I have passed on the sx mini and will continue to do so.

For me the shark is smaller, lighter, easier to charge, and way simpler to operate.

I have three - 30, 40 small screen, and 40 large screen. They all worked great from day one and continue to do so.

I bought a Hana limited edition just for variety and am expecting a provari titanium as a present this week. But when I'm going out and need to depend on it, it's always a shark I take with me.

The easy to use is a great point. I saw Twisted 420's review of the original SX Mini and he had a rough go with it. The SX menus just seem like a pain to me. Plus no protective sleeve lol. One thing that annoyed me in watching reviews about the SX was the board showed Power&&Joules. Why the need to have the And symbol twice Yihi. The improper English or Chinese annoys me

Absolutely loving my SX Mini M.

Feels great in your hand, amazingly well built, upgradable, temp control... check out the youtube reviews...

I was just watching Busardos review. He mentions that in temp mode the SX goes to pulse width modulation with that rattle snake sound. He mentions that some people notice the PWM and or a difference in taste. Have you noticed it yourself between the SX and the DNA 40 ?

I don't have the DNA 40, so I can't compare the two.

I also have only used temp control in a limited way, so far. I have built a coil with NI200 wire and a .11 build, on a Squape R, which I've used with temp control. However, I set my watts to around 25, 26 watts, and didn't hear the rattle snake sound. I believe it's more prevalent when vapping at higher watts.

I ordered some pre-built Kanger NI200 OCC coils, that should arrive this week. I plan to give those a try.

While I love my Squape R, it's too tight of a draw, compared to what I've gotten used to using a Sub Tank. That's why I haven't really used the NI200 coil that I build for the Squape R, and have only done limited vapping with temp control.

Does anyone have the new board with the atty lock? If so does it solve the problem of hitting TP constantly on all builds also with the prebuilt heads. Thats the problem I have with the rDNA40 and have since the beginning. Only way I can get around it is turn the temp up to 475 or more. That's why I don't use the TC feature anymore. Just wondering if this upgrade fixed that.

The rDNA40 I had RMA'd has the new atty lock, but I have never used it. If you need the atty lock then there is probably something wrong with your build. I don't really understand why they implemented it, seems to me it only serves to mask build issues, thus not giving you the vape you think you are getting.

I have been using the Holmes RDA I picked up a couple weeks ago and with the temp set to 450F I never hit TP. Build is a 26g 14 wrap 2.5ID spaced .14Ω.

I have seen some Rdna40 large screens with a white dated label on the black battery sled. Other have just the sled with the embossed letters 18650. Any comment?

My rDNA has the large screen and a white sticker inside the battery compartment with the date on it.

Is that what you are asking?

Mine is dated 03-07-15 but it's on it's way back to VS due to screen glitch. I was told by VS that anything with a date prior to mid March may have the screen glitch issue..

Exactly. Even pre-built coils can have issues.

My rDNA small screen has a white sticker with a date, 11/12/14 (Nov 12, 2014). No issues at all.

It can also help when an atty is giving inconsistent readings or the problems that can be caused by the board warming up when charging(especially with wireless charging). It's a hackish workaround but there's a few situations it can help with.

I'm just guessing here but would the atty lock help with significant temperature changes. For example a warm house to it being cold outside, or the other way around. Like say a very cool air conditioned house/car then outside into a hot day. Would the lock help keep your vape quality stable during temp changes like that ?

Hey guys. I was searching the web for information on the VS rDNA40 and ended up here. I don't have the time to read thru 370 something pages so I wanted to ask. the bottom line... Is this thing worth buying?

I'm am not an advanced user by any means but I recently purchased the Kangertech Sub-tank mini and started building on the RTA. I thought about paying a little less and getting the DNA but not being able to change the battery and short run time turned me toward the rDNA. i like the smallish size too. I'm not sure if I will ever wrap nickel but if they ever figure that all out it might be a nice to have the temperature sensing stuff too.

Thanks,
GutWrench

Not really, unless you are connecting an atty to a mod that have been in two different environments, but given that scenario, the atty lock wouldn't help anyway because the board will take a new reading. If the mod and atty have remained connected during the temp swings, then the board knows what the base resistance should be.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to use it, they would be better served to understand the reasons they think they need it.

The fact that there are 374 pages should give you your answer :)

I own 3 VaporSharks myself -- a DNA 30, rDNA30, and an rDNA40. I love them all, although have to admit the little 30 is my favorite when traveling. You cannot go wrong with a VS. IMO, it is the "Apple" of Box Mods - in the sense of its simplicity of use. Yihi might be more powerful in terms of capabilities, but I find the options a bit daunting and like to just vape :). So, highly recommend it.

I have first Rdna 40 for about a week. I have many other mods. It has not been out of hand since arrival. The evolv chip is superb. The construction is excellent. Very ergonomic design. I highly recommend it.
