It seems to adjust the battery meter based on how you're vaping.

For example my battery has been nearly full since Saturday while vaping kayfuns at 15 watts and the rose v2 at 20. Today I stopped by my favorite local vape shop(Midwest Vapor Lounge) to mess around with drippers and while vaping it at 40 watts with an omega after an hour or so the battery meter got down near half full. Now I'm back home with the rose on top again at 18 watts and it's back above 3/4 full on the battery meter.

yeah...I figured there was a "IQ feature"(batt gauge/level based on voltage in batt, ohm reading, watt setting/etc) but my batts are now at 3.55v and still showing full.
I'll continue to vape to see where it cuts off(hopefully not at 3.1v) or see where the battery gauge finally kicks in.

I think doing a hard reset will solve my problems...anyone know how to do this?

The guys from Vaporflask got back to me yesterday (sunday) and told me Evolv was working on a firrmware update that should fix the problems i was having (locking up, freezing screen). I was put on a list of people to contact and they told me I could keep using the device with kanthal, which im doing now.

Im sure it will all work out.

Interesting, I have been vaping primarily with kanthal with zero issues. The four tanks I did with a Kayfun and Ni200 wire were without issue so maybe I was lucky.

Looks like we all will be sending our VF in for some sprucing up.

Welp. If anyone ordered the VF from dixie's, you can call EM up for your tracking number :)

I'm actually quite surprised I did not receive my VF40 from Dixie's today. I ordered my first from them and it was here in two days. No shipping email but it was here. I ordered my 3rd from Vapin Art on Thur last week and received it this past Sat. Ordered my 4th from Dixie's on the same day. Have heard nothing from them as usual about shipping and it is still not here. Time to make a call in the am.

You're not going to get the warm vape you're used too with temp control. The temperature is the limiting factor. If it went to 100 watts the temp control would still give you a cooler vape. You have the choice of getting used to a cooler vape or going back to kanthal and not using temp control.

Agree. I am finally learning this. Wrapped a new coil today on one of my ErlKs. The first one wasn't very good (toughing micro). Kept getting crappy hits no matter what I did with wattage/temps. Second was a little better but still got some crappy hits (touching micro again). Did a third rebuild today (spaced 2.5mm id) coil and we are off. Finally!

For me, the 40 was a new learning experience. I was so used to Kanthal and touching micro coils that I gravitated towards that when building with the nickel wire. Jeremy tried to teach me about spaced coils in the rayon thread but I wouldn't listen.

Ok, so I thought, why not give that a try. Erlkonigin atty. 30g Ni200 wrapped 10? (quite honestly, I forget) spaced wraps around a 2.5mm mandrel. .29 ohms. Messed around with TC and W and ended up with 480F and 25w. Wicking wonderfully and getting great, full, lung hits.

Not as warm as I like but I am coming around. Lots more learning for me with the 40 but enjoying the ride thus far.

Why ni200 wire? Also why a larger diameter?

Nickel wire because the DNA40 will only use TC with it and Titanium that I know of. Kanthal reverts back to straight wattage vaping without TC.

Larger diameter because Nickel is very low resistance wire. Longer piece of wire (larger diameter) = more resistance. Same as any other wire.

Yeah.... It's my first purchase from them and I have to say it's not been a very good experience.

Ordered on Thursday at 1230pm. Was told it would ship on the day. Nothing heard.

Called Friday. Was told it would ship. Nothing heard. Then told it was told it would ship Saturday. Nothing heard. Had to call to find out about the delay.

Had to call today to find out it wi be shipped later in the day, and get a tracking number.

Strangest vendor experience so far. But hey, tracking says I'll get it on Wednesday so I can live with that.

Moel18, I am exactly the opposite, I was looking for a cool flavorful vape and finally hit my sweet spot. At first it was a little warm but have been using mostly tanks.

I built a .08 ohm cool on a 3mm mandrel and got a much warmer vape and started working my way up. Have you tried building lower?

You find what you are after you'll just have to use more of that Ni200 you picked up.

Good luck!

Thanks Marc. I'll try some lower builds.

The folks at Dixie's have been pretty good in working with me to line up a Vapor Flask. They've been open with me when I've talked to them and haven't tried to overpromise anything which I appreciate. I'm still waiting as they haven't gotten in any more gunmetal VFs, but I'm sure It'll all work out when they do get them in. I know everyone's experience is their own, but Dixie's has been way better than my local B&Ms.

Mine too...just called today for tracking number. Does anyone know if the shipments from Dixie's requires signature? They were not sure.

So what's the word on suitable batteries for this thing? I have several Sony 30amp batteries, but they're all used, and I kinda wanted to go with a pair of new batteries, but obviously Sonys are currently out of the question.:) (see what I did there)

Per dna data sheet the 40 chip pulls 16 amps nominal and 23 amps peak... So any single battery over 16 amps continuous could be used doubled up in a vapor flask.. If your running single battery in the vapor flask, any battery over 23 amps should be fine just to be safe

Yeah, that's why I was rather surprised as my first order with them went so well. Perhaps they are just overwhelmed atm. I have no doubts it'll show up soon just not as quick as the first time that I ordered from them.

I recently purchased some LG HE2's for mine.

Mine didn't the first time I received it. That was with USPS. Not sure about signature if they shipped through any other carrier though.
