CHIT CHAT . . .

NO - Absolutely Not . . . "RayN's" "Secret Santa Contest" is still going - However I had someone who was being very kind send "Me" a special "Secret Santa VVV Gift" today that I wanted to Thank, especially since I know they had to be from here . . . Although, recently I have sent about 5 people here to check out "Ray's" VVV tanks - they could have also been "My Secret Santa" too . . . So whoever it was again - THANK YOU :D

Chit Chat

Thank you so much for the clarification! I got one too and was quite confused - not to mention consumed with guilt, since I thought we had until Friday to submit names. Thank you very much Secret Santa and Happy Solstice! (Perfect timing too, I was about to place an order!)

1) Good evening all! It's freezing outside and my pony thinks he's funny. Those of you who don't have horses may not be aware that they play dumb pranks, which they find very amusing. Those who have horses know exactly what I mean.

"Helping Clean Corrals" is a favorite. That's just what I call it, but I wager there must be a common name since I have yet to meet a horse who doesn't do it, although some do it more than others. You're cleaning the corrals, raking up the manure in a neat pile to be scooped out. You turn your back to get the apple-picker or a shovel and the horse walks through the pile of manure spreading it all over the place. The corral is huge. The last time you looked he was on the other side. It's like a pile of manure has a siren song: I've been raked, come wander through me... And no matter what you say, horses will look right at you and pretend they don't know what you're talking about - but they know exactly what you're talking about. It's the rolling of the eyes and the barely contained expression of glee that gives them away. It doesn't matter if they've done it 100 times, they still act like it's the funniest joke in the world.

4. lol. i want horses. ive ridden horses a few times in my life. the last time the horse started galloping really hard and it was awesome except my ... hurt after. do want to ride again soon

2) I was horse crazy growing up. My cousins had ponies that I would ride in the summer when I visited, but I'm from L.A., so I could only dream. I was almost 30 when I got my first horse. It wasn't like I thought it would be. The Racing Down The Beach I dreamt of was quickly replaced by a relationship with a 1,000 pound critter who would manipulate the heck out of me if it knew I thought it was beautiful. Nothing is less awe-inspiring than being smirked at. Much like life, having horses wasn't what I expected, but has taught me more than I could ever have imagined. Last week, after 24 years together, I had to have my mare put down. Dulce wasn't a pet, she was my sister. We had some amazing adventures and some horrific fights. She once got us off a cliff when I was sure we were going to die (I still don't know how she did it, I had my eyes shut and was crying the whole time), and I once tried to actually get my hands around her throat to kill her. Fortunately, I have her son, who I delivered - but he and I have a ways to go. Sausalito was always "Horse #2," so he doesn't understand why I'm suddenly giving him so much attention.

I hope this didn't bum anybody out. It's sad, but it's good.

It's isn't just that they're intelligent (I have 3 Border Collies they are intelligent), horses have a sense of humor. A weird sense of humor. They aren't very good at subtlety, so you can see right through it, but they definitely try to mess with your head in a way other animals don't.

3) Thank you. I wasn't sure if I should post about it. It hurt a lot, but it was a "good death," in the sense that she had a long full life (she would have been 29 in January) and although she was ill, she wasn't in terrible pain. I hope the end of my life goes as well.
