Buried in books
I started vaping on May 20th this year and haven't had a cig since. In the beginning I behaved with my vaping as I would with a cig. Avoid non smoking people, no inside (except at home) no flaunting of any kind. However, it got colder and since I own my own store I finally decided that vaping inside was ok. In fact, several customers have asked me about that 'nice smell' and I have pulled out my ecig and showed them.

Now I keep cards for my local vape shop right at the checkout and don't worry about vaping with folks around. Most are curious, especially other smokers. And I totally can smell a smoker the second they walk in the door. ugh! And to think I smelled like that...so glad I don't any more :2cool:

I was still working when I started vaping in May 2013. At first, I accommodated the "brittle people" who live to be offended, by going outside for vape breaks like a good little worker drone ...

But then complaints about smokers in the parking lots triggered a total smoking ban on company property. Smokers had to walk about 1/4 mile to a public sidewalk. That's when I started stealth vaping at my desk with an eRoll and 100% PG juice ...

Counter-complaints from managers who smoked led to a "smoking area", which was a concrete ash receptacle at the corner of a sharp driveway turn, where anyone standing was likely to be struck by vehicle traffic unless they jumped quickly enough ...

I continued to stealth vape at my desk, since I don't jump so quickly anymore ...

Now I'm retired, and happily vape at home all day, in an apartment managed by the most tyrannical anti-smoking Nazi who ever lived. What he can't smell won't upset his delicate sensibilities ...

When I ride the trolley in San Diego, I always sit in the first car near the driver, just a habit. Last week I was looking around to see if anyone in the car was bristling with the need to be outraged, and noticed that the driver was discreetly vaping with an Ego. I saluted him with my eRoll, big grins all around ...:D

Yup. Vape in my office whenever I please. The only person Ive had a problem with is a customer who has had a vendetta against me since I upset him earlier this year by not providing special treatment. He tried making snarky remarks but I just ignore him and my boss knows he's an ....... anyhow. ha

I work by myself in a small (but very nice) guard shack. No one is there to stop me.
My issue now is, the one guy who works there is determined to smoke in the guard shack. Coming in after him is totally disgusting. I wish he wouldn't smoke in there.

My brother sells auto parts at a dealership. He asked if he could vape and his boss said it was perfectly OK. He actually got a lot of the car techs to quit smoking and start vaping.

The building I work in is huge, and I work in a secluded section of it... in my own office. The general hospital policy is that e-cigs are considered tobacco products and not allowed on the grounds.

So I spend most of the day with my door pushed closed except for that inch that will let people know that I'm in here. If someone comes in, I won't vape. But when no one is around.... My boss knows I am trying to quit smoking by vaping and has been nothing but supportive. A couple times, she has come down for some reason and even tried to play guess the flavor....

I vape all day at work - in the factory and in the offices. They all love it. Even the work hypochondriac is on board when i pointed out that PG kill germs!

Every now and then i'll let them have a vote among themselves as to what flavour i'll vape the next day. I turned from a 40 a day stinking misfit into a portable air freshener that smokers are jealous of and everyone likes to see! I only cloud chase in the factory ;)

Wow! I'm so impressed with your victory over cigarettes! I'm celebrating my 48th day cigarette/smoke free and I STILL want a real cig! Great your coworkers and company support your progress.

I vape in the parking lot at a distance from the "smoking shelter". Either vaping is harmless - then why would I want to expose myself to tobacco second hand smoke? - or vaping is very dangerous but we don't know it yet - then why expose poor tobacco smokers to the additional dangers of my vape?

I love this reply for the humor and the potential validity of the point. But I must say THERE IS NO DANGER - THERRRRRRE IS NOOOOOOO DANGER !

I started vaping back in March, and throughout the summer and fall, I was in my office (mostly with the door closed) vaping away. My co-workers would come in and ask what bakery flavor was on the menu LOL. THEN, about two weeks ago, an email was circulated from "building management" (we lease our office space) saying that vaping is NOT allowed within the building and that vaping and smoking must be done at least 20' from the building.

My arrogant response - "Too Bad". I just leave my door closed and still vape away. My buddies aren't going to rat me out. I'd like to think "the establishment" would be happy I'm no longer smoking (so my insurance rates should not go up....)

So far I've had no troubles whatsoever at work. The thing is you just have to use a little common sense and show a little courtesy to those around you and if you do, odds are you'll be able to do what you want.

Generally I'll try being somewhat low profile, conscientious and generally I'll choose flavors that have a pleasant aroma for when I'm around others.

I pretty much vape anywhere in the building. My boss (a man) still smokes - when we go out for HIS smoke break and he takes that first drag and blows it out - I almost always take a big lung hit and cloud up so we cant see each other then say "...Mine is still bigger than yours..."

I'll have him vaping by summer, I guarantee it.
