ok wierd again. I just pulled the battery AGAIN. Now its working??? what the heck is going on with this thing. Now @ 410F I can vape to my hearts content. LOL im scared to take out the battery or change my dripper.

edit: okay yeah took out the battery, andddd now back to square one. Im highly disappointed with this device. I've already read all the dna40 threads prior to buying this so I am not blind building this. I know what to do and have watched all the tutorials. Probably going to return this.

I hope you hold on to it and try some other things on it before you decide to return it.

I would love to try and help you figure out what the problem is so I'm with KTM, let's start with the basics:

What attys are you putting builds in?

On your attempted builds: ga., dia., wraps and target ohm.

The only thing I can get a good, consistant nickel build on so far has been the Lemo. I've tried the erlkonigan every way to Sunday and on several occasions wanted to stomp a mud hole in it!

Bottom line: IMHO not all attys play well with nickel! Don't get too discouraged, I hope it's not the device and it's something that can be fixed with a little help from the people that have had a little success with the VS!

I think from the 5 items they have on the side of the box I should be able to set it up before I put my Lemo on. I'm going to start at 390 15-20 watts. Then do I unlock it and is that where it will ask you if this is a new atty or the same.

Don't be alarmed, it doesn't always ask if the atty is new!

I've built spaced coils on KFL+ and v4 clones and they work perfectly. I don't make contact coils with ni200 because even if you think all the coils are touching, 1 may not and it will give you headaches.

From what Illitirit posted, it sounds like the device is working as intended and there's an issue with the coil and/or atomizer.

OK I read the spec sheet and that was pretty informative. Now if I have this right, I can set the temp limit and the watts then put the atty on and hit the fire button once and it will ask you if this is a new atty. If it is you push yes. Then let it set for a few then try vaping. does that sound about right.

As long as your build and the rDNA are at the same temperature, there is no real need to wait. Your coil and the DNA board need to be at the same temperature when you first attach your atty for the temperature protection to function properly.

You are over thinking it a bit! Chuck your atty on and vape away! If it's a good build you should be getting a good vape flavor wise and vapor wise! Check your readings, if the ohms are jumping around, chances are you have a loose connection somewhere.

My first coil will be a twisted 32awg wire 8wraps spaced 3mm ID using the screws to attach not the holes. Should be around .2ohms I use 50/50 juice so I was going to try 390 first temp and wattage I'm not sure of but I'm thinking 15w or maybe 20w what do you think on that.

Good start! If it's good @ 15w, work your way up, shouldn't be a problem. If you hit TP, if you are using cotton, I think you are good to *410 so you can always bump that up a bit!

One other thing after my build is on the Lemo. It is attached wicked wetted down first part of the chimney on then I can fire it and see if it is producing vapor correct just like I do with a normal build if it is then button it up fill the tank and reattach the Lemo, push same atty and vape away correct. Do you think 390 is a good starting point with 50/50 juice I remember RIP said that was pretty good starting point. Unsure of the wattage. .2ohm coil15-18w should be suffiecient correct?

Nothing personal, I am not with KTMRIDER? As I said, or intimated, in the DNA 40 Thread, I want (and will soon have) the flexibility of spaced or contact coils. I expect Tempered Ni200, soon to be received, will assure that flexibility (with no 'muss or fuss').

i can vouch for the Lemo and Kayfun 4 being rock-solid with Ni200 builds.

Jazz, I have not yet tried contact coils but have experimented enough with spaced coils to get my builds to function correctly with my Lemo's. With my erlk, my same nickel builds have truly sucked, I mean badly! I've tried three different twisted builds, with different dia. and wraps as well as single coils with 3 different ga and dia. and wraps. With kanthal, it's wonderful.

I have had ups and downs with my nickel builds in all 3 of my Lemo's but when it's right it's beautiful. My biggest challenge is to be consistent!

I just think there are some people that think it's just going to be all peaches and cream with any atty and any build. Sorry, it's not! A few more things come into play and you have to pay a little more attention to detail.

If you want plug and play, this thing ain't it!!

Jazz, I've read enough of your posts to know it's not personal! I think we are on the same page, just looking at it from a different angle. I want it to be more simple and maybe it will get there. But right now, you have to have the mentality of "slow and steady wins the race."

I just think too many people are not putting in enough time to really figure this thing out. Not the people here that have been really asking questions and sharing successes and failures both.

Worst case scenario, grab a nautilus with the TSC and vape them at the recommended W and see if you have any problems. Not to say you couldn't get a bad coil but it may be a good starting point for those that are looking to get a feel for what to look for with a nickel build! Maybe???

Complete agree. This technology is still in its infancy. For me, the Lemo had been the best nickel platform. But my Lemo has connection issues... I've also had great nickel builds on an authentic Kayfun.

I plan to expirament with nickel on my Kayfun 4 clone and Erlk clone this weekend. We'll see how it goes! I expect issues to start with!

My Lemo had intermittent connection issues until I did the grommet trick which pushes the center pin out a lil more & keeps the airflow where I set it at instead of spinning when I remove the tank for refilling.

I didn't save the picks someone posted here of the fix.
