That is exactly what the buttons are. They are cheap and the plating is coming off. How else would you describe this?

The fire button is plastic but I think the plus/minus buttons are metal. And nothing is coming off of them that I have seen reported. Look if you don't care for the device or company that makes it, thats your prerogative and you have made it known.

Not sure I would call it mid priced point. For most buyers they are buying it to be one of their better devices. It is $10 more than the current Provari that is built like a tank. Sure it is cheaper than a Mark Bugs Wizard, but that is a very specialized limited run device.

Mid priced when compared to many devices out there at $300 or more. Provari is cheaper now to make way for the P3 but used to be close to $300 to get the complete unit with extended end cap, to make it 18650 replaceable like the rDNA. ZNA, Hana and many others are more money.

Yeah, when compared to other DNA 30s with a replaceable battery, you'd be about right with that statement which is why I did not hesitate to buy this.

The guy asked if he needs to know anything before purchasing. I told him what to watch out for. Of course it's coming off, that's why i made it known to him.

Wow sorry to hear that it took so long. Glad you got yours back. I am bummed being back in this. Fingers crossed it works out well.

Newport, Newport, Newport.... I don't know what to say:facepalm: I'm so sorry sir. I really can't believe you're dealing with issues again  At least you got to communicate with a pleasant person rather than talking to a machine. :) Hope all goes smoothly!!

Hmm, I own a VaporShark DNA 30 and have been pretty satisfied with it, so far. I have been thinking about grabbing an rDNA as a backup, but lately all of these quality control issues have had me rather worried about the purchase. The price just went up by $10.00 for the rDNA, I wonder if the quality control is being stepped up or something that was wrong is being fixed, which is causing the increase in cost.

Overall what problems have been most common with this device?

From memory...

Crooked 510, fire button getting jammed, plating wearing off the buttons, chipped paint and dead screen. That's all I can remember right now.

madcaps, all of us! :vapor:

my lil VS rDNA, Ive been very lucky with it, no QC issues, shipped perfectly, etc. Just the same, I knows that luck, not anything else. I can give my highest recommendation; that being said, Newport is a friend, and his experience has been absolute ....e...

hell, I have a Benz C250. been perfect too. but I have friends that have absolute lemons with Benz's. and that's a $50K + car.. not a $180 toy. I sometimes like to imagine its karma, and I live so well.. *whistles in the dark* that I have an abundance of goodness.... LOL then I snap out of it, and realize.. no.. Im just lucky!

The rDNA is made from the same materials as your DNA 30. Very few people have had device issues. Beware delivery is slow, 7 to 10 days being typical.

If you read the whole thread you will see that the vast majority are very happy with their purchase.

Thanks for the response. I scrolled back pretty far and saw some issues, so wanted to be clear. For the cost, I could buy a Provari or Hana Modz, so I am watching the defect and service issues very closely at this point. If it was a good deal cheaper then their two major competitors, then a few minor issues wouldn't be as much of a problem.

Does anyone have any good images of the whole device in the new matte black color?

LOL. You read minds! HA! Me to! Different model but same principal. :)

Seriously, A "perfect" mod does not and never will exist. They all have pluses and minuses. I own two box mods, A REO Mini and the rDNA. I like them both for different reasons. Zero issues. As a matter of fact, I like them both BETTER than my gaggle of ProVaries (I own 3) for different uses. I suggest "reasonable expectations" which should be tempered by the fact that none of us are privy to the total number of rDNAs which have been sold and the percent of same that quickly break or go nutso. My heart bleeds when I see folks in this thread with issues. IMHO, although this might not be a valid comparison in the view of some which I understand and respect, I've seen more hardware/rDNA issues in this thread than the ProVari threads. Of course, I'm beginning to develop a serious love affair with Box Mods as opposed to carrying around a friggin baseball bat. Obviously, we also have a price differential with the P3.

I hope I have helped in some way and look forward to the inevitable "ProVoNati" roasting BUT I would say and have said the exact same thing if I so desired in their "Cult Threads"

:)

Do you have an image of the back of the device? I wanted to check it out. None of my local vape shops have this device. Thanks.

thats the same black as mine, before they modified it to matte black. I dont know if it will actually change, or they just clarified that the black they sell on the rdna is a satin black, not a gloss black. Either way, i like it =)

And while I do agree that most of the devices are problem free, there are a number of issues that CAN be fixed via vaporshark. And honestly, i've never owned a product where most of them were duds. That would be unthinkable. I mean if a new tv had a 50% failure rate, they wouldnt be in business by the end of the month, no matter how good their product or customer service is
