So you had bad experiences with cigalikes, the lowest quality ecig, and lump all other ecigs in with them? C'mon. Maybe if you could've given up the whole "it's gotta look like a cig!" idea you would've had a better experience. And assuming ecigs have no odor isn't the case. They don't have the odor of burning cigarettes, but the odor of the flavorings. If you vaped unflavored juice and had a real rig this thread would never have been posted. You limited yourself to a sub par experience and then lumped everything else into your "conclusions". /facepalm

I have to go along with this. I thought the Blu's were total crap, in fact they were what finally led me here, they sucked so hard, and I had tried 2 other disposable e-cigs which also sucked. If you got a REAL e-cig with some REAL ejuice, you'd see the difference. And yeah, some of the tobacco flavors do have a tobacco-ish scent, but there are a LOT of flavors -- when I'[ve been vaping in the truck, get out, the back in again pretty quickly, it smells like a bakery in there! Strawberries and something really yummy smelling. Blueberries also smell really good when vaped.

The scent is very light; my mom and aunt seem to quite enjoy it, they say it's sorta like a light fruity air-freshener, but *really* light, and the scent fades very quickly.

Don't base your whole opinion of vaping on those crappy Blu's. They suck, just like all the other disposable gas station e-cigs.

First of all, welcome to the forum.

Sorry to read that your vaping experience turned out to be a downer. Vaping is a relatively new "science" and has not had time to accumulate a lot of long term scientific research. You can find the most recent research documentation at CASAA.

Unfortunately, not everyone can tolerate vaping. I've been vaping for nearly four years, and have been quite active on this forum for the same amount of time, and I've never read of anyone else who has had the same symptoms as yourself. Vaping may not be "totally safe", but the majority of vapers who have been successful in stopping smoking with vaping will testify that it has to be less harmful than smoking.

Good luck to you my friend.
^^ This. Peanuts are generally regarded as safe, but they can kill some people. My sister has HORRIBLE allergic reactions to cats, I have none, and I'm also not sensitive to poison ivy - but if I get near Bactrim I get hives all over my body.

Congrats for not smoking. I think.
I skipped some bits.
You should have come here sooner for advice - maybe send someone here if they need assistance.

Sounds like mostly:
a) Crappy equipment.
b) Possibly a PG allergy

And yes, vapor can have a scent.
Most often, I get a comment, "smells a little like some kind of cookie". But it doesn't linger...

As for what's in the liquid? Well, honestly, I don't really know with Blu...but most other liquids, and certainly with the liquid I vape, I know EXACTLY what's in it, and there aren't any toxins or surprises. It's P-Glycol, V-Glycerine, a little bit of food flavoring, and a little bit of nicotine.

Hey all,

Unlike many of you, I was a closet cigarette smoker for 22 years. Yeah, I know that sounds crazy. Personally, I think smoking is a disgusting dirty habit, but I was seduced by it's pleasurable sensations throughout the body, and got hooked when I was 26 years-old. I did not want most of the people I knew to know that I smoked, so I burned lots of candles and incense in my apartment….ran the fan and opened windows alot. The things we go through for our bad habits.

Anyway, I quit about three years back because I had no choice. I was moving in with my single 85 year-old Dad, a staunch non-smoker, who would have been really, really disappointed to find out that I was smoking. My Dad can smell anything, and I just didn't have the heart to disappoint him, so I quit cold turkey. I had headaches for months, fitful sleeps, irritability, and all the other symptoms of quitting, but I really, really missed it bad. I did it for my Dad.

About a year and a half ago, I decided to give the e-cig a try. It was such a comforting feeling to feel that nicotine rush again. I wanted something that looked like a cigarette though, and not some new-fangled space age smoking device. So, I bought a disposable V2. The first night I think I overdid it though. Felt great, but afterward I felt a bit nauseous, like back when you first started smoking tobacco. I liked the look of the long, black cig though…I was a More 120 smoker when I smoked the regular cigarettes. I wished they had one that looked like a More 120!

Anyway, I immediately started noticing that my bedroom stunk like real cigarettes, and was surprised because I thought these things had no odor at all. This was not going to fly living with Dad. He was going to notice the smell (and did). After a couple of days, he mentioned to me, "What is that smell? I keep smelling something burning?" He couldn't put his finger on what it was though, but I thought, "Oh no, this is not going to work out at all."

