I have a 1 year old and a 2 year old and was curious about how the other parents here handle their vaping at home and or around their children. Do you sneak into other rooms? Do you mind if your child sees you using your devices? vape inside or go outside? What is your routine around the kids?

Single dad with three 6yo kids here. They had seen me smoke the occasional cigar in the evenings and hated the smell. When I started vaping, they asked what it was. I said it was a vaporizer. They haven't asked a single question since and there are no complaints about the smell.

However, I do have to be careful about leaving the Nemesis/Kayfun unattended. It has seen double duty as a toy rocket a few times. Luckily, they didn't figure out the lockout ring! :)

Wow this is great feedback. It's good to see that the children are supportive about it and you all aren't affraid to vape around them. Mine are so young I was curious how the older 4-10 year old children view it, what kind of feedback they give you. I go to the other room right now and try not to do it in front of them because I'm still stuck in the "gotta hide it to be a good parent" smoker's way of thinking. Just to be honest and I feel I need to break that habit.

As I see it...
when your kids are big enough to remember the difference between smoking and vaping they will surely be supportive as they didn't liked the smell and can see the real improvement, but in my case a 3 year old and a 5 month they didn't saw the disgusting smoking habit they just know the new one and I think in this case it is a bad example

My son's 3 year old boy is told that this is grandma's medicine. I make sure my stuff is hidden away when we visit any of the kids. The only thing out is my PV and it's pretty much in my hand the whole time. If i do set it down, it's well out of reach.

I used to tell the g'kids......after I'm done with this cig then we can do x, y or z. Now I just put down the PV and we do whatever. Now they get told 'after I'm finished with my coffee'. Why oh why are kids blessed with sooooo much energy in the morning?!?!?

If I could only bottle that......

Kids are 11 and 15. I have never smoked in any house I have lived in. I have always smoked outside, but the kids knew I smoked and they were never allowed around while I was smoking.

Started vaping 1-2 years ago. I do not vape inside. I still go outside. Pretty darn cold at 0 degrees, so I have been hitting the garage lately.

I do vape in my car with my kids and wife. I will not vape in my wife's car. Outside I vape around my kids all the time.

Haha yeah kid energy has to be experienced to be explained.

I was thinking last night about how much I'm a big advocate for vaping, how I have converted 4 employees from smokes yet I hide it from my kids. It makes no sense. Why am I hiding something I believe in so much?

Like vapero said I guess when they get old enough they will be thankful.

I thought that kids whose parents smoke are very much more likely to smoke themselves as adults. Since my 5yo doesn't understand the difference between smoking and vaping, she'll think I'm smoking. I would never have smoked in front of her when I was a smoker, and I'll never vape in front of her (until she's old enough to know the difference)

I have an 8 year old and a 2 year old. Unfortunately the 8 year old has been subjected to some of the bad media surrounding ecigs, and while he concedes that they're better for me then smoking, he'd like to see me stop using ecigs as well. The 2 year old just likes things that light up... I'm working on the 8 year old, but it's an uphill battle. He sees it on TV, even better, he sees it on the news, and so to him it must be true. He's even worked out some reasoning of his own for wanting to see me stop. He says it's still best to just breathe air, and on that, I really don't have much of an argument aside from "Mommy might go back to smoking if mommy can't use an ecig".

We have a 4 year old daughter and 2 year old son, we never smoked in the house (but didn't hide it from them). They would see me rolling a cig and straight away say "me outside too?".

We do still go outside to use our pv but I will sometimes use it in the kitchen at busy times (would never have done that with a cig).

Once the kids are in bed we take our pv into the lounge and watch tv etc. We never smoked in the cars and I wouldn't vape in the car either.

This is pretty much my thought process. I vape so I don't smoke around them and I don't want them to think I'm smoking and grow up thinking that's way it is because they grew up around the whole process of it being so similar visually to smoking.

So down to the nitty gritty here the question really is does exposure to vaping parents lead to vaping kids and if it does is that a bad thing? Will it lead to smoking kids?

That sounds like a nice in between.

From personal experiences, just because the parents smoked does not necessarily mean the child will. My ex's parents both smoked yet none of their three kids smoked.

My dad and stepmom smoked but my half brother never smoked.

Yeah that is another good point. Sometimes them seeing the dark side of smoking sways them in the opposite direction.

It's hard to pick a side.
