On my work break, I had someone ask me if I was smoking "one of those e-cigs" and mentioned he had liked it until his battery died. I just told him it helps to have two! A couple of co-workers know what they are and even wanted me to show them mine in the office (one was the supervisor!!).

Others look but don't say anything and I don't care. I sit at break with a friend who smokes and we do the same routine we always do... except I put mine in my case and she puts hers in the .... can. :) Only time I ever saw someone be hassled was in a crowded movie theather... only goes to show that you can't currently vape everywhere - even a midnight showing in the theater.

Also, there is always the option of holding in your hit. After 20-30 seconds there is no visible exhalation.

I don't hold my ecig like a cigarette anymore I hold it at the tip, not for discretion, just how my habit has developed. But it has the effect of hiding the light, and people think i am just chewing on a pen or something.

I have a black pen style..rn4072 with a blue tip..

i hold the end to...people think im chewing on a pen lol

My first post!

I kinda enjoy some of the looks, though have yet to field any questions from strangers who have seen me smoking, sorry - vaping it. I wonder if that might be different if I was using a larger model, though with the blue light its already fairly unusual
Welcome to the ECF!!

Me and my wife started vaping two weeks ago and a couple days ago we were at the grocery store and i was vaping when no one else was around and she kept yelling at me to stop. I told her that vaping in public should be half the fun besides it made it alot easier to deal with her crazy coupon obsession which has us stopping and digging through piles of coupons every two minutes.

I think vaping in public could potentially find us some new friends or at the very least get us engaged in some good conversations. I hope she opens up and chills out soon. Maybe i should get her to register on the forum and be an active poster and everyone on here can convince her it's not taboo.

I feel like this when i was first vaping i did it everywhere. As a former smoker i was sick and tired and being told where i could smoke and being looked down upon because i smoked i dont mind people looking at me funny and the brave ones come and ask me and then i try to spread the word about the vaping movement. A very good quote i try to live by is this:
You would'nt care so much about what other people think of you if you knew just how little of the time they spend thinking about you because they are too busy thinking about themselves. As people we spend most of our day thinking about ourselves not that guy with the funny looking cigarette thing...

Does anyone else struggle with vaping in public? Hopefully this will all pass and eventually i just won't give a damn what people think.

I use an SD MKII and use the lanyard so that I can carry it in the open when I'm out and about - much easier to carry, and it also gives me the opportunity to introduce eCigs to my friends and others. We need to grow the community to prevent being legislated against......

HEY GUYS!! we have to remember that most people dont know about vaping and the fact they are looking at us vaping could open their minds to the idea of an e-cig so us putting our self 'on the spot' might have a good effect on the public for our fellow vapers and might save lives by getting the average person that wouldnt have tryed it to convert

How can anyone have a problem with vaping once e-cigs have been explained to them?

- I used to kill myself slowly with cigarettes, but I now vape & live healthily.
- I haven't had a cigarette since the day I started vaping.
- My e-cig delivers nicotine and no other harmful substance.
- They taste great and come in almost any flavor, including chocolate!
- There is almost no odor.
- They are more like a boiling kettle than a cigarette.
- The exhaled vapor kills airborne viruses, so they help prevent the spread of disease.

If anyone has a problem with that, they are definitely not worth worrying about.

Just started vaping the past week and I'm loving it .. Saw this post and had to reply!! Was vaping on a pretty busy street today and got so many looks and turn-arounds from people! I felt pretty akward and atleast I know I'm not alone (rofl). But with the popularity of these PV's on the high rise I'm pretty sure it won't be like that for much longer! I just hate having the feeling that people are thinking that I'm smoking crack or something ridiculous out of my VK!! :2cool:

DEEP IN THE HEART OF TEXAS!
folks are like that, i hear, in Cali. here in rural Texas, we have plenty of cafes/restaurants that you can smoke analogs in, you can run into fillin' stations with a ciggie in your hand. we have drive thru tobacco barns and drive thru beer barns!

I was vaping today in public and one of those anti-smokers started coughing, out of reflex when she saw me billowing out clouds of smoke. She gave me a funny look later when I took that cig and put it in my pocket. That gave me a tickle :)

In no way was smoking in public cool. But at least i was mixed in with other smokers when i was smoking cigarettes. Therefore i kinda blended in with them. Now when i vape in public i feel like everyone is looking at me. I can't help but wonder what they are thinking. They probably think i am smoking some illegal substance or something. I don't even feel comfortable around other smokers while vaping. I feel as if i am drawing attention to myself. I am a pretty shy guy and do not like any extra attention.

I am truly understanding how u are feeling. I too use to "fit in" with fellow smokers outside on the side of the building, now that I've switched to vaporing, I have yet to find that comfort zone (I'm just one week into it, but have a hard time "hanging" with the smokers now) I really hate the smell of analogs now, I want more people to become aware of how easy the transition can be, but I don't want to be the spokeperson or the expert on e-cigs. I can only tell them to research as I did and see if this is something you would try, but to everyone who decides to ask me can be overkill!!!!!

Did a Live Show tonight from a Starbucks that is open 24/7 that is located in East Brunswick, New Jersey near Rutgers College, Covered for Jason Vaporflow he had a wedding tonight. Had one guy who was interested in the Esmoker 510 Travel Kit from Esmokeronline.com that was sent to me for review, and for the purpose of people to try it for the first time. All the ladies I asked to try it, they were Cam shy. Will continue this mission of vaping awareness with letting people try them. He also tried my Big Chuck Mod, but liked the Esmoker 510 Travel Kit BETTER. Gave him the Esmoker web site to buy this kit.
A YOU TUBE VIDEO REVIEW OF THIS KIT WILL BE DONE IN A FEW DAYS FROM ME.

Actually felt the same way, especially when vapeing indoors due to indoor smoking ban. But, I bowl in a league and was vapeing tonight in front of everyone. I had 3 smokers ask me about it and where to get information about PV's so I gave them this website. I did have one non- smoker tell me I couldn't smoke inside, but I just told him it was a fake cigarette and only emitted water vapor and he said that was fine once he realized there was no odor.

DOn't know how they define it in your state but I was recently researching this thing on the smoking ban....and found this definition for smoking in the info on the NY smoking ban
"Smoking" means the burning of a lighted cigar, cigarette, pipe or any other matter or substance which contains tobacco.

we aren't burning anything. Plus they don't contain tobacco. :)

I don't really stealth it. but pull it out take a puff or two then put it away. to be honest I kinf of glad to get away from the "go to smoking area, put everything on hold, stand in place and do your thing" scenario. I think its really nice to be able to just pull it out and use it then put it away.
with a cigarette you have to sit there and keep smoking until either it is finished or your time is up and you have to toss the rest. Maybe subconsciously I'm avoiding smokers, I've wondered that, maybe afraid of temptation? Also wonder if I'm just not wanting to be associated with smoking and smokers. Not sure yet.
.....just realized something, today was the first day I went all day without a thought about having a cigarette. Cool.

Not that I want to be one of THOSE exsmokers...but... My hubby and I went to a wedding reception....and joined everyone out on the smokers deck area....and absolutely gagged at the smell. (at that time we'd only been vaping about 3 weeks)
