I think it's solder no silicone btw I cannot find seen any silicone on the VF but maybe under the hood.
Agree...

I could see it better there that it was just scratches in the surrounding aluminum I guess I was seeing that I mistook for clear silicone when I was expecting to see a part of the plastic sled that held the positive pin -- my apologies everyone!

Sweet, the waiting begins again. :)

"2015-04-03 09:07
Shenzhen, left the treatment center and sent to USJFKF"

"Origin Post is Preparing Shipment, We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece."

Looks like our packages have been transit buddies so far! Mine flew out 42 mins after yours.

Shenzhen, left the treatment center and sent to GBLALA

However I don't then have the next line about Preparing Shipment.

And I have absolutely no idea what airport "LALA" is meant to be - it sounds a bit worrying to be honest, I don't want it going lala! Your airport code made sense (Well, assuming you were expecting it to land at JFK), but there's no LAL airport (well there is but it's a tiny airport in Florida, not in GB),

I would expect LHR (Heathrow) or LGW (Gatwick).

Oh well, I'm sure it's going to the right place :)

Unfortunately it's the Easter 4 day weekend, so once it lands in the UK I'd expect it to do nothing until Tuesday at the earliest.

Still, it's been moving fairly smoothly so far and so I'm still pleasantly surprised!

fear not mate. Next update should be LANGLEY HWDC but by the time you actually see this, it will be probe have been delivered already. Mine took about 3 days after the GBLALA update!

Oh sweet, thanks mate!

So I guess I be hoping for the end of next week, given it's unlikely to take only three days from today as it's Good Friday.

I need to get myself some batteries! I will order those over the weekend for dispatch on Tuesday.

Speaking of which..

Waidea VF owners, can you comment on what batteries you're using / which batteries fit OK?

We know that Sony VTCs are OK, and lenon said he was using the EFest 3100mahs that are re-wrapped Panasonics (I think)

Can anyone confirm if any other batteries are fine? Samsung 25Rs perhaps?

I was originally going to get Sony VTC4s (2100mah) on the basis that VTC 5s don't exist any more, and that I didn't think anything with a larger mah would fit. But now I know that at least some other batteries fit, maybe I'll branch out a bit.

I'm quite tempted by those efest 3100mahs to be honest. But it's always good to have options so would be great to know if any other high-mah batteries are known to fit OK.

.

I took my Sammy 25R out of my IPVmini and tested it. It fits well. I also learned that 1 battery will power the waidea/sunlay. So the batteries are wired together and then to the board, which is consistent with my knowledge of parallel wiring based on RC plane and heli experience. I've been using married efest 2500s usually, with a good fit as well.

Awesome, and thanks so much for taking the time to test that!

Oh, and here's a newbie question: the total battery capacity of a 2 x parallel battery mod is simply the two mahs added together, right (or, to be more precise - twice the capacity of the lowest mah battery, if they were different - which obviously shouldn't be done anyway.)

So if I put 2 x 2500 mah, I have a total battery life of 5000mah? Simple as that? Or is there any slight loss from going parallel?

Put another way, if I had 2 x 1250 mah batteries in parallel (if such a battery exists), would that give me exactly the same capacity as 1 x 2500mah?

Correct, you will double the capacity but the voltage will remain the same.

With the added benefit that the amp draw is split between the batteries. As usable battery capacity decreases with higher amp draw parallel LG he2s (as an example) should last longer than using each he2 at a time, at least theoretically.

This seems counterintuitive but it does seem to hold water out in the field. FWIW someone had mentioned Samsung INR 18650 25R batteries fit. I remember this because I use them.

ETA, I now see VoopingCrane already verified the Samsung INR 18650 25R batts fit.

That "preparing shipment" line is from the US Postal Service, their tracking goes live once it gets out of the Chinese sorting center.

And your airport research amuses me, LAL in Florida is about 6 miles from my front door. :)

I was happy when mine finally made it too Chicago, four days ago. And that is the last update. Should have been here by now.

yeah, i know what you mean. mine says "Your item has been processed through our sort facility in ISC CHICAGO IL (USPS) at 11:37 am on March 28, 2015." and thats the last update i have. you would have thought it would have made it to my door by now.

meant to say in uk, the tracking number should work for Royal Mail! My experience was that on the day it was delivered, it registered as being at LHR customs and it was updated as 'delivered' the day after delivery so all is a bit delayed!!

Ahh yes I see, just tried it and it shows this:

Royal Mail Tracking said:
Royal Mail Signed For™ items are only scanned when the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent 1st or 2nd class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later.

So they don't have proper tracking for the UK side of the delivery. I don't know if that's good or bad. It feels bad because I get obsessed about these things and sit there refreshing the tracking every 10 minutes. But maybe it's actually good.. because I get obsessed about these things and sit there refreshing the tracking every 10 minutes :)

I need to be more Zen about these things. When it has arrived it will have arrived, and we shall hear the sound of two batteries vaping.

Maybe that's your equivalent of "It's in customs", in which case it could sit at that stage for days or weeks. Or do you know that it cleared customs already?

I made the mistake of Googling this mysterious "GBLALA" code, which as TheOtherSteveS said is London's (or the UK's) customs clearing house, Langley. Naturally 99% of the references I see online are people saying "How long will it take to clear customs, I've waited three weeks already!"

Not good for my Zenness. I will remember that for Steve it took only three days, and cast all other experiences from my mind.

Ordered a silver Kangxin from focal last week. The shipping was taking its sweet time so I asked them to ship a black one instead. It was shipped out yesterday. Before cny I received my packages in less than a week, but I'm expecting three to four weeks now (sigh).

I'm really not fond of big devices though. Anything bigger than a ZNA or a Cloupor Mini won't fit comfortably in my pockets. Managed to convince myself that the flask will be ok anyway :)
