@turp - ditto on your pain. Actually, heads built by a third party was one of my major concerns before I purchased. It's been like two years since I tried this. I'm of the Professor Mr.Mann school of thought in that I want to build and wick my own. Then If it fails I have no one to blame but myself and more importantly I can fix it.
I might be grasping at straws for you but:
Remove the head and push the 510 pin out a little from the base. Then install the head and push the 510 pin back in. I use a small flathead screw driver and the tolerances that I see are different when comparing my SS to my Black.
What happens when you dribble juice on each of the four wicking holes of your head? I'm grasping for you but looks can sometimes fool all of us.
