eVolve is the likely culprit regarding product supply. eVolve has had problems keeping up with demand for a while now. If VS didn't order enough boards to fulfill their orders, then they would have a hard time getting more right away from eVolve. For those of us that are lucky enough to have ours, if you open up the electronics cover you'll see how tight everything goes together. My point is that once they are assembled it wouldn't be all that easy to remove the boards and put them into a black case, even if they had them. For this new product release and SharkWeek they ordered X number of DNA30 boards and then had Y number of black and gunmetal shells made and then assembled them. If black sold out then they may not have enough shells or boards to build more. But could still have gunmetal left to be sold. Obviously this could have happened differently and still caused the problem. I have also heard that customers agree that they won't blame eVolve to their customers for lack of supply. Even if they don't have enough boards.

Now to your problem Newport. If all of the orders for black ones have the shipping slips printed along with their order forms, waiting for finished product. Now they are not kept in the time ordered because they thought they will just fill them all, but didn't have enough product. Some would get theirs while others that had ordered sooner didn't. Now they have gunmetal but no black. How do they explain this to the customers. It gets complicated, and hard to explain to customers waiting.

Didn't mean for this post to be this long... LOL

Yes, it was long...unfortunately mine was too.

I feel like I am responding to a ghost writer from Florida.:)

Having an agreement to not blame evolv for a shortage of chips makes sense. Hindsight is 20/20. I bet Vapor Shark orders a larger magnitude of chips the next time. Especially knowing they had a new device launch combined with a sharkweek sale.

I had heard they had an expectation of receiving a different number in a shipment than what they received which didn't help.
In regards to shipping paperwork not in a first in first out order. In today's modern age I would hope something would be learned by that. I think they already have their computers generate the shipping labels. With proper software generating the shipping order and shipping lists this should be avoidable. A simple word document with someone doing the input for minimum wage. In fact multiple folders with different levels of access on a server and more than one person could do input at the same time. I am the first to understand we don't live in a perfect world. I have lived a quite interesting life running everything from multimillion dollar sports bars with restaurants and events to running medical depts. for treatment centers in Newport Beach. Most places were a train wreck when I started, and ran like clockwork within a short period of time.

Everything is fixable.
I know from conversations I have had with some of the employees at Vaporshark. I would enjoy them in person. Wish the business was out here instead of Florida. I would help them fix this stuff for fun and for free. I like working 18 hour days with something to organize.

In closing, I really do hope they straighten everything out. There is no reason to not improve their PR image.

Totally agree with this.

Interesting,I thought a 500mah phone charger was o.k. and 800mah like an ipad charger was max. Someone else I am sure can give a better answer, but 1000 mah charging may be over the design.
USB chargers provide voltage (5V). The devices plugged into them draw current. It's fine to plug a USB device that draws 500 or 800 mA into a charger capable of supplying more (like 2 amps). The device will simply draw what it needs/wants. Think of it like putting a 40 watt light bulb into a fixture that's rated at 100 watts.

Thanks, great description. Makes me a lot less worried about charger choices knowing the device draw is the limiting factor.

Sorry about your troubles (especially the color switcheroo)

Not quite accurate. Most wall chargers have a maximum amperage rating and will clamp the amps to .5 or 1 amp in the most case of cellphone chargers were all familiar with. If not they would combust if a device attached were a dead short... LOL

Thanks for your thoughts. Yes, this is taking longer than expected. I am sure things will eventually work out.
I ordered a Erlkonigin tank from intaste.de in Germany after I ordered my RDNA. Their standard shipping was Fedex it was just under $20 US. I had it it two days. It was amazing. At least your package has been shipped. That would be really frustrating though. Seriously, nine days since it was picked up and still in Miami that is ridiculous. That has to be really aggravating. USPS sent a package of mine all the way to the wrong end of my state and back. It took over a week for something that should have been two days at most. Most of the time they do a good job. The only plus is USPS updates are notoriously inputed behind what is actually happening. So,hopefully your package is almost there. Fingers crossed you get yours soon!

I suggested a friend of mine get a VS to help quit smoking. He ordered the smaller VSDNA in gunmetal and received it in 2 days (8/29) with UPS shipping. I talked him through filling and installing a nautilus mini he ordered from a different supplier and he's vaping away. Lets hope it works and he is able to quit those nasty analogs.

I ordered mine the Thursday before the Skark Week deal. I believe it was first non-beta batch. The website at the time would only let you choose gunmetal, and said that all orders would ship by 8-8 (was late on the 7th when I ordered). I got my shipping notice the next morning and had it delivered on Tuesday the following week via free USPS shipping.

I was disappointed at first that I missed the sale, but after watching the cluster-..... this next official batch has been from a shipping standpoint, I'm glad I got in when I did. Those of you still waiting won't be disappointed once you get it, but it does have to suck waiting not only this long, but with the uncertainty and buffoonery. It really is a great, elegant but rugged device. The only issue I've had was when I knocked it off my desk. When I picked it up, it had no power, and I found that the battery's inertia collapsed one of the contacts. Bent that back out and it's ran like it never even happened.

I'm sure it's probably been posited somewhere in this thread, but I think most of the issue is that VS grossly underestimated the response this thing would have. Their marketing department likely projected off of perceived sales of the Hana, and previous sales of the original VS - a device that no doubt generated some serious interest but likely never busted the block because of concerns of the built-in battery. I think they knew that the rDNA would hit a sweet-spot in the market, but did not realize exactly how on-target it would be.

The design is arguably more elegant than the Hana, certainly carriers a perception of better durability, and maintained as much of the size advantage of the VS DNA that it could. Too, its price-point was brilliant. At $60 less than the Hana, its size and durability advantage made it a no-brainer, and at only $90 more than (B&M) Cana prices, it made up-buying to an authentic DNA box justifiable.

They'll right the ship. They just got caught with their pants down. Fortunately for them, though, the ladies liked what they saw.

You're right. It's moving. But not very far...:)

It's not as if I've nothing on hand to vape but this will be my first non-mech mod and I've heard so much about the DNA board. I'm just impatient to see what it's all about...

You will really enjoy it. I love my VV/VW devices.

Of course they have over-current protection! But that's not what the question was. The question was whether it's safe to plug a device that will pull a maximum of 800 mA into a charger that's capable of delivering MORE current than that, for example 1 amp or 2 amps.
