I think the main point around here is that there's no point in risking it.. it takes what? 5-10min TOPS to fill up your car? If you can't go that long without vaping then I think there are other issues that need to be addressed.

Loved the vid of the old guy & the truck by the way.. maybe THAT'S why they tell you to put the gas can on the ground .. I'm so glad I was always too short to fill up the gas can inside the bed of the truck :D

Actually the laptop and cell phone use on a plane during takeoff and landing ban was because they said it could interfere with the electronics on the plane. That was debunked on slashdot.org and wired magazine in the past as well.

As far as welding a gas tank that has fumes in it, there is no way I would ever try that unless I didn't want to live or something, that is just nuts.

Note I said if there was vapor trapped. If you want to try this experiment outside not indoors at your own risk of course. Try to light gas with a real cig like dunking it in a small puddle of it. It doesn't work that that way except maybe in the movies. The real actual cig will just drown. A lit match is a whole different story though.

On a funny note though someone at work was stealing 9 volt batteries out of smoke detectors. He got caught after having some in his pocket with coins in there and thought his pants were going to catch fire when they shorted and emptied his pockets pronto. Haha nabbed in the act.:)

Mythbusters proved that there is no danger in talking on a cellphone while pumping gas.

I'm a fan of Mythbusters, but I have a fondness for life too. Even if it's only a 1:1,000,000 shot, any electronic device is capable of igniting gasoline vapor.

My point of view is, what's so hard about leaving your e-cig on the console, and telling a person, "I'll call you back in 10 minutes" when you need gas? You could very well be that 1,000,000th person. Burning to death is a horrible way to go.
