So I was able to install and run Kies on my grandmas newer mac today. It connected to my Galaxy Tab fine but then it said "Your device is unable to update via Kies". Ugh, so I called Samsung about this and they told me my device, the GT-P6210 would be getting an OTA update but couldnt tell me when!!! I thought, ok, will try the Odin method fron my grandmas computer but low and behold ODIN DOESNT WORK ON MAC! Needless to say, I am not very happy that I have to wait for this OTA update that I have no idea when it will get to my device! Now the weird thing, when I go into Settings > About Device > Software Update and click Update, my device does NOTHING, is this normal?? Thanks for listening to my rant everyone. I just want ICS! :(

Kaleb if you PM me I might be able to help you do this. Not sure what you are trying to do. If you are trying to update the Mac OS you have to do it from another Mac.

The epic touch is the sprint version of the s2 :)
Also radioshack charges 549 off contract.. best buy charges 699$ so thats definitely not helping :p
I'm gonna try one more wipe tomorrow.. At this point I'm complaining about the ICS update only and not the phone.. The phone even with the full crack works fine and battery life is great on gingerbread but the official ICS update is my problem.. It was poorly executed, LOS(loss of signal) is a complete joke, battery life tanks on ICS and I can go on but then I'm just complaining over and over.
I guess I'll start checking out the galaxy nexus on craiglist.. TImes like this I hope for sim cards...
Anyone have any experience with swappa? Prices seem pretty good and tempting.. Sadly the money I have now is going towards a vmax among other ecig stuff thats completely more important atm..

My Samsung Droid Charge is dated, but I really like it, if you wanted to try one of these. I believe it does have an Amoled screen. The display is gorgeous. It runs 2.3.6, not sure what that is in food names ;)

That's Gingerbread, if I'm not mistaken. Ice Cream Sandwich came at 4.0. I'm sure there were pet developer names in between.

You're right Dave, there were. :2cool:

The G1 came with Bender when Android first hit the market then it followed an alphabetical list of sweets.

Cupcake - 1.5
Donut - 1.6
Eclair - 2.0/2.1
Froyo - 2.2.x
Gingerbread - 2.3.x
Honeycomb - 3.x
Ice Cream Sandwich - 4.0.x
Jelly Bean - 4.1.x

Motorola phones disgust me with the ugly skins and my s2 epic touch has taught me never again Samsung neither. I'd sooner go back to a jail broken iPhone then either of those

pssh the s2 is a ton better than the moment, which is where i was scorned by them, since then i've been on the HTC bandwagon, and i don't really see getting off for much else atm

That sucks that it's still Gingerbread. I got a notification yesterday that there was a new software update and I installed it. It must just be a later version of Gingerbread.

Advanced as it is, ICS had a couple of days learning curve for me. I was at 2.1 (Eclair). Things work differently as they advance. It's not like MS Office where you know how to do everything but there's new stuff added. I was constantly saying, "Before, I did this to do that. How do I do that now?". Once you get it, it's better and sleeker.

It's sad what happened to Motorola. They were state of the art in everything back in the day. They dominated the market for emergency communications at one time. I believe they came out with the technology that we use for mobile phones now.

Their iden phone was pure genius. I used it in the 90's when I was a chauffeur. It was basically a very heavy almost indestructible two way radio that had a huge range. And it also had a phone. The case was so well made, I think you could drop it off of Sears Tower and it would survive.

I found out a lot about mobile when I drove the Motorola guys around. I was a Chicago chauffeur. The iden guys were brilliant.

I bought a Razr when they first came out. Worst phone I ever had. Got rid of it after three months and never bought another Motorola product (knowingly).

I've played with a razormaxx. Without the ugly motoblur or whatever skin it's actually a decent phone but it's on Verizon and I'm on sprint. As much crap as i talk about samsung i love the feel of my phone, it's just samsung and sprint coupled are what makes me so angry. I'm gonna install the unofficial aosp today and give it a few days, otherwise I'm gonna get a new phone

Samsung makes the best phones on the planet in terms of hardware and design...software is obviously AOSP dominated.

Anyone who states otherwise is not thinking about it critically IMO.

Whoever was complaining about Motorolas skin: it's an Android, not an iPhone...if you don't like the skin, change it, that's like saying you wouldn't buy a house because you don't like the color of the paint. The battery life of the maxx puts it in a class by itself.

Vaping since: a while
Cigarettes avoided: lots
Money saved: probably not
Devices: Yes

Ok so after major problems(my own doing again) I finally got it back to el29 and rooted with CWM.. For some reason I couldn't install the aokp or any jelly bean roms ( I think cwm needs to be updated) so I settled with the newest blazer rom for ics.. SO far so good. Found a newer modem and installed that also along with hotspot hack I'm gonna be happy I think.. Might even take my 7 out with me now since naked it fits in my pocket.

Battery life is just like ecigs, more MAH, more hours. It's just too bad that there isn't more room in a tiny phone to install a 3000mah battery and still be thin as a crepe. I actually like a little thickness in a phone, at least enough to make me feel like it won't slip through my hands. I'm not a pocket carry guy anyway. With keys in one pocket and a Provari in the other, I'm happy to have a belt case for the phone. I'm more likely to hear the ringtone that way.

I've always had a hard shell belt case for my Android phone. Yesterday, the postman brought the first of 4 cases I ordered from Amazon for my wife and I. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to buy two VZW hard shell cases with the stand prop and a belt clip, a leather belt case, and silicone sleeve for a little over $20. My wife wants the silicon sleeve and may use the leather case. I like the rubberized hard shell belt cases.

Now my phone feels like I can hold on to it without slipping out of my hand and it's not occupying space in my pants pocket!
