best buy will replace anything for any reason at zero cost, for example:
my friend bought a brand new macbook pro 4 years ago....he purchased black tie protection on it for four years protection....last week, in the last month of his black tie service, he "accidentally" dropped a dumbbell on it....well, he now has a new macbook pro....the 2012 version with the SSD and the i7 QC processor...and a new four year black tie contract
Its my parents computer and I am never on it. I use my tablet exclusively, but you cant update the firmware from the tablet, which is maddening!!!!
Kaleb I remember that with the G4 I used to have to firewire it to another computer to do any type of updating. I was happy to find it a new home - the design was so cool that I couldn't get rid of it - found a college student who wanted it last year.

Yep! They will give you a new one. I expected a refurb, but they went to the same cabinet my first one came from, opened a new box and broke out a new phone and SIM from the box and imaged it for me. I suppose that after the initial 14 day period where you can decide you want a different phone and the 30 day period for returning it, they would flip over to Geek Squad and replace it with a refurb. As long as the refurb looks and operates like a new one, I'm good.
I couldn't ask for better responsiveness from the guys at our Best Buy store. They were responsive, cheerful, and I will give them exceptional marks on the surveys for that. Another plus is that they represent all the cell companies in your area and will allow you to change over to another provider if you find that the coverage on one isn't what you expected. I'm sure there's a charge for contract breakage, but you can do it. There was someone doing that when I was there because there wasn't a tower close to her house.

After all hardware research I did, I was waiting for the Razr or Razr Maxx to go on sale. Really, I just wanted any dual core phone with a clock speed above 1ghz. At 1.2Ghz, the free Galaxy Nexus was a no brainer. The Razr was $99-$199 everywhere I looked with no sales until Christmas or maybe back to school. When I saw the Nexus for FREE, I had to jump. It's s great phone with 16G ram and a nice interface. Plus, it comes with ICS and Jelly Bean is just around the corner. Scrolling is butter smooth and after loading 2 dozen of my favorite apps, I've only used a tiny fraction of the ram storage.
There's forum info on the origin issues with the first China phones. The original Nexus was made in Korea, Samsung's home country. Baseband .9 was Korea and .10 is China. The radio has had problems, but once you get a good one, it's solid according to the many posts I've read. There is one worldwide thread about people having radio problems after the ICS 4.0.4 update, but there are also many radio issues posted before ICS was released. Go figure.
Once you get a good one, they work well according to the extensive forum reading I've done. Some people have returned 3, 4 and as many as 8 before getting a good radio. That's another reason for buying locally instead of having to deal with a toll free number and a UPS shipped replacement. I like dealing over the counter, hence Best Buy's Geek Squad contract.

There's something inherently icky about buying stuff at Best Buy, for me. I bought my last two Verizon phones on Amazon Mobile.

I've done business with Best Buy over a number of years and always felt good about it. I bought my laptop at Staples just because they had it on sale and Best Buy didn't. For cell phones, we've always gone to the Verizon store, but this time the phones we wanted weren't on sale. Best Buy is my first check point for electronics, although I do business with Newegg and Tiger Direct and other companies, also. I'm a price checker. Whoever has the best price and a reliable reputation gets my business.
I'm completely satisfied with Best Buy for cell phones. The warranty/service coverage will probably make me continue to go there for cell phones the next time, too.
Come to think of it, the last thing I bought at Best Buy was a PC. Five years ago I sold it on eBay for pretty close to what I paid for it.
Any tips on where to buy used cell phones. I'm not one for craigslist or ebay honestly because i need to know I'm getting a phone that sprint will allow me to activate without a bad esn or whatever it's called. At this point I'm even looking at a nexus S just to get by for the next year. 549$ for a sprint galaxy nexus brand new is too much.
The experience from my epic touch is amazingly different then my nexus 7. I realize in my case it's most likely either just this particular phone or its the horrendous service sprint gives me. Regardless i need something else to compare.
I'm almost willing to get back into the apple ecosystem but doing my best to stay away till at least the newest model is announced