So, I bought a disposable Blue cig because I heard they were non-odorous. I liked the Blue's, but the menthol gave me hideous headaches no matter what. Terrible migraines would set in 2-3 days after smoking one that would wipe me out for a day. And no, I wasn't smoking more than maybe 8 drags in one session for a couple of days. So, this wasn't nicotine overkill at all. I use to smoke almost 2 packs of Mores a day, and they never did this, but only on occasion.

After about one year of smoking the Blue disposables, I started having weird reactions after smoking them. Both symptoms appearing immediately after smoking them…blurred vision that would last for days, and stomach bloating/gas/soreness. One of the last times I smoked one, it gave me such bad stomach pain (upper GI, not lower, and no, I was not swallowing the smoke at all) that I quit for 3 weeks. It went away so i thought, well, I'll give them another try. The same thing happened, only this time, it lasted for about 2 months before it started to fade again. I haven't smoked anything since. it really scared me.

Surfing the net, I have read about alot of other people experiencing these same symptoms. So you can't just chalk this up to "other health" issues. It amazes me that something they advertise as being the "safe" alternative to smoking tobacco can have such terrible effects…side-effects that real tobacco never produced in me. I have no idea what they are putting in these things, but I do feel now, that vaping can be very harmful and dangerous to certain individuals…meaning, it truly is not for everyone.

So, if you are reading this and have had my same symptoms, you're not alone, and no, I seriously doubt you are experiencing symptoms from something else. I know after stopping and starting these e-cigs, that they are the culprit here, as the symptoms fades over time after stopping.

Oh, and the Blue cigs are NOT non-odorous. My Dad picked up on their smell also…hours after I had smoked one. He kept saying, "I keep smelling something that smells like dirty clothes". And no, I am very clean. He was smelling it lingering on my breath even after I had showered and brushed my teeth. It does have a stinky dirty feet/clothing smell…he's right.

The other thing I found really strange about vaping is that I didn't have the same 'craving" feeling that I had when I smoked a tobacco cigarette. It's not the same feeling at all. In fact, I never really had any cravings at all to vape, which I thought was unusual. It is nicotine, but my body didn't crave it, like cigarettes…and honestly, sometimes it was nice when smoking real cigs to satify that craving, something I have never experienced while vaping.

Anyway, I quit these things before Thanksgiving. To me, they felt poisonous, and my body didn't take to the toxins that they put in these things very well at all. Blurred vision is gone, and stomach issue is finally clearing up now. One day I may go back to tobacco cigs, but the timing isn't right now, but personally, I think there's alot they don't know about vaping, and one day we may all be surprised as to it's harmful effects…and the fact it might not be the "safe" alternative we all thought.

Are they the less safe alternative? I'm pretty-sure they are 100% SAFER than cigarettes.
Also, how can we believe that you, (unless u are a doctor) can self-diagnose these side-effects? Idk... But, one of the side-effects of quitting cigarettes, is stomach ache. You may want to consider tht the stomach aches were an effect of expelling tobacco toxins? Stomach aches are also 1 of the human body's most-easily created, through placebo, ailments. Ask school-age children. Propylene Glycol shouldn't be contributing to stomach pain. Do you get stomach pain when you eat birthday cakes, brush your teeth, apply D.O. ??? Also, the smell? You may have been burning your wick material. (cig-alikes are designed poorly, in that respect) you may want to try an EGO battery with clearomizer tank next time. also, lower your nicotine level next time! It sounds like you were vaping a high mg!) & finally, I would try a different flavor if you think they were stinking up your place... Strawberry should leave your room smelling of... Strawberries.

Savoir-Faire is everywhere!
All my friends and my friend's kids always tell me I smell like birthday cake[emoji3]
The stuff my son vapes REEKS and I'm a vaper....lol

Some of that stuff out there is rank and is only worsened by sub ohm vaping.

Sometimes I'm not sure what is worse, cigarette stink or vape stink.

Then, I'm reminded that I couldn't smell ANY of it when I was still smoking.

Besides he was not vaping the kind of gear we use. Blu's are a product of big Tobacco. I think he would have been much better off with ejuice that didn't smell or taste like Tobacco

I vape Coconut cream , peach Mango, apple pie, chocolate mousse etc.

If anyone wants to vape stay away from the Blu's and other cigalikes.

Go to a vape shop and ask to sample flavors.

