Sounds like the Provari was a great investment for you. I like the feel of a box mod better than a tube mod. I bought one of the Ego Twists and it doesn't dial up high enough for most juices.

That's the magic of the Provari and other mods that have good, strong electronics. 3.5A current capacity in the Provari with a good boost/buck circuit gives you exacting voltage levels over various resistances. If I dial mine to 4v with a carto on it and check it with an inline 510 thread digital voltmeter it will read 3.99v. If I change from a 3 ohm to a 2 ohm carto and check it again, it reads the same. If the battery is at 4.1v or 3.4v, it reads the same. That's the secret of its consistent vaping experience. It's not magic, its just quality technology.

I'm trying not to brag, but just relate my experience. Since I've had the Provari, I haven't even thought about spending a dime to try out anything else. My eGo's are still around for backup in case the bubble bursts one day and I have to send it in for repair.

Dave, it did not come across as bragging. The Provari is superbly made. When I was looking to invest in a really good PV, the Provari didn't work well with dual coil cartos, so I passed on it.

It kind of does work well with the dual coils Sandy...the chart in the pbusardo video showed a 1.5 ohm dual pushed to like 4.5 volts....and I like dual coils too...but I've been finding the 801 fusions blow all other cartos out of the water in terms of flavor and performance.

As long as you stay within the current delivery range of the device, there's no reason why any combination shouldn't work. At 3.5a, the Provari is right at the top of the pack in capability. If I use a dual coil, I find my self backing it down to about 3.4v.

3.4*3.4/1.5=7.7 watts for me that's in my sweet spot range. It's 2.25a, well under the range of the Provari, but close to the top of an eGo.

I started vaping a year ago, and I know the newer Provaris don't have the dual coil issue anymore -- something changed.

They changed the amperage on the switch, the v1 had a 2.5 switch where the v2 has a 3.5 switch, so power moves faster

Even the eGo batteries support up to 2.5A current before they flash the LED and shut down. I vaped plenty with the Smoktech DCT tanks and 1.6 cartos before I got the Provari. 2 ohm Boges were my sweet spot on the eGo. On the Provari, I generally use 3 ohm cartos somewhere between 3.7v and 4.2v. It depends on the juice and my perception of throat hit. Variable voltage is like a volume control for throat hit.

most of the eGos will hit amp limitation and just keep vaping at a lower regulated voltage though, the provari will (to my understanding) throw an error up and tell you to try again....i prefer the way the provari does it, maybe its something about being lied to that just irks me x.x....i like those 2.0 boges too but lately the boges have been.....off. so i switched to those 801 fusions i keep mentioning, they are incredible..matter of fact all of the products i've ever gotten from ikenvape have been absolutely astounding, including the 510 diamonds, but something about those 801s....they just vape better

Idk exactly, he had it for 2 or 3 days, luckily he was local so I picked it up from him in person. I think he disassembled it, stripped the paint and polished it. It looks great though :)

I got black too..guess if my paint starts cracking and chipping I'll put a bit of custom paint on it.

I just went for the satin stainless to start with. Black is nice, but a scratch shows the underlying metal.

The finish on mine reminds me of what you see on a satin finish nickel steel revolver. It's a nice finish.

About the only thing I'd change on the Provari is the mounting of the electronics. There's a pressed in cap at the atomizer end that goes on after the electronics are slid into dual slots in the barrel. There's a slight amount of loose play in the circuit board mounting. You don't notice that, but it creates a situation where pressing the button takes up the side play and the fire button almost bottoms out in the hole when you press it. That's good in that it's difficult to fire the Provari when you sit down with it in your pocket, but the tension on the button press can be on the high side. With the battery removed, you can feel that play while using a pencil eraser to clean the center contact.

A little strip of clear silicone seal would have been in order to stop that play.

Back on the Android scene, does anyone know if there are guitar player apps like the ones available on Iphone IOS? Iphone has support for downloading stomp box effects that allow you to insert your iphone into a programmable interface to add or change or update you floor effects if you are a guitar player. There are recording studio apps and all kinds of musician options on Iphone.

I don't know for sure honestly...I'm not a musician and never thought to search for apps like that as a result...have you tried searching around other places on the web?

I've had numerous amps over the years ranging from single 12" speaker to 4x12 and 8x12 cabs. For the past 4 years or so, I've played a Peavey Vypyr Tube 60 that's a 1x12 open back cab with Sharc processor modeling. That's probably techno speak to most, but it has 12 amp models that are fairly true to the originals, 11 stompboxes, and 11 rack effects built in. All those are controlled by a foot controller that incorporates a wah pedal one one side and a volume pedal on the other. It's kind of a one amp fits all solution for me. I don't use floor effect boxes anymore.

Today, lots of musicians are using their Iphone to download (and pay for) foot controller programming that can be transferred to a specially designed stomp box. That allows them to upgrade and change the entire personality of the stomp box. It's really a god way to keep from paying over $100 for each stompbox you buy. Android hasn't entered that market, but there no reason why not.

Digitech is big on these things. You just pay for and download the pedal programming, hook up your Iphone by cable and transfer the code to the box. It becomes a new pedal with new capabilities.

My Peavey Sanpera II foot controller looks like this and communicates with the amp using MIDI.

good news....lemme rephrase....GREAT news for sprint customers...the guys behind vodaphone japan bought a 70% stake in the company...and they have really, REALLY deep pockets....they are tired of coming to america and getting "incredibly slow" phone data connections....so they are basically going to come in and overhaul sprint....LTE deployment will probably go into overdrive in the next couple months...and our plans might even drop in price, as vodaphone introduced plans that were equivalent to about $12 a month for cell service in japan....granted, these probably were not smartphone plans...but its an insane price for any type of monthly cell service plan....i think it's a great move...i'm actually excited to see what they will be doing once they take the forefront with the company...which will retain the sprint name
