People have the right to walk away? Really? I stopped at that and couldn't read anymore!

Rude, people are just plain out rude. This confirms my belief this community is just getting worse and worse. We aren't a community anymore, just a bunch of selfish people who believe they should have their rights over anyone elses beliefs. Who cares about someone else, cause I am going to do what I want and if you don't like it WALK AWAY!

LOL great belief system, great belief.

Too bad. If you had kept reading, you would have realized that I'm no exception and as a smoker I shared your stand, but not as a vaper. There are things I don't like to see or hear in public, but when I do, I simply walk away. If I don't like it, I don't subject myself to it. They have the same option.

Like I said, maybe not wherever, whenever; but certainly not confined to the "smoking quarters" as it were. Besides, what right of theirs am I infringing upon? The right to breathe air? But air is, mostly at least, widely dispersed...you guessed it WATER VAPOR! Their right does not supersede my own. Again, when I was smoking their right to clean air did in fact supersede my own right to smoke, but with no evidence that it is harmful, I am not harming anyone, and therefore not impeding anyone's right to anything.

Had bacon and mushroom pizza for lunch.

I do not vape anywhere smoking is not allowed. I don't think it's a good idea based on the fact that not everyone understands it yet. I wshl the government would just leave us all alone, but that is not likely to happen any time soon. And yes it would suck if others who choose to vape everywhere ruin it for the rest of us. But we have no control of others.

What is the big deal of not vaping where smoking is not allowed? Can you not go without your vape that long? Seriously lets get real!
The list where smoking is not allowed gets larger and more egregious by the day.

They started by banning smoking indoors.
Then they started banning it near the doors.

Now look where they are starting to try and ban it in various places around the country...
--In public parks
--On public beaches
--Anywhere on a college campus, including parking lots
--Anywhere on a hospital campus, including parking lots
--In your own car with children present
--In government owned public housing

There are even ban attempts underway that include public streets!!

And when we start letting them include electronic cigarettes in those bans...
Which is exactly what they usually try to do...

Some day we'll all be screwed.

If we roll over and comply, they'll walk all over us.
Just like they did with smoking.

When I go to a baseball game at Petco Park, I have to leave the ballpark to vape.
I do not find that acceptable in any way.

when did we automatically lose the right to do something that is legal?

To the best of my recollection, sometime in the early 80s. Seriously ...

I really can't recall anyone ever felt compelled to publicly assualt the personal behavior of another prior to that time, unless the activity was a clear and immediate danger. People were more tolerant ...

I'll admit I am not a cronfrontational person, and dread the unwanted attention that "smoke hostility" can bring in public. I really can't imagine assualting another human being just because I disapproved of the content of their exhalations, and its theoretical negative impact. But that is socially acceptable behavior now, like it or not, and is often rewarded with admiration and attention, the very thing that insecure people crave the most ...

No easy answer to this dilemna. I will continue to stealth vape wherever I can, stand by my honest claim that I am not smoking, and hope that sanity and reason prevail in this battle ...

And maybe the zealots of the world find someone else to pick on ...

Just want to throw my two cents in on this...
I feel as though it is up to the individual businesses whether or not they will allow vaping in their establishments. All businesses reserve the right to refuse service. This means, if you pull out your e-cigarette in their store, they have the right ask you to put it away or leave. Or to just leave! And that is perfectly fine. Usually, I can wait the 10 minutes it takes me to pick up groceries. However, if I'm going somewhere like a movie theater, where I will be inside for a while, I will ask management if they mind BEFORE pulling out my e-cigarette. But that is a matter of courtesy, not legality. Someone can let their child kick and scream and throw a tantrum through a movie. Is it rude? Absolutely, but it's not illegal. And if management doesn't like that it's disrupting other customers, they CAN ask the person to leave.

The sports/concert arena in my area has signs up prohibiting e-cigarette use in addition to smoking, and I respect that. I think that, if businesses don't want people to use e-cigarettes inside, it is their responsibility to either put up signs or let e-cigarette users know that they cannot vape inside their business.

Greetings from North County ! :D

Just hop on the trolley and stroll into Tijuana. You can smoke, vape, or spit watermelon seeds all day anywhere, its a refreshing break from an over-regulated SoCal environment ...

Mexico invoked a national smoking ban a few years ago. In the border towns, it lasted exactly 2 1/2 weeks (I actually counted the days), then the paper "No Fumar" signs came down and the ashtrays came back. Mexicans simply chose to ignore a ridiculous law, and people there are far more tolerant of the personal behavior of others ...

Mexico is far from perfect, but I do love the "live and let live" attitude ...

I was going to stay silent but seems I'm compelled to say something...Its not about that its all about control..Some people are control freaks there is nothing they like more than to tell an adult they can't do something that is legal

Every time we have a thread like this, there seems to be a lot of people who think the other side is advocating vaping anywhere, anytime, and screw everyone else.
I don't know why they think the other side is arguing that, because they are not.

In reality, both sides are in almost unanimous agreement that any vaping should be done with respect for others.
The only issue seems to be what exactly encompasses having respect for others.

Anyone that wants to allow vaping only where smoking is allowed is an extremist in my book.

I think some are saying exactly that.

For the record, I don't vape where you can't smoke, but there are some exceptions. I took my son to his karate class today (it's an hour and a half long) and obviously, I'm not going to vape in there. However, I did take a quick vape when I went to the restroom - and I would never have smoked a cigarette in the restroom of the karate studio. I even vaped last week when walking down a long corridor that connected two wings of a hospital (enclosed). There was nobody else in the corridor and I took a quick vape, but I wouldn't sit in the waiting room of the hospital and start vaping.
