be imtimidated by knuckle draggers. I would have looked at HIM in horror and told him a thing or two about his "patch".
Good luck. Go get'em.

Well, at least you know more about your doctor now, then you did before. Itmis very hard to find a good doctor. I moved to the beach from the Atlanta area, and I had found a fabolous doctor there who was a vegetarian as well (I was at the time, and had been for 20 years) most doctors would look at you and tell you immediately that you are going to die if you don't eat meat, and it took me two years to find a good doctor here at the beach. I've sat in his office talking to him for up to 45 mi utes before, that's a good doc. Good luck in your search for a new one. I surely would hunt for one after something like that. I told my doctor about minemwhen I was there for a visit for my wife, was going to show him the vapor, but my battery died right when I pushed the button! He laughed about it, he thought it would do wonders with the mental addiction of cigarettes, he was pretty excited about it. My next visit with him I'm going to explain it all to him, and suggest he either tell his patients that have as hard a time quitting as me, or to let him know that they can call me. I would love to help out as many people as I could. Sorry to hear about your visit though.

thank u base. unfortunately my med insurance stinks. so goes it when u are over 50 , are self employed, self insured and have fibro. hard to get insurance at all and the rates are ugly. up until now ive been comfortable with this guy. i think some of it has to do with the age of the doc and set in his ways kind of stuff. no excuse. just is the way it appears. but hey maybe he will read if i give him some good stuff to get him started and who knows he may be a changed man after that experience. i look at it as an opportunity to open his eyes and indirectly help some ppl...... so i want to give it a shot and see what happens. got nothing to loose. and if he doesnt respond well i declare him practice for the next uneducated personw ith a bunch of letters before and or after his name lol

You can give him the information to contradict what he said but honestly it will probably fall on deaf ears! Unfortunately so many people know what they know they can't be bothered with facts! As the old saying goes how can you learn anything when you already know everything! LOL
Sorry it happened like that but you already have surpassed his knowledge! You know you quit smoking! You know you breath easier! You know you can smell and taste better! You know that Big Pharma tries to prolong treatment instead of curing! If there medicine fixed everyone they would be out of business! Just let it be an inside joke as he thinks he knows but you actually do know!
By the way I will say what he doesn't dare say! CONGRATS ON QUITTING SMOKING!

There's a good reason patches, gum, lozenges and all that other stuff doesn't work for alot of people. For a great many of us the nicotine is only part of the addiction. The physical act of smoking becomes just as much a part of the addiction as the nicotine. Your Doc, hell any doc, should be intelligent enough to realize that.

Anyone who studied Freud should know that!!! (not that I totally agree with his reasoning behind it, but all the same...) It is taught in general psychology...and ALL medical professionals have that course.....
