I own both. Well, actually at one point I had 4 Twists and a VTube from Apollo. Each serves it's own purpose. I find the VTube to be cumbersome to carry around with me "on the go" but a 650mah Twist fits in my pocket easily. Phoenix rebuildable atomizers make a Twist very top heavy so I used those on my VTube. Everything serves a purpose.

That being said, I am now the proud owner of a ZMax, so we shall see how my vaping habits change. The ZMax is shorter than the VTube and a bit thinner, tho being stainless it's heavier ... will it be viable for "on the go?" I don't know yet.

These are just my random musings that I've gathered over the last 6 months of vaping. :)

Hmm at work I am out and about for ten hours at a time in a sometimes active role. Perhaps to LT may be a bit too big for that to be workable, and I don't really just want the upgrade for home use. Any other vv models with good durability and usage that's fairly compact?

Yep. If you can wait......pretty soon you're gonna start seeing the L-rider Robust. It's got the same electronics as the Lambo 4.0 but is more compact. It uses 14500 batteries. Worth a look.

There is also the other LRider that telescopes to use various 18 series batteries. With an 18350 it looks pretty compact. There's a CoOp interest thread going for it. If I hadn't just ended up with this ZMax, I was seriously considering it. Might still at the expected CoOp price. Depends on when it goes live and my budget.

I have an L-Rider Lavatube. The vaping on it etc etc was great. I did not like the size and weight of the item nor the slipperiness of the chrome tube. With a tank on it the Lavatube is very long. If I was sitting at a computer for hours etc or possibly driving for hours it could work, otherwise I am back to the old twist.

I have both and either is a good choice depending on what you want it to do, the twist is good for people on the go & the lava tube is just great all around BUT its larger & theres a learning curve. you have to be aware of the built in safety protection on the lava tube so you will know why its not firing at full power cause of the ohms of the device your trying to use.

As many have already said, there is a time and place for both. Don't underestimate the quality control issue with the Lavatubes. I got my chrome LT v 2 for <$50 for a kit, but I had to send the first one back because the 510 threads were loose. With my replacement, the center 510 thread housing wobbles, which the tank cone mentioned earlier solves for the time being. And I find it hits a bit too hard with low resistance devices, way above the 3.0 volts I had it set at. It also sucks the life out of my 2200 mah batteries, I need to change it out every day. I only use the LT at home or in the car. That being said, all of my rebuildable attys and rebuilt Vivi Novas see a lot of time on the LT because of the resistance check and the short circuit protection, which the ego batteries don't have.

My Ego twist is my walking around and work device. Small form factor and sleek with a Phoenix or a mini Vivi Nova. Although you can't dial it up to 6V, it works for everything I need it to. I can throw them into my backpack with a tank attached and not worry about it getting banged up or breaking.

So after all this, my recommendation is to get both, they each have their place in my arsenal.

Cheers for the input guys. If people find the LT too large to take out and about than for emits hardly worth purchasing. Looks like it'll be a couple of twists for me then!

Bear in mind ... I own the full size 18650 LT. The mini version using 18350 batteries would probably be okay for out and about since it's nowhere near as big. That's another reason I mentioned the LRider Transformer (I finally remembered the name). It's a telescoping APV built around the Lambo 4.0 electronics. Goes from 18350 to 18650.

So far I personally am liking the form factor of the ZMax. It's only about an inch longer than a 650mah Twist, which puts it at about the same length as a 1000mah. Maybe half again as wide as the Twist in diameter. Granted, it's a SS tube, so it does weigh a little more, but not in a cumbersome way. It's definitely thinner than the LT I have tho. When I get home from work later tonight, if I'm not too tired, I'll line them all up for some comparison photos.

Howdy,

I own both and have been vaping for about 6 weeks give or take.

I started with the 650 twist, bought 2 of them, used mini vivis on top. They are great. Tweaked one of the vivis when I had the whole unit in my front pocket of my jeans, so now I had a dead vivi. Found an old flashlight holster, closed the bottom of it and carried it around my neck where ever I went. Remember, with the twist you need two of them, one to charge while you are using the other. I was a 1.5 PAD smoker. I vape more than I smoked. One batt would last me about as long as it took to charge the other. Then one of the twists just died.

After the death on one twist, I bought the LT. Love it, great device. Got 2 batts. One charges while I'm using the other. One device 2 batts. I made this choice because I knew, just knew, that I would end up with other 18650 batt devices, so I wouldn't end up having another type battery to deal with ( I also know that sometime in the future, I'll end up with a device that will not use the same batts). When I go out, I now carried two devices, a twist for when I'm wandering thru a craft fair and my LT I use while driving, cause if I don't the twist will die if I'm out more than a couple of hrs. I don't carry the LT only because I don't have a lanyard or pouch to carrying it around. If I find one then the twist will stay home as a backup and I'll just take the Tube and an extra batt.

Then I discovered the world of bottom feeders. Got my VModXL a few days ago, and it hasn't been out of my hand since. Uses the same 18650 batts ( see.... I knew it), and it fits in my hand my jeans pocket, my shirt pocket, etc., it's still too new too put down, lol.

My humble opinion would be to go for a Tube. Find a way to carry it that is comfortable to you. The size may bring a couple of stares, but myself, I don't care who stares. If the stares or the carrying a large and a bit heavy device around bothers you, grab yourself a couple of twists, get yourself a lanyard or pouch, wear it proud, or stick inside your shirt or jacket.

These are the only devices I own, and all three of them are great, all have their purposes in my vaping life. I kinda think, at this point, my VMod may end up moving the other two into the category of backup device, but at least I know I have 2 great backups!

This is definitely providing food for thought. I won't be able to wear a lanyard or pouch at work to carry the mod, so it'll have to somehow fit in a pocket or my tac vest, which could be a non runner. The 18350 is only 700 mah though from what I've found, so the battery won't last all that much longer than my present 650s. I've had a quick look and can't find the zmax listed on my regular uk suppliers. I'm interested in seeing pictures for comparison tho if you get time.

Important to note, with an 18350 device, you can simply carry an extra battery or two with you. They are very small batteries, just over an inch in length. That is the one true benefit of an APV over a PV ... interchangeable batteries.

I'll work on the pic tonight after work. Tho I'm not off until midnight eastern time.

Carrying extra batteries may be the only viable option really. I'm guessing the 350 will be significantly shorter than the 650 and hopefully will fit in my existing case. No rush on the pics at all!

18350's are shorter than an eGo but they are wider. eGo batts are typically around 14mm in diameter whereas a 18350 batt is 18mm in diameter. Depending on the thickness of the mod wall, you'll be looking at something just under an inch in diameter. If you stick it in your pocket, the stares you get may be for something else other than your ecig...

Will you really be $200 in the hole, or have a $200 investment? Provari is the only device I know of that can be rebuilt. Most of other stuff one buys is disposable, such as my Joye eGo Twist. When it's done, it's done. I'm saving coins for the Provari, because I know It'll eventually pay off.

I haven't tried either... Congrats on over 2 months, though! I've been looking at the VV KGO, myself. I can afford the Provari, but I'm still $200 in the hole, and saving has become a matter of principle, for some weird reason. :)
My initial thought is to get the bigger one, since I can't imagine that 650mah can't last long at variable voltage (hence the fact that I've only looked at the KGO VV as opposed to buying it), but I'll step aside to let more knowledgeable people put in their 2 cents. :)
