I work at a transit garage and a memo was posted today notifying staff that electronic cigarettes are now banned inside company vehicles and facilities. This all came about supposedly because of inquiries from employees.

So somebody actually asked management if it was ok. My school of thought is that its easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
i knew this would happen eventually. I've been cutting my nicotine level over the past few months, and soon I'll be at zero. Then I'm walking away from all of it.

The company has every right to do this. I understand that, but i know the decision was made by uninformed people, and that's what pisses me off. How about doing a little research on the topic before creating new rules.

I think that's what frustrates us (well at least me) the most, uniformed people that won't listen to reason making decisions or forming opinions about vaping.

Chances are the vehicles are covered in company logos.

1.Someone see you
2. Reports you
3. Your fired

Its never even occurred to me to look at drivers of commercial vehicles to see if they are "smoking" or what appears to be, and report them...Do you know anyone who does that?

It would never occur to me to condemn something because it LOOKS like smoking, yet here many of us are with problems created by that issue.

All kinds of different things can come into play when management makes those kind of decisions. It could be corporate image, uniformity of policies, and on and on.

Long before there were e-cigs, I banned smoking inside my shop not because I had something against cigarettes (I smoked) but because $50K engines make pisspoor ashtrays.

I drove a parts truck for a couple years and you have no idea how many people report drivers. I think people just call to complain about something because their lives are boring or lonely. Being that it is vaping it would be a matter of time before someone called thinking the driver was using illegal drugs.
