Do you vape in public or not?

I was at a county fair last night and took along my 510 for my first sojourn out into public (if I was still a smoker I would have taken a pack with me) and went with my two aunts. Now while I was there I got stopped or had people stop in front of me to tell me how I was killing myself. They went on to tell me all about how what I was doing was illegal or soon to be illegal. What really surprised me was a lot of these people were smokers. Now when I was smoking 2 packs a day I never once had a smoker walk up to me and tell me how I was killing myself. I actually asked one smoker how long they had been smoking and it was about the same length of time I had been a smoker and I went on to ask them if they ever went a week without a cigarette of course their answer was NO. I went on to tell them that I quit without the cravings the need or the down right meanness that usually comes with quitting.

I would say I had about 40 people all together walk up to me or who happened to be standing near me that had a comment. Some of them were down right rude while others were just curious a few even asked for information and I told them about the forum and where I got my 510.

So for those of you that do vape in public is this the norm of the response you get or does it differ?

I don't go a lot of places, mostly because I had been caring for my housebound mother. But the few times I was out and a about and vaping, I have gotten stares, but only one comment!
That was from a security guard at the hospital. I was vaping right up to the front entrance and then dropped the E-cig in my purse..in front of him. He said.."you can't smoke on hospital grounds!" (in the superior..I don't smoke.. tone). I told him "I don't smoke" and started fishing out my E-cig..he says :I SAW the smoke!", I found the cig and flashed it at him and said"It's NOT a cigarette!". He gave me a dirty look and told me that his wife was a smoker and he was sure he smelled smoke!. Please..at 20 feet and through 2 glass doors! I plopped a card down and said "tell your wife to look up electronic cigarettes!"..
Do you know what that jerk had the nerve to say? "She can just quit cold turkey like I did!" That tells me he's a cheap, bitter s.o.b.!

Maybe we need to carry printouts of the FDA research on e cigs with the info about patches, gum, lozenges, cigs, and the black box warnings on Chantrix. All of which the FDA is approved and all of which (except chantrix) have the same chemicals in higher amounts that the liquid does. Does anyone but me find that it's odd that people think they have the right to come up to a total stranger and tell them their opinion on what they are doing. I see people doing things I don't agree with every time I leave my house, I would never ever have the audacity to go up to someone and confront them about stuff that is clearly none of my business. It's such a foreign concept to me.

Hey cranky, was your 510 one with an LED on it? If so, you would think folks would be able to tell the difference. Just goes to show that non-smokers want to 'see' smoking and get on their soap box for it. I really do not understand the smoker attitude. It boggles my mind.

It takes a lot for me to say something obnoxious to someone in public over something not my business.

This is the forum I meant, not the supplier forums..maybe they can help find your purple colored E-cig.
I know Jennee is on her honeymoon, but someone else can always use the info!

Good Prophets has a purple 901 atty, but I didn't see any purple batteries. I bet if you contacted Rob he would know where to get the batteries though, since he has to get his purple atty's from somewhere and whoever he bought them from probably also supplies purple batteries (if that makes sense :) ) Or he might be able to get them.

I have created a web page with information, videos and links to great Vaping information.
You can even print out a .pdf (it's 2 pages) to give friends, family, your Dr. or anyone else interested in finding out the truth about E-cigs and personal vaporizers.

Alternative to Smoking?

I'll be updating with new links as information continues to become available.
I'd love it if you'd PM me when you find links that will be useful to others.

With so many people asking us for information - it just doesn't all fit on a business card.

I think it's important that we have a way for people to actually read/see/hear what experts have to say. I want to keep the page as easy to understand and use as possible.

My goal is to keep it simple - and provide verifiable information that is useful to the general public - so they can decide for themselves whether they feel Vaping is an option they might explore, Employers who are creating company policy and Doctors whose influence could be life changing for their patients.

So far I only smoked twice in public: once in the mall and once in a diner. In the mall I did it hiding, afraid that someone would give me any comments or anything. And the time at the restaurant I simply explained to the waitress that it wasn´t a cigarette... She told me "I know"... I didn´t get the chance to explain that but...
