Accompanied the old man to golf today against my better judgment.

Golfing at 32F with winds is a TERRIBLE idea. Especially when the old man takes an eternity to line up his shots.

And yeah. VF has been a dream turned into a nightmare. First unit was a piece of crap physically and in the chip.

Had to pay to send it back. Nth heard out for days. Didn't reply emails or FB messages for days. Reply, and then disappear again.

New mod arrive, machining was still awful (think of the fasttech clone with the worst threads, and think of it 10 times worse). But thankfully the chip was good

My bro-in-law used to play year-round. I played a round with him one thanksgiving morning once. Once. It was about 40°F and the ground was rock hard. The upside was my drives were like 400yds  Now I only play a few times a year but it's more like drinking and chasing a little white ball around for a few hours.

Sorry to hear about your VF troubles. I thought they took care of you.

This will be the only warning to those earlier who were participating in the pissing contest about this device being "junk" or not:

Stop.

xcrazydx - you don't get to air your dirty laundry like that on here and bash a supplier because you may have beef with them. If you have a negative review, we have a forum for that.

Any further baiting, inciting, or trolling will result in formal Rule Reminders or Infractions.

When I mention my search, above, I did a Google of "hard short Russian 91". The entire ECF thread http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ian-91-v2-irratic-resistance-readings-31.html is informative and useful, but pages 31 and 32 lead to what is, now, the final solution.

I had already done the FatDaddy positive pin fix 'cause I had (earlier) arc'd either the pin/post or ruined the insulator.

Bon voyage...

Thanks so much jazzvaper! Interesting thread.
My Russian is a V2 with the solid 510 connector not the spring loaded.

I have to check my attys further and see if I can isolate the problem, I have fatdaddy filed away as a possible solution. :)

Mine is also the V2 (both of them).

I already knew about cranking the 510 in TIGHT while securely holding the postive block, 'cause I "fixed it" once before. To get the 510 permanently "fixed" you must really tighten the pin. A little scary...but it has been flawless since that fix. Not only does it not short, it doesn't leak :D any more.

You know of course that the 510 is actually two parts?

Yeah two parts, I`ve had them apart to clean and tighten. I`ll do it again and really crank on it, thanks :)
Mean while I`m vaping the new to me Origen V2, five spaced wraps of 28 g Ni with a 3mm ID, 0.11 ohms and rock steady.

Did you try contact coils or are you allergic to them?

I'm a couple of clicks away from ordering one...though, don't like it he price I'm seeing.

I tried contact coils and they seemed to work ok. I`m getting better life out of a build using rayon and spaced coils.
It`s kind of a PITA to build the Origen, flavor is nice and plenty of vapor for me. I`ll give it more time but for now I`d say the Magma is more to my liking.
The build is much easier, greater range of air flow adjustment and great taste.
They both hold lots of juice. Having said all that I do like the Origen but I love the Magma. :)

my rdna40 screen went blank. well, half of it did. you couldn't see the wattage only the battery, ohms and voltage. I pulled the batt and that fixed it. it's only happened the one time... weird!

That's how mine started, yea pulling the battery fixes it for a time. Have you tried running it up to 40W and hitting the fire button a couple times ( you don't have to vape it ) to see if it glitches again?
