Just spent a bit of time reading up on nicotine and migraines - which means I Googled it and read the first page of results, which is what counts for research these days.

The scientific stuff was mostly older and claimed that nicotine causes migraines, but that was mostly using smoking tobacco as the nicotine delivery system.

The newer stuff was almost entirely anecdotal and people were using ecigs, gum, patches or snus as the delivery systems, and there was a lot of reporting that nicotine was helping with migraine symptoms or keeping migraines away altogether.

I think this might be a case of the science falling behind actual user findings.

Anyway, between that thread and this thread, and what might constitute rather amazing benefits, I tend to think the reason Big Pharma shows up as anti-vaping isn't because of NRT's, but because they already know it has benefits which make pharmaceuticals a little less necessary.
I'd take that a step further, in that I believe their long-range goal is to start marketing nicotine-based drugs.

Glad I could be of help.

I'm compelled to note, while benefits are up for discussion, that I started a thread asking people about colds since vaping. Sorry to venture slightly off topic, but from that thread's respondents, it was fairly clear that many of us had experienced less colds since starting to vape. Like for me, I averaged 2 to 3 colds per year, whether I was smoker or non-smoker. As a vaper, I've had one cold in 4 years. I would say this was normal among thread participants, but some reported about same amount as always. In the last 2 days, I had fairly strong indication that I may be coming down with a cold, and as I noted in that other thread, this seems like something that occurs say once every 2 months. Feel like I'm getting a cold, yet within 2 days of that feeling the cold never sets in and I'm back to not having a cold. Currently, not feeling any cold symptoms. In the other thread, it was thought the PG (or perhaps VG) was the reason. Not sure. Your thoughts on this would be welcomed.

After this post, if I post again in this thread, I'll keep it on topic of vaping nicotine.

The cold prophylaxis has come up quite a few times in this thread, as well. For as long as I can remember I have never been too susceptible to colds, and I may have had one in the 10 years I've lived in FL. So, this may be one benefit of vaping that will be lost on me.

There have also been many threads regarding that subject throughout the years.

As for the colds and flu thing...

I used to get sick around twice per year.
The "symptoms to recovery" period lasting around a week.

Since I started vaping over five years ago I have only gotten sick once.
And the "symptoms to recovery" period was only about two days.

Even my wife doesn't get sick anymore.
I am tempted to attribute that to her getting a good dose of my high PG exhales on a nightly basis.
:)

I went 10 years or more without getting the flu, and very rarely a bad cold (less than annually but never bad enough to keep track). I got a bad case of the flu in November 2013, while I was still smoking. I quit smoking completely at the end of July 2014. In November 2014 I got the flu, again, when just about everyone else in town did too, in the same week. I got a cold a few weeks after I got over the flu, so this was the worst winter in memory. The PG disinfectant thing is not working for me. But I seem to be in the minority on that????

I had a headcold back in November that I think was actually *because* of vaping -- I was struggling with my breathing a lot then, so I started vaping some 90% PG, kept at it for about a week. It caused such severe drying and then burning of my nasal and sinus passages, it evidently gave the virus a place to enter, in minute cracks in the mucosa. However, as the first cold I've suffered since I switched to vaping, it was far less of an illness than any cold I've had in about 30 yrs; no chest congestion or involvement at all, just the headcold crap, and since there was no chest involvement, no coughing for 6 wks afterward. WIN! Other than that, I got thru the entire fall and winter unscathed, though my aunt and my parents both were down with some kind of cold or flu after xmas -- I was around them at xmas, but neither me nor my husband caught it. WIN!

As much as I love vaping, if I thought quiting would grow my missing follicles back I just might consider it. :)

I Think that the comment was about switching to vaping. When smoking, DC2 noticed slow growth of nails and hair. After switching to vaping, nails and hair grew more readily. That's for DC2 to comment on, but I like where this thread is finally starting to go so this post is, in reality, a bump :)

I wonder if it's more to do with the lack of CO, or the presence of PG... or maybe even VG? Might be that, I can't say I've really noticed a HUGE difference (I don't vape much VG, usually about 16%-17%), though I do seem to need to cut my nails more often. I like them long, but not interfering with my typing. :D

I like the lack of CO hypothesis. Good one, Andria!

If only that were the cause of my cold paws. :D We had 2-3 days in the 70s, now we're back in the 50s, and my hands are FREEZING -- and I haven't been outdoors since I went out to get the mail around noon! *sigh* Thank goodness spring is almost here. Maybe next winter I can take some nic-reduction steps and see if that helps any.

I think the lack of CO is why I now have so little difficulty with stairs or hills or dancing. My asthma did go out of control (though control is now back, thanks to Advair), but my cells are more fully oxygenated now, rather than CO taking so much of oxygen's place.

So I have constant migraines and ADHD, along with panic attacks and some social anxiety, woo!

Anyways I just started vaping, never smoked, started on 6mg, its working alright for me, It does give me more focus and for sure helps with panic attacks, I mean it really does a number on me and calms me down it seems. I have noticed less migraines also, which I am unsure if its just a good week for me or if its also helping with this...

Worth it for me, I just wish the whole thing wasn't so finnicky to be honest, coils, voltages, tank problems, etc.....I wish it was a bit less beta feeling, but I guess it is sorta still in its infancy.

It could be the nicotine, HillaryClinton. It's nice to see that you're getting some benefit. While I've never been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, my friend has and I have many similar symptoms. The nicotine has been helping with my focus, memory and energy.

Today I had a nice, but very long day on a short night sleep. Just got home about an hour ago and got a pretty bad headache, but once I re-dripped and took a few hits the headache lessened. It's still there, but it's not as intense, so it might be helping with your migraines.
