I have a copy of the original data sheet fro Evolv and its the same as the one on their site now. AFAIK it has always said .1 min/.4 typical.

Maybe Busardo is having too much eggnog???

Looks like they did bump their typical ohms to .4 That would be hard to get to. Wonder if these guys actually build their own coils? For me to get to .4 would require a lot of wraps with 32ga and probably would need to wrap it directly around the rayon. Forget about .4 on a dual build. They recommend up to a 1.0 build. How could you even hit that? It would have been better if they lowered the target to .1 Then you could use 26-28ga for easier builds, and get duals with 30ga. Seems like all it would take is a software fix. Maybe the TP doesn't play as nice with lower gauges. It would be interesting to hear from them how they hit the typical .4 target.

After about an hour and a half it went haywire: voltage mode...hold the fire button, back to TP...rinse, repeat...checked the 510, no love...back and forth V to F.
I had a problem Lemo doing the TP to V dance.
Thought it was a 510 issue.
Finally, disassembled everything and soaked the parts in alcohol.
I think it was some oil in the positive block threads.
Has been working great since the thorough cleaning.

Funny. I have looper in one of my lemo too. Heehee

The lemo's been my single most consistent performer so far.

My best, most consistent performer has been my orchid with 15 wrap dual coils around a 2.4mm mandrel ... Measures 0.09 ohm, 410 degrees with 20-24watts

Rock steady and has been the same coil for 4 weeks! Just change cotton weekly

A couple of days ago, after 21 days and 80 ml my perfectly performing main vapin' Russian 91% fell back to voltage mode occasionally.

Open it up and this is what I found. The rayon wick was still completely white except for a few loose specks of coil gunk.
The coil was not bad, less then 20% gunked, maybe 15%.
The coil was slightly arched and there may have been minor contact, I couldn't say for certain.
I was able to tighten the coil terminals 1/2 turn each. They were tight 21 days ago.

Groomed the coil, dry burnt, re-wicked and it is functioning perfectly again for two days now.
Juice was an RY4, I'm very pleased with the run but disappointing that I can not say what exactly caused the resistance to vacillate.
The screws were pretty tight already, was it the screw contact, the gunk or both. FWIW I believe the gunk caused the coil to deform.

    Gunk, I be watchin you!

I can confirm that. (That the typical resistance with temp sensing wire was .4Ω on previous data sheets, not that Busardo had too much eggnog.) Two separate downloads of the Evolv datasheet still in my download folder, one from Oct 24 and the other Nov 9.

Dammit Kiwi, your gonna end up making me buy a Lemo. ;)

sent using an alien .... probe

I've been really close to pulling the trigger on a lemo a couple of times and Kiwi isn't helping any, I'm more interested in the K4 but 180 is too steep for me and I doubt there will be a good clone for a while. At least I've ruled out the erlk for now, too many mixed reviews.

when you re-wick are you dry burning the coil? do you up the temp and dry burn? or move it out of temp mod and burn? i was under the impression the nickel coils did not like to be dry burnt?

Yes I'm dry burning both in temperature limiting at 600F and out at > red hot temps.
I don't see any problem dry burning coils. Ni200 is not code for use in pressure vessels that operate at greater than 600F I believe this is where the idea comes from.
