Aha... reading this thread paid off for me! New response to "you're still smoking"..... Nope, I'm smoke-free. Any come back will get the same response... kinda like just rank and serial number nothing more.... no further engagement. Yup... I like that.

yeah, I like that too :thumb:
Not that anybody ever dared mess with me in this regard - I know a lot of people, but none of them are that stupid - but it is a nice thing to remember for the future. :)

I love it when they do it with a cup of coffee in their hand. "Let me tell you what's in that cup you have there. BTW, did you know that the antifreeze you mentioned is in your toothpaste?".

It's funny when someone asks if there is nicotine in that thing we cannot lie and say no. I believe there is an 'honesty gene' which is developed through nicotine. It really is weird. Everybody lies all the time about everything. Why can't we just lie about this. Maybe it's a religious thing - I don't know.

"Sure I vape nicotine now feel free to persecute me."

I have had folks ask me "What are you smoking there?" And have gotten various responses to my explanation of the vapor vs smoke and if indeed I am still smoking.

I usually answer that my Doctor does not consider me a smoker anymore & congratulated me on it.

The subject gets changed pronto.

My doctor was on my case in a concerned way about smoking. When I finally started vaping and tapered off the cigs he was excited about it. From then on the list of questions went like this:

"Still not smoking?"
No, I've quit completely.
"Still using your electronic cigarette?"
Yes, I am.
"Good! Keep on using it."

He even put a pamphlet stack in his waiting room for a while that explained ecigs and how they could help smokers quit.

It's always nice to hear about doctors who do more than toe the party line.

Me too ... YAY for Andria! I actually didn't know you were a dual-user. (I don't know if "dual-user" is the respectful term for it. If it's not, I will sincerely apologize, and then learn the more appropriate term.) I presume you're making progress in replacing time smoking with time vaping in your daily life.

(I haven't read much of the last several pages of this thread before posting this. I'm just excited about coming back after a two week absence because of my stupid health issue, and in my excitement, I'm doing more writing of posts than reading of posts, I'm afraid. I know... I should really write less and read more.)

I'm happy for you, in any case. :)

It was actually a health issue that caused me to temporarily go back to very light smoking -- my appendix just *insisted* that it be outside me rather than inside me, and that went fine, but the aftermath for someone with IBS is just ungodly -- 4 days of no food, vape, or even much to drink, resulted in equally ungodly cravings, and as massively dehydrated as I was, I just didn't think vaping was really in my best interest, at least until I got a handle on the dehydration/electrolyte imbalance. But, 3 1/2 wks of attending to that with coconut water and other high-potassium dietary additions, and increasing vaping as I decreased smoking, has brought me back to smoke-free, vape-only.

Yesterday, my first day back to vape-only, was pretty easy. Today wasn't bad, but on the way home from our monthly-housecleaning at my parents', running into several igmos who see '50 MPH' and think it says '05 MPH' had me nearly frothing at the mouth. I was craving a cigarette desperately, and I told myself, 'ok, you can have one when you get home, if you still really feel you need it, but it's just postponing the inevitable'.... so I didn't have it. YAY! Hurray for procrastination and the wisdom to leave that open pack at home. :D

Thanks for the clarification. I'm glad you're OK after your "rogue appendix" incident. ;)

And we're all proud of you for your persistent willpower in the battle against cigarette cravings. We all know how tough those can be. I've been fortunate to not have them since I began vaping in January. But times when I tried quitting before that in my life... Extremely tough. It must be what it feels like to be a vampire and suffer cravings for blood. As if you're going to die unless you get some.

Congrats on your progress! :thumb:

That's true! My arsenal currently is both vv3's, both topped with rayon-wicked mini PT IIs, one with my morning 11mg, one with blueberry muffin, and my sigelei+kayfun with my ADV Virginia -- I think it's really the rayon that makes the big difference, being able to actually TASTE the juice! But the hardest part for me was reacquiring the taste for vapor vs. smoke -- for me it's almost entirely about taste, and until I got back to the point where the vapor tasted better to me than the (bleah) cigarettes, I really struggled.

I become so amazed at the people who are experts on smoking and vaping and they have never even tried either one....

I think those must be the so-called "pundits". They know NOTHING so they can't be called experts, and the media is not ready for the honesty of calling them "ignorant stuffed-shirts". :D

I've been rewicking my pt 2's with cotton. Much better flavor then the stock wicks.

I never could get anything but a burnt taste, using cotton in those small tanks; I was using the organic cotton very successfully in my kayfuns, excellent flavor, but in the small tanks, just burnt. When I started trying out the rayon, I figured I'd try it out in my Mini PT II's, and whaddya know, it works great, and no burnt taste! I had the same exact problem with cotton in my kayfun nano, but rayon has finally let me start using that, without the burnt taste. It's just amazing stuff.

I so agree with this Andrea. Its all about taste. I don't inhale but do like TH and, unfortunately, like the taste of smoke... ugh... but then I like burnt popcorn too.

the burnt flavor comes from not using the right amount.....takes some tinkering to figure it out. Too much cotton and air flow is poor, and you get a bad flavor from the cotton. Not enough cotton and you get hot spots in your coil, causing burnt taste....right amount of cotton and yum!

OMG, I know, right?

For instance, last night I posted pics from a vapemeet I attended locally and one of my friends went on a diatribe about how much better it was when people just smoked cigarettes and didn't run around with pipes hanging out of their mouths and not stinking the place up with the smells from their vapor flavors and how vapid he thinks they look.

This was one of my friends so I was irked.

Yeah, like that many cigarettes being smoked wouldn't have stunk the place up at all, right?

And one other factor he seems to have totally disregarded: if we had all just remained cigarette smokers, very few of us would have met at all -- without e-cigs, many of us might already be dead or dying! -- and if we did meet, we might or might not have had anything else in common -- to judge from all the personality conflicts, strategy disagreements, and political arguments around this place, if we'd all happened to meet, it might have just been WWIII right then and there. :D Instead we have a common goal -- getting free of cigarettes in a much easier way than anything that came before e-cigs -- and common enemies -- the ANTZ, the FDA, and other ignorant folks who know nothing about e-cigs, yet want to "regulate" us.
