My shark is acting really werid. The first couple weeks the resistance only varied +/- 0.01 - 0.02, now on the last three spaced builds its gone from 0.12 to 0.17 down to 0.09. The temp protection is off now too. It had been working fine at 450 and now it burns cotton at 370. I think it has to do with the board reading the wrong resistance. I'm pretty sure my build is 0.12 but it reads 0.15. The device should supply more voltage to a 0.15 to reach 40 watts than to a 0.12 build. So i'm thinking its throwing extra voltage on a build that doesnt require it causing the actual temp to be higher than the calculated temp.

Anyone else having/had this problem? any solutions? I should prolly go ahead and send it in for repair, my screens glitching anyway but I was holding out until I knew VaporShark would be able to fix it/send me one with the newer board.

The PS actually got it to me a day early, unfortunately it looks like I got a refurbished unit. Right out of the box it already has a few small chips in the finish, the button is showing wear, and the clincher: it has juice on the center pin! None of the issues are major but I don't like ordering a new item and getting a refurb, now I'm not sure if I should play around with it or try to send it back.

Well I dunno what happened, my first build was working nice, no real problems, and then the resistance dropped super low to 0.04 or 0.05, and now it won't go back up. I ripped the build out, and rebuilt it twice, thinking I had some short or connection problem. Getting frustrated and needing something to vape on, I built a couple kanthal builds and took it off TP mode, so I'd have choices for work tonight, and now even they are reading super low ohms, which makes no sense, cause my ohm checker says they are all where they should be, and they run on my mechs as they should. I dunno what the deal is, I'm hoping I don't have a short on my board somewhere... Waited one and a half months for it, I'd hate to send it back immediately after receiving it. Has anyone else had similar problems?

i'm having resistance reading problems too brother. Are you using any kinda protective ring under your atty? Like a screen protector? I just took mine off and it jumped from 0.15 to 0.11, where i think it should be. Might not have been making a solid connection.

well this is odd, my dna40 has been connected to my computer USB for the past 9 hours, yet i come home and check it and it is only half charged ?

Be careful of computer (especially laptop) USB ports. Many don't put out very much current unless they recognize the device (phone, hard drive, etc). Try a sub wall plug and see if it goes better!

Does your PC shut off your USB ports or reduce power when it goes to sleep? I would check in power management settings and/or your bios.

While I really like the 510 on the VS, I do notice that the spring loaded center pin is a little on the short side. Some of my attys need to be snugged down all the way for them to make a good connection.

Also I've found that my ohm reader seems to be much less sensitive than my VS. Builds that are good on the ohm meter don't always read correctly on the VS. (But I will detect a short which is the main point). Make sure connections are tight all the way from the 510 (and center pin) through the coil. I've found a couple issues with my Lemo where I wasn't quite getting a really good connection. Again, these all read fine on the ohm meter.

The one thing I'd like to see is a slightly longer center pin (or longer spring travel) on the VaporShark.

So I come home today and find my rDNA 40 at my door. Check the package and there's a completely different tracking number than the one VS sent me last Friday. Check the tracking number and it shows it was delivered on Monday (to where, exactly, is still a mystery). Why does VS keep sending out bad tracking numbers? Why couldn't they have notified me when it happened? Why couldn't VS have told me when I called? If I had a proper tracking number, this would have been resolved days ago. I also really hope it wasn't outside somewhere during the super cold weather we've had recently as that can screw with electronics and glue.

I'm happy it's here, but still super annoyed at the lack of communication. I also would much prefer packages like this be left in my mailbox and not at my door (unless it was delivered to a neighbor) where people here will steel it.

Overall, I prefer not to charge anything through a computer USB port. Too fussy and generally not capable of putting out enough current to charge things quickly.

A simple wall plug to USB adapter is usually cheap and they come with so many toys (phones, etc) that almost everyone has one lying around.

At least you have it! Enjoy it!!

just got my RDNA-40 and I'm on the fence about it??? i have been using a ZNA 30 and really like it but the battery is to small and DO NOT like the 510 connector in it. like all the specs of the rdna and with all the talk about it thought i would give it a try.

i am a little confused? if you put a atty with Kanthal do you have to switch out of temp mode? i think i read that you don't and that the chip will see it is a kanthal build and switch out of temp mod? Also the ohm reading will not stay showing after a vape? it only displays the ohm reading for a few seconds?

i also tried a nautilus with the temp coils. works ok but i think it is lacking flavor? i will keep at it and see how it goes?

well I charge my solara DNA30 from USB port, and it takes 1-2 hours to go from dead battery to fully charged. Im using the same cord/port to charge my vaporshark.

From what I've read it will automatically kick it out of TP mode if you attach an atty with kanthal.

well it looks like the issue i been having with my usb charging is just a display bug/issue. The battery level indicator just got stuck at half level for a long time, but when i reconnected it to the usb it just changed the charging light from red to green instantly. It showed full battery charge when i put an atomizer ontop and fired it.

Fly- first, congrats on your VS! I've got one and waiting on my second.

I think you will learn to enjoy it like many of those that have the device are. Notice I said "learn." I'm not sure but I wonder about the expectations those that ordered the VS on the sale have with it ( kind of a convoluted sentence but I think you get the idea)

The DNA 40 operates under some different rules, ones that require you to change your ideas about how things should work and learn how things will work!

Biggest thing is to temper your expectations, it's going to be some trial and error to find out how this thing fits how you vape. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and run about 30 nickel builds thru a handful of attys and I'm just now finding what works best for me.

The rDNA-40 was my first regulated mod so perhaps I came in with less expectations about how stuff should work. With that said, it really did take me since early December with this thing to begin to find what works the best for me.

I now have good kanthal builds for my kayfun and Russian and within the last week settled on a really good nickel build for my Lemo drop.

Patience and experimentation are key to this thing, but once you get it dialed it it's been a really good product!

Yes, I would hate for anyone to get horribly frustrated with this device with the first few days of use. It's new, it's gonna take a little time to dial it in!!

Even if the nickel builds are a pain I figure it's a quality 40w device with good power regulation.

I'm still not thrilled with the nicks in the finish but I think I'm going to keep it, after the long wait I don't want to deal with the hassles and then wait for a replacement.
