I wish I had buddies like that!

I was surprised as hell. They were the same folks who kept telling me vaping is still feeding an addiction and yadayadayada.

I just scored a black flask from vaperev last night. They had a gunmetal in stock too, but I completed the order in black before I noticed that.

Just as happy with black I guess lol. I didn't want to risk cancelling the order to reorder in gunmetal, only to have gunmetal sell out.

They are rushing the shipment because I am out of town all next week. Great customer service in that department, the overnight was $$$, but it is a xmas present to me.

Question for everyone, does the Flask come with a small length Ni200 for initial builds? I don't know if local vape shops are going to have any in stock, and I can't get any shipped fast enough for the trip.

Thanks!

Nice pictures Kiwi! Appreciate seeing it being held. Gives me a better sense of size. Enjoy!

So here are pics showing the size next to a Hana clone 30ml bottle, post-it note, and istick if that helps you at all. It might be bigger then the cloupor Cana but it feels so much better in the hand and I can go two days before needing to charge it.

Nope. Only comes in the box, a velvet drawstring pouch, charging cable and a card.

...guess it's a good thing I ordered up some Ni200. Unfortunate that they didn't include a small amount as I expect most people want to try the Temperature Protection right away.

Yeah, now I am going to have to track down a shop that sells it, either here or in Orlando.

I guess I could also have Amazon ship it to my hotel.

So.... Received my replacement from VF today. And guess what? My buddies came to town to visit me and bought me an identical flask. So now I have two. Good news is both had proper charging port holes, and both buttons are sticking out the same.

Kiwi,

You have my dander up again about the non uniform buttons. If your Buds (and very good ones at that) came up with a VF without the button problem and your replacement came without the button problem it sort of indicates that VF was just not paying attention and obviously the QC was seriously lacking.

Also there were several popular video reviewers that pointed out the VF button problem and yet VF did nothing about it.

I am very happy that your replacement is all you expected it to be. :) I was also wondering if you would rent out your Buddies. ;)

THATS THE THING.

So I've sold my excess flask and kept one. So I think I'm in a pretty good position to speak as a flask owner.

The workmanship and whole made in USA hype around the flask has been IMO more hype than substance. Look, I know a lot of people love it. I too love the way it looks and feels in hand. But the QC has been horrid.

When I first asked about the button, it was simply accepted as "it is supposed to be that way". It made absolutely no sense to me. The 2 latest flask I got had perfectly aligned buttons, so there is that. It made no sense in the first place that the buttons should be different.

Then the threading on the battery cap and diameter of the battery slots. I've owned a few clones, and even those have better threads. It's come to a point where I had to twist the cap on and off with a ton of force to force out the bad threads, clean off the scraped-off aluminium, and buff the surface with the green sponge In order to get it working fine. There is NO way to justify it. I mean I looked at all the 3 flasks I've owned, and the threads are horrendous: dirty, tons of burrs, super rough threading. Sure it can be "fixed", but still.

The battery slot diameter.... The one I'm using right now can barely even take a Sony vtc4. Getting the batteries out is a pain, and they get all scratched up by the burrs near the threads.

And lastly the charging port. I don't know why people are so accepting of the way it actually has lateral give when plugging it in. It makes NO sense design wise. Especially for something that folks will be using. Guarantee it'll be a point of failure in the future.

PLS see that I'm not bashing the device per se. I'm really trying to be objective about some of the flaws of the device.

Boy - Kiwi, you must be on your second Mocha Latte, that is more out front and verbose than I have seen you in some time.

I couldn't agree with you more on any of the VF points you mentioned. I spent last evening sanding my batteries so that they would slip in and out without tearing the plastic shrink covering. Polished the threads applied Noalox to the aluminum threads and worked it in good with the brass bat plugs.

I don't know if there is anything that "I can do" about the non level Up/Dn buttons, wobbly USB port and won't even try but it doesn't help my OCD very much. To put it in dollars and cents... $300 dollars to get less quality than expected and 300 dollars for Cymbalta to cope with the disappointment makes this one of my most expensive MODs to date.

Kiwi I don't think I have read anything you have said about the VF DNA40 that I would call "Bashing". As I said before when you posted the picture of the USB cutout the degree of composure you displayed was totally unbelievable calm and matter of fact. How you maintained that degree of composure is totally beyond my ability to comprehend.

Have a great day Mr. Kiwi,

Have a great day Mr. Kiwi,

Hahaha im very aware of potential backlash when something has a strong following :p

But yeah. Having held three flasks in my hands at this point, I find myself having sufficient actual experience to make a statement about it I guess.

I did spend close to 20 mins trying to get my batteries out last night, so that might have added to the frustration :p

Speaking of which you just reminded me: NOALOX!!! the flask IS made of aluminium! Hahahahahahah time to bring that bugger out. Thumbs up

Kiwi,
Thanks for posting your experience. I'm undecided about what I want to do about the VF I have now. I did notice that the battery port threads were a little grindy and as I've already posted I have the non-level buttons and the wobbly USB port. Overall I love the design and the quality is pretty good. That being said, for a $300 device I was expecting a little closer to Apple level attention to detail and industrial design.

I do have a question for the group. I've built three different ni200 coil builds for my VF thus far. Each time, after getting it set up, checking the resistance on the device wicking and vaping for a while, the resistance drops. Last night I built a 0.12 ohm dual coil build and it was working great. This morning I pick it up to vape and the it's reading 0.09 ohms so naturally I'm bouncing off the TP limit like crazy and it's not really working that great. I roll up my sleeves and build what reads as a 0.14 ohm dual coil this morning and again, it works great for a little bit, then as soon as I set it down and let it cool down, the resistance drops again, down to 0.09 ohm. Is there something wrong with my mod or with my build. For reference, the last build was 2x 16 wraps of 30AWG with about a 3mm ID. On steam-engine, that's about a 0.18 ohm build. I'm building on my Vulcan. Thoughts?

Actually I am surprised no one has mentioned Noalox so far. By the way just take some medium grad sandpaper or even Scoth-Bright green pads to the bats. You only need to take them done to the point that all the printing is gone (complete circumference of the bat) and that is enough diameter change to allow the bats to slip in and out like butter.

I had a lot of trouble getting them out prior to sanding them (suggested by someone else) and was very concerned that if the bats swelled up just a tad in would be a trip back to the factory to get them out. It is just amazing how a few thousandth of in inch can make such a marvelous improvement.

This is the part that bugs me the most. Someone in this thread said they were told it's for battery venting, but I just don't see how those two things correspond. The usb charge port is at the bottom of the flask where it's just solid aluminum, not up higher where there are slots in the battery holes and some sort of sleds.

I'm going to give the buffing of the threads a try when I get my flask back today to see if that helps with my HE2's not fitting since that seems to be the location that is causing the problems.

Yeah I think I'll do just that.

I still needa spend time polishing off the protruding burrs which are actually scraping my battery and stopping them from getting in. Then I'll work on my batts. Thanks for the tip though it's habdy
