Anyone else hide while vaping in public? I always feel like im doing something wrong when people that dont know, see me smoking a battery(ego twist 1000 w a tank). I use an 808 sometimes but it still gets looks. In bars ill vape in the bathroom, not at the bar or outside to spare me a mouthfull of ecigology. Do people really know nothing about vaping? Smokers look at me like IM stupid. Lol. How does everyone else vape in public?

When I first started out, I'd never vape in public. Now I do it all the time, and I'm using a Provari with a tank. It's just something you get over. You might feel self-concious about it at first, like I did, but over time you'll find that people don't really care that much. I think when people first see you vape, they might have to think for a second about what you're doing (because they don't see it that often) but once they figure it out, they go along their merry way. I've had a few people ask me about it, but they are more intrigued than anything else. More often than not, they are interested in either trying it themselves, or they know someone who's wanting to quit smoking and they're gathering info to take back to that person..."hey, does that thing really work for you?"

Me personally I don't care. Keep in mind body language goes pretty darn far when you just don't feel like explaining vaping to people. It can be a pretty exhausting spiel sometimes. The last time I faced a SWARM of smokers outside, i separated myself from them. I really didn't want to be around it and few people came up to ask anything. At some bars I'll ask the bartender/owner if they mind if I vape inside, if I don't feel like the spiel I'll do what you do and vape in the bathroom.

I don't necessarily feel a need to vape when I'm at the store or shopping but if I feel like it, I vape because I know I'm not doing anything wrong.

Thinking back to being a smoker, we can be very defensive. Being such an ostracized bunch some smokers see vapers as "easy pickins" to "bully" in a sense or look down upon. It's stupid but a few quick snaps of your tongue usually makes most roll their eyes because.... they realize they're wrong even if they don't want to admit it to your face. They just want to make someone feel bad like they've felt bad ignoring that hello! That vaper knows how you feel, they use to(at times often still do) feel the same way still! If that makes any sense. If I have to deal with people like that I try to have compassion, be polite, provide facts and just let their hate roll off my shoulders.

You'll get used to it as you become more comfortable over time. I don't give a rat's..... behind over what anyone thinks or how it looks anymore. If you just vape openly, like you're not doing anything wrong, you may get a curious look here and there but most will go on about their business. Smokers at work may have thought it was stupid at first, but when they realized I was no longer smoking and could happily vape at my desk in the rain, heat, humidity, a few got curious enough to try it. A few went back to smoking, a few became part time vapers (they're working their way to full time), and one that only smoked 4-5 a day has completely replaced the smokes.

It's a personal journey for everyone, but you'll get used to it.

Hey if you haven't found it yet, get your 5 posts in and wait an hour for the server to reset so you can post in other forums and check out the Upstate NY Vapers forum. There are a lot of locals here. I've only managed to meet 1 because of my schedule, but there's a lot of support, and even some get togethers at vape friendly places. Upstate NY Vapers Club

Don't worry about everyone else. YOU know that what you are doing is much healthier than smoking. No chemicals that will destroy your mouth, throat, and lungs. No COPD in your future. No more bad breath. No more stinky clothes. No more stinky car or house (if you used to smoke in those places). And a world of other benefits from getting off the analogs.

With the tank setup, carry an extra drip tip or two. If you have the time and are in the mood, let some people try it. You never know as they may want to switch. People at work now know that I use a PV exclusively. I've got one convert and others that want to if they can get approval from their spouse. I use a big tube mod with a tank and get strange looks or comments sometimes, but, I just blow them off and keep doing what I do. It's my health. It's my choice. I'm happy leading a healthier life and I like being able to breathe, smell, and taste better now than in the last 15 or so years.

I guess im just gonna vape it up. Ive been smoke free for a month and a half now and if i had starter kits to sell people that are interested, i would be rich. Esp. If i did it more openly. Ive been thinking about getting a 5-10 kits from china as a group order for my family for cheap. They would vape if they had gear but none of em will order online. They all want me to do it. Smh. Thanks for the support ECF!

You know people have asked me about vaping and I have converted 2 smokers to vaping so if anything I want people to ask about it. I am the kind of person that doesn't really care what other people think about me. I have been known to be called an ....... That's just because I speak my mind and do what I do. I just think that if vaping is helping me to get off of smokes then I really don't care what people say about my ecig. I didn't smoke around people and I try not to vape around people. Just how I am. But if you feel the need to vape then just vape. Woot Woot

recently i was at a park with my 4 yr old, a couple sitting at a picnic table bhind me exclaimed that i was smoking a (MODERATED)....
i told them it wasnt but didnt elaborate because i was a little offended tbh. that i would b smoking a (MODERATED) at a park with my kid, not to mention many others along with their parents....i went and sat down and shortly thereafter, they both sparked up cigarettes while surrounded by not only their kids but many others....which offended me even more... that was very strange for me coming from being a long time smoker and suddenly being offended by their presence

I'm a registered nurse do any attention I attract is just an opportunity to educate people on vaping. People seem to recognize an "ecig" from the gas station but anything else they do look at you kinda strangely. Most people seem to be quite inquisitive about it though especially smokers. I mean what smoker doesn't wish they could quit.

I do the same thing. Grab the biggest and most obvious mod i possibly can. Just to get people to ask the question of what the hell is that. By the way though if on a military base and have a big mod put it in a case unless you are using it i had mine sticking outta my shirt pocket at the airshow today at JBLM and one of the MP's ran up to and grabbed me. Had to talk to him he thought it was some sort a detonator. He was cool about it just told me to keep it in the case unless i was using it so it was obvious what it was. He just hadn't seen one of the big mods and showed me his ego with a CE4. I have a bombshell with a tank, running stacked rcr134a batts let him try and he loved it. thus introducing another to the wonderfull world of big batt mods.
