I prefer not to look at it from a "what am I spending", but a "what am I saving" point of view, which at the moment isn't anything. Well, maybe my health.
Between the wife and myself, our tobacco habit was around $350 a month.
We have purchased some higher quality gear and been
vaping for 2.5 months. We are still in the negative but are very happy with our gear.
I look at the costs thus far as an investment in our future while freeing us from the need to upgrade constantly.
By the time I take into account what we have spent, and will spend, I figure that we will start saving a minimum of $250 a month in the next 25-30 days while allowing ourselves a $100 per month vape budget. Won't be likely to spend that much though since I DIY almost all of our juices.
We started on eGo Twist kits to determine if
vaping would solve our tobacco addiction. Once the eGo's got us off the squares, we invested in the higher end gear we wanted.
In my personal experience, buying the more expensive gear that you desire the first time, of any type, is often less expensive in the long run...... it only hurts once. The flip side is that it takes longer before you actually start to see the savings. Of course I realize that not everyone has the means to approach their purchases in such a way..... I know I didn't always have the means.
Next year, the wife and I will go on a nice vacation with our savings from quitting tobacco and not buying gear that we feel compelled to upgrade.