So far everyone likes the scents except for my mother. Maybe she's related to Bob and his dad because she says they are toxic fumes, like gasoline.
Sounds like my wife. She is a heavy smoker, but says my vapor stinks and takes her breath away, which is funny coming from a pack and a half a day smoker haha.

I believe my mother finds my vaping embarrassing. She always wanted me to quit smoking so its obvious to me she doesn't like how I did it. The toxic fumes, and making her feel sick is her newest ploy. A year ago she thought it smelled good, and went after me for other reasons (its worse for you than smoking, they blow up, it looks like paraphenalia). This month its toxic fumes that might kill her or other family members.

Next time you see him, ask if he Screams at Tea Kettles for Steaming

This same neighbor does loves to barbeque on the balcony next to mine, and frequently it turns into a burnt offering as he's easily distracted. Which fills my place with noxious fumes, and probably contributes to global warming ...

Should I complain ?

Nah, I'm too old to act like a whiny brat ...

Agreed. If you ever go to a vape meet, it stinks. I'm not sure which but I'm thinking its the tobacco or custard blends but either way, it's doesn't smell good.

Somewhere out there
It's not that unreasonable jensy. I've been an tequila aficionado for years. I can drink that stuff by the gallons. One day last winter I decided to become a luge aficionado as well (but without the spandex. A chubby guy in spandex doesn't look good. No one overweight looks good in spandex. Can we as a nation agree that unless you are an aerobics instructor or picked to star in a Marvel action movie, you don't belong in spandex? Seriously, we have to have a license to drive a car. Can't we make it mandatory that you have to have a license wear spandex? That's regulation I can get behind. You might think wearing spandex is a victimless crime but if you can't pull it off, it's a crime against all sighted people around you! Where was I? Oh yeah...) Anyways, I was doing pretty well until I had too much tequila before a high speed luge run and I ended up flying off the course at high speed. Normally, that would be fine because you just land in fluffy blanket of snow. Unfortunately, there was a light pole near the track. In one of those slow motion "Oh crap" moments, I realized I'd never be able to get legs together in time and, well, my junk absorbed the entire blow of the impact. That sent me to the hospital for months (and into a level of soprano I'd never thought I'd be able to achieve as man.) Well, four descending surgeries and 3 months later they let me out of the hospital but forced me to wear permanent corrective underpants. As I healed, I grew frustrated about peoples lack of awareness about the dangers with light poles. I went on every light pole forum I could find and told them that light poles were bad for your junk. They didn't listen. Damn them. One day when a light pole hits their junk, they will know.

Just hitting the 'like' button isn't enough for that post. Another Haunted classic!

Bob i started off using cigalikes and had the same experience. Then i switched up to a triton from Halocigs and quickly figured out why i was having problems...the nic in blu and vuse is very high..so is the PG. I can not tolerate high nic or pure PG or i get those symptoms. Try a different device with a tank where you can experiment with nic, pg and vg levels because they can cause negative side effects if your sensitive to high amounts of any of those. You can then adjust your nic level and pg/vg as well. Too much vg i can't breath..too much pg my lungs are on fire...too much nic and i get a soar throat and sick to my stomach and have gastrointestinal problems.

I am glad you came here and shared your experiences...maybe we can help lead you in the right direction as well as others who read this post having the same issues. I hope you don't give up on vaping and take some suggestions on better devices and liquids that would better serve you. I really do believe it's the high nic that caused you all these problems...but cigalikes do not allow you to adjust those things and why many of us do not use cigalikes.

My son definitely vapes a dessert blend and it is nasty.

The strawberry & cream that I vape is a MASSIVE gunker... so if I vape it in a tank of any kind, the gunk backwash turns the whole tank brown very quickly, and my husband says that smells like burnt... um... crap, to use the polite word. :D So I have to vape it in an RDA, to prevent that horrible smell, and also prevent wasting massive quantities of extremely tasty ejuice -- because even when it turns brown and he says it smells horrible, it still tastes just fine. :D

The things we do for love... of great ejuice... ;)

Other than two very brief periods in the beginning, I haven't enjoyed a flavor for more than a minute, if that long.

It could very well have killed my vaping "career" but I learned to like plain.

That makes you very fortunate. Trying to vape my 86% PG without flavor, I think would taste a lot like vaping rubbing alcohol, or witch hazel, or something "medicinal" along those lines. When I smell the bottle of PG, it reminds me of the smell of a doctor's office, that "antiseptic" smell.