Doesn't really matter where it was assembled, the main board, bridging, gpu, gps and battery connections are all 3 year old hardware... And its not expandable (no SD). With apps and development going the way they are, you couldn't get me to sign into a contract for a device that didn't have upgradable memory. Big resin the HTC oneX is underperforming on the market. All things considered, its one of the best devices ever made...but no removable battery or upgradable memory killed its market value.
Cloud storage is great, but not forward compatible (i have about 175GB on dropbox, then box, drive and minus on top of that). If i want to access my apks offline, they have to not only be stored on my device, but i have to have room to install them. My device has 16 gb onboard, with a 32gb card for storage..
What matters these days, is storage space and ram. The chip sets are almost all over 1gb dual core, and the gpu rendering is more than enough on any mid tier to high end device.
The nexus is a slick phone, and for free, I'd take one as well...just not for 3 years.

I would not get the nexus s...thing is garbage...its the reason the galaxy nexus got pushed out so fast
I hear ya but this epic touch is garbage also and it's got a nice cracked screen now.. I refuse to spend 550$ for a phone out of contract so I'm trying to find something used cheap.. The nexus s is the oldest thing I'd use and cases and batteries would be cheaper by now..

in all seriousness the nexus S was inverior to the epic, the ONLY pro i'd give it is the fact that it was a nexus device, otherwise the epic is the better device...and if you go used, why not the GS2? or the EVO3D? both options are dual-core phones with ICS capabilities and a significant upgrade over the epic without being the rediculous fail of a nexus S
So I was able to install and run Kies on my grandmas newer mac today. It connected to my Galaxy Tab fine but then it said "Your device is unable to update via Kies". Ugh, so I called Samsung about this and they told me my device, the GT-P6210 would be getting an OTA update but couldnt tell me when!!! I thought, ok, will try the Odin method fron my grandmas computer but low and behold ODIN DOESNT WORK ON MAC! Needless to say, I am not very happy that I have to wait for this OTA update that I have no idea when it will get to my device! Now the weird thing, when I go into Settings > About Device > Software Update and click Update, my device does NOTHING, is this normal?? Thanks for listening to my rant everyone. I just want ICS!

It's a 2 year contract.
I moved from a 512MB phone that had about 80mb user space after the OS and Verizon junk that came installed to the Nexus that has 16G free for use by the user. I just looked and after I have most of my apps installed it's showing 27.78GB left out of 28.13GB total. I think they might have given me us 32GB phones by mistake. Good luck getting them back! I checked my wife's and it shows the same relative free user space.
I think the Nexus with its internal only storage will be just fine for me. I don't download many videos and I delete them after a while anyway. Most of my usage will be emails and pictures with a few videos and tunes.
ETA: I Googled and found people saying their 16GB Nexus shows 13.3GB remaining. It looks like we both got 32GB phones. More Googling revealed that Sprint and Verizon are offering 32GB phones (LTE) and AT&T Nexus is 16GB (HSPA+). I got a better deal than I thought.

I'm gonna try one more wipe tomorrow.. At this point I'm complaining about the ICS update only and not the phone.. The phone even with the full crack works fine and battery life is great on gingerbread but the official ICS update is my problem.. It was poorly executed, LOS(loss of signal) is a complete joke, battery life tanks on ICS and I can go on but then I'm just complaining over and over.
I guess I'll start checking out the galaxy nexus on craiglist.. TImes like this I hope for sim cards...
Anyone have any experience with swappa? Prices seem pretty good and tempting.. Sadly the money I have now is going towards a vmax among other ecig stuff thats completely more important atm..

let me clarify, the S2 on sprint is the S2, the epic 4g touch is the OG SGS device....and if i'm not mistaken the first to come with the superAMOLED screen....
