I have a feeling the rDNA 40's will be delayed... when I first ordered i'm almost positive pre-orders would ship on November 7th but, now it doesn't state that anymore. chip recall maybe? anyhow i'm sure it'll be worth the wait and be here before xmas :) *fingers crossed*

I always wait on these things. Until everyone starts reporting their orders arriving within a week of order and nobody is complaining - thats the time to buy. This is too early. Just fine with my rDNA30 for now.

I just about ordered a rDNA 30 but, I figured for $20 more I would get a 40 watt. i'm hoping it will be worth the wait!

Haha. My quest to find a dna40 continues to mock me.

Apparently evolv is doing a recall on the dna40 chips, and my flask is gonna be delay for another week.
WAIT. Why does that sound familiar.

Face palm. 2 out of 2. I'm not doing so swell

Respectfully, where can I find this "recall" statement from Evolv with the URL which supports this? If a vendor of any name said this I would like to read it somewhere with a URL?

As you have no doubt assumed I don't believe it but I could be wrong. I due have the ability to speak to Evolv any time I wish but I'm not going to do it until I see the clearly written words with my own eyes.

It's vapor flasks doing a retail level recall not an end user level recall... From what I gather

and i'm betting that's because they where the first and had the first DNA 40's? pretty sure I read evolve has worked the bugs out in newer versions?

Correction: the recall is done by vaporflask specifically. Apparently they got a pretty big batch of bad chips: the chip would freeze when you try to fire it up. And it's apparently not just a small portion too; seemed like a sizeable proportion of the chips they have.

I do wanna say that I got this info from the vendor I got the flask from though. They said that VF will be recalling all units to physically test every single one before shipping them out to all vendors.

Kinda makes me worried. I've seen several posts about how evolv is already on the 3rd revision of the dna chip due to various issues. I would NOT be surprised if all rDNA chips are still revision 1s. No clue though

OK I found your other post. Respectfully, I think we need to be very careful on our choice of words. A "recall" is generally NOT synonymous with a bad batch of boards to a SINGLE vendor. That's apples and oranges so a "bad batch of boards to vaporflask resulted in their recall" would be a more accurate description. And yes, I can believe this may have happened with vaporflask or it could be a convenient excuse. A letter from Evolv on their letterhead and signed by an officer which details this would end my inherent skepticism. I kinda jumped the gun when I read your first post so please excuse me. I'm sure you can understand since I'm "older" /lol

I sent an email to VF...we will see what they say re: recalled devices....meanwhile it is not confirmed. From what I was told by the re-seller on the phone...it sounded like the known issue which is fixed by a silicone blob....they did not confirm that, however. So we will see what VF has to say.

Either way....if the information that the re-seller said was true, you would absolutely know that you have the problem because the display would freeze up on you. I have not seen this on my XPV. If you have had a problem and have a device in your hands you have no doubt already contacted your vendor.

So, this is nothing to worry about or waste conjecture on, IMO.

It will simply delay things for VF buyers who ordered from that particular re-seller.

Edit to remove VS buyers and substitute VF...

Read post #2600, from zero. What's being quoted in there is a fb post to a group from the modder who makes the BAP. In there it outlines the 3 issues that have been discovered so far. The issues appear to exhibit in a small number of chips. You could get a V1 or V2 and not see or have the problem.

Oh I thought I had posted a follow up for more clarity. Apologies for the confusing, and it definitely wasn't my intention to raise any eyebrows or anything. Whoops!

That normally doesn't happen until the day before Evolv announces the release of a new chip. :( I do preorders when I'm able and assume there will be shipping delays with any new product. I've not much patience for chasing down in-stock inventory or playing F5 games.

What VS reseller? I've seen no evidence that any Vapor Shark reseller has been supplied with rDNA40s yet.

Agreed the first problem "the blob" is an easy fix for the PV manufacturers. For the 2 "possible" other issues, I'm sure evolv is all over it. I'll get my rDNA when I get it.
Also, the #2 and #3 issues seem to only be affecting a very small number of boards and are recognizable immediately. Link to post #68 from ZeroOhm listing the DNA40 issues on the My thoughts and issues with the DNA40 thread.
