I have yet to take my PV anywhere but I'm feeling that omg everyone is going to be staring at me look and so I'm a little hesitant. I think I'm afraid I'll take it in the movie theater or something and they kick me out for no reason. And of course I'd start a scene cause there isn't anything wrong with them. it's hard to explain something to someone when they have a one track mind and are mad LOL

Yeah I have this same problem with my gf she has one of those one track minds.

I went out with some friends and we were having a few drinks at a non-smoking bar. I felt weird taking it out and using it. My girl friend was like why did you buy it if you were going to be shy using it. Shes a non-smoker so it shocked me when she took it out of my purse and started using it lol....she looked at me and was like here ya go I broke the ice for you. It was pretty cool though because after that I didn't feel weird anymore. Our bar tender even started asking positive questions about it and I hooked her up with this web site. So it all worked out great. I don't think I'll be nervous again. <3 good friends.

I was happy to see this post, because being new to vaping, I definitely feel the same way! My first e-cig really resembled a true analog (white battery, brown cart, red tip). I just bought a vapor king, and the battery is now metallic red and the tip lights up blue. I find it feels a little less awkward because it doesn't look like Im "pretending to smoke" and is actually a good conversation starter. The one thing though that I don't think I will change is vaping in places where smoking is banned. I understand its not violating any laws and there is no second hand smoke etc., but its not worth drawing the extra attention, getting people upset, and having to explain myself. I wouldn't want to draw any negative attention to e-cigs, justified or not. Worse case I'll just sneak a few hits in the bathroom! :)

So far since Wednesday, i have used it in a Cinema (Harry Potter), in a resturant (the meal after the above), in a Supermarket (asda) and in my Doctors Surgery (that i must admit was a bit cheeky), but the receptionist knew what it was by the Blue tip, and politely informed a couple of tut tutters and "you can`t do that in here" peeps that it was not a cigarette and it was ok... i guess i am a bit of a show off but meh, i got this to use it and not have the health risks of a normal cigarette and if i have to try and educate peeps about it then so be it :)

edit..to be honest most people with very few exceptions are curious rather than hostile, the wonders of a blue tip i suppose .

I'll admit that when I first started vaping I felt a little uncomfortable. It didn't last long, especially when people ask me about my eGo! I've had more positive remarks and encouraging comments since I started vaping that I'm no longer self-conscious about it. I'm even vaping more openly in the office these days. No one seems to mind at all!

Just wait until you get your first battery mod and it looks like you are puffing drugs out of a sex toy.... That really does get some attention lol. Happy vaping!

No joke lol. I have a 5v tube mod i bought and its pretty noticeable. Ive been pulled over for speeding and had to explain to the cops what it was too and they were amazed. Amazingly when i went to the Amusement Park (six Flags) they really didn't care. i told them it was an e-cig and they were cool. I wonder how tsa will feel about it or the security guards at the courthouse when i go in for Jurry Duty next Month lol

I felt self-conscious at first, because it does look a little odd. The upside of it being noticeable, is that people ask questions. I've actually talked a few people into giving the e-cig a try this way. When I'm out at the bar, in addition to my bottle of e-juice and pcc, I keep a dropper bottle of alcohol to wipe the tip off if anyone's curious enough to give it a try.

Standard feeling when your new to vaping. Im not going to say anything different than anyone else whos posted here. But my two year mark is approaching and I still feel a little like people are watching me when out in public. You get used to it and eventually, you'll develope your own canned response to peoples inquiries. I saw Brad point out how some folks get all interested and ask how much a kit costs, then they say they dont have money for that... as they light up their $10 a pack cigarette. You'll experiecne it all if you vape long enough. From people who assume your smoking so they start coughing as they walk by you, to people who are interested in it, to people who dont even give you a second glance. Be proud that you've made the switch, explaine the benefits when asked, and you will do just fine.

Here, there, everywhere!
When people I know make fun of me I just kindly ask them if they want me to go back to smoking real cigarettes, they change their tune really quick:) I know it is different and the pretty light at the end is strange but I like vaping and I don't intend to change my "New" habit! (I am however VERY glad I have decided what I like - WHEW I am tired of sampling $$$).

I get quite a few odd looks throughout the day while vaping. I've taken upon myself to confront (not the best way to describe it) anyone who is looking a bit to hard. With my up front approach I've converted four people since I started vaping in October. I'm usually not a guy that will talk to someone I don't know. But, if I'm vaping a someone looks interested/curious about what I'm doing I will let them know about it.

I discovered e-ciggs only yesterday and have been in an absolute frenzy to learn more about it since then; my throat hurts and I haven't felt well for a long time, but at the same time I crave the smoke. Reading this thread I can't wait to order my own, the stories and the humour you've all shared makes me envious that I can't be out there showing off and educating right now too.

What really helped for me was making my e-cigs somewhat of a novelty item. On my Prodigy V3 I designed it with a decal plotter to make it say "Salsero" so that wasn't just some gimmick (some people think e cigs are a joke) but rather something thats also representative of myself. I got very different looks from before and after I made my PV truly "Mine" and something personal. Just my 2 cents

i also found that e cigs with a different colored led end cap get more looks but aren't mistaken for a cigarette. Since i started vaping at my normal pub they don't mind me vaping inside and actually encourage it. Normal smokers that are in there give me a double take and ask me what it is so i started carrying disposable alcohol wipes so i can clean it and let them try.
