So far I have saved £22.71 Which is great news.....but

....I have spent £285.15 on vaping. I only started on Monday.

My bank account is dreading me stopping smoking for a month

My bank manager will be phoning me after 3 months...have not even considered mods at this stage

I don't think it is if you just find what you like and stick with it. It's like everything else. If you experiment with all the flavors and accessories you can run up quite the tab. I've been really disappointed in the batteries. I use joye Ego 1000, and I am a heavy user. Since february, my batteries stopped holding a charge very long and the vapor production was off. So I got new ones already. That makes it kind of pricey if I have to replace them that often. I also bought a pass through system, which I love.

LOL.
I've been vaping for about six weeks (and bought not one but two KGO kits in that time, along with lots of smaller/sample sizes of juices which of course are more expensive) but even so, I'm only behind about $100 of what I would have spent on smokes in that same time. Going forward I expect it to be a lot cheaper, since I've identified some juices I like and plan on buying in bulk next.

However I have quit smoking, am not coughing in the morning, feel great about it all and my non-smoking friends are behind me all the way. Oh, and I have two, perhaps three, potential converts to vaping since I started.

That's priceless. :)

It is more expensive, but I guess it depends how you approach it. According to my sig I had just broken even a couple of weeks ago and saved ~60 bucks already. But just now I had to update it, and my break even date is somewhere in May. I bought something I really didn't need; I can't say that I wouldn't be able to vape without it, or that I couldn't stay off cigarettes without it. I just wanted it

It can be more expensive in the beginning. Eventually you will be able to curb your spending, maybe even sell off some of the stuff you don't like or use anymore. Once things have settled down, you will find that you are spending a LOT less... Wher I live, they are taxing the heck out of ciggys and they cost about $9 per pack for brand names... Ouchy! I was rolling my own before I found vaping. I'm broke right now as I bought an ego kit at retail. But, I did get in on a really good sale, so I have enough juice here to last maybe 6 months! I don't even have to spend another penny!

Ha! Welcome to my world! I have spent a lot on this new "hobby." However, what I've saved beyond the monetary side of the equation cannot be equaled. Yes, I'm still getting a little nicotine. What I'm not getting is.. dead. My lungs are working better. My heart is working better. My blood pressure is down. Eh, my tolerance for idiocracy and stupidity... wavers. Yeah, I've spent the money, but I'm secretly emoting the mad, wicked laugh knowing I'll be around for a while to foil the plans of BT (and a few others).

Its just to easy to spend....

Looking at some more juice and "ooh that sounds nice" add to cart "ooh that sounds good to" add to cart... pay with paypal I don't even have to go and find my credit card....

Don't look at statement, don't look at statement :)

I have now started to find the flavors (or categories) that I like....just to many to try...

Thats what I keep trying to tell myself... knowing my luck I will be hit by a bus tomorrow :)

Yep. Find a setup that works for you. Don't get distracted by the newest, flashiest, blingiest, most high tech hardware. You can usually find the previous version on sale in the classies after a month or so if you feel you really have to try it.

I was *seriously* in the negative numbers for about the first 6 weeks or so. Now, I don't purchase (unless it's to fix or replace something broken) until I hit break even.

I'm about 8 days away right now... technically I'm good, but there are a few favorite juices that I'm starting to get low on. We'll see. :D

I started in Jan & it hardly costs me anything now. I made my own vv box mod for under £5 (or under $8) I mix my own juice & have litres of the stuff. I also invested in a Bulli atomiser, mesh, wire & wick is cheap. The only thing I buy is clearmisers for the wife who also started vaping in Jan. However I buy them in lots of 20 from China.
Even if you buy all the gear that you need after your initial purchases you just need to buy your juice & atomisers. Even if they banned vaping supplies I would be vaping for years to come as I can make my own mods & if needed I could make my own atomiser & the rest I can't go into detail about here. So I can't understand why anyone needs to spend large amounts of money on expensive gear to vape. An ego battery & charger, some clearmisers, or cartomisers & your juice & thats all you need to vape.

I just found this information. Sounds like I may have been kidding myself that I would save money. However, we pay an extra $200/mo in health insurance because of my smoking. I haven't talked to Blue Cross/Blue Shield about getting that taken off and whether or not I qualify as a non-smoker if I'm still getting nicotine. I know I have to be a non smoker for a year before they will remove that extra charge.

I just passed my 10 month mark. What worked for me was only allowing myself the same amount of money I would have spent on cigs each week to buy my new vaping toys. I haven't gone over yet, and some weeks, I spend half of what it used to cost me. I'm actually stocked for months, but if a new shiny catches my eye...

The nicotine in your system can be explained by nic patches so its prob best not to mention vaping. We don't have that prob in uk as we don't need medical insurance with our national health service. I could say everyone is treated for free but they deduct a percentage of everyones wages to pay for it. Having said that, there is no discrimination or extra charges if you smoke.

Its such a big world of bits... I just bought two clearomizers at £5 each to try and compare to the carts i have been using...

it just adds up very quickly...

I have told myself I will not even consider replacing my riva until the 4 batteries I bought for it (spare for work, spare for car, one in use and one on charge :)) fail.

But it is the juices that are costing me as I try and narrow down what I like..

You need to avoid listening to people telling you what to buy. No matter what you own you will run into a bunch of someones telling you to buy something else (what they own) when you ask how to correct an issue. Don't fall into that trap, you can be sure whatever they own will come with its own issues.

I would be about $50 from being even but I just backed everything up and rounded out some juices I didn't really need to (good to have backups there too).

Now that I'm getting an idea of my juice and atty useage I should be about $100 a month for e-cigs vs about $150 a month for cigarettes. If my batteries last 2 months, which shouldn't be a problem, I should be able to easily break even.
I may have enough juice to go 2 months, I probably won't make it that long without wanting something (I'm sure I'll at least want to cut nicotine by then).

I was recently thinking if I had switched to name brand cigarettes before switching to vaping it would be a lot easier to break even.

I cannot understand how ya'll spend more on vaping than smoking. I know how ya'll do it - I just cannot understand how ya'll do it. Me - I am using the money I am saving to enjoy the extra spring in my life that I have gained.

I have about a 6 - 7 month supply in my cabinet at this moment (juice, nic, PG/VG, flavorings, batts, atty's, carts, clearo's, etc.). I have been vaping for about 7 - 8 months. I only buy and stock up during sales, I have 4 basic setups with PV's, chargers and batteries and I have spent less than 2 months of my cig costs. That means if I did not buy anything else for the next 6 months I would vape for free for over 12 months...

Well, that is certainly true - about the carto. But I spend about <$20 / month in juice (DIY), and about the same in cartos and atties. A lot of the money was spent supply hoarding and on devices. I also added to the amount, so as to be honest, the money wasted on the V2 deluxe kit.
