Wondering if this is really safe? It has a battery on it as does a cell phone so could it cause static electricity which could start a fire at the pump. Stupid question I know but I wonder all kids of crazy things!
Don't do it. Fire , Explosions, strangers should/will yell at you for endangering there lives.
I know that on oil rigs and fume laden areas cellphones are a no go unless they are the Motorola sealed devices.
Basicly anything with a spark and or chance of arching is not safe around gas fumes.
I would be more worried about poly wool nylon static charge over a phone near a gas pump.
How can I delete this question then?
I was more directing this at the people talking about cell phones.
If you want to delete, pm a mod. I think you're supposed to be able to lock your own threads now using the thread tools (right hand side at the top).
It is completely safe, the mythbusters did a full episode on gas station explosions, and short of putting a match near the tank itself your fine, but i dont recommend it for the sake that people are would not see it as safe as it truly is.
