I think if you need more than 40 wats you might want to look at a different unit... personally I vape my tanks between 16 and 25 watts so, it good for me. Now, if I want to seriously sub-ohm I have mechs for that
speaking for my unit and only mine, it's a great device. I don't regret the purchase one bit

Same thing for watts. I'm not gonna say NOONE vapes at 100W since I'm sure some done. Buuuut. MOST will never need anything remotely close to that. 40W is a ton even if you're using heavy gauge wires and crazy builds.

Personally I prefer stuff like the god mod at 180W which allows me to burn my cotton, and especially at 180w I get a super nice smooth vape out of my coil.
Erie buddy!!! You have the chance to get a super nice dna 40 temp controlled mod for $159. That is an incredible deal! Once you play around with temp you will notice that watts become as pointless as cartridges when cartos came out.
If you end up hating the temp mode you can still use the rdna in regular kanthal mode. $159!!!

That's what I was thinking. I don't think I'll use anything over 25 watts but I was just looking at value. But that dna30 at $95 is awesome. Just don't like to spend that money knowing what I'm getting but you guys think it's a great deal and a great device. I'm gonna do it!

i do own a sig100w from a coop. Bought it specifically for building crazy builds for my own photo archive. But for normal vaping I never get past 30W. Nods. Another thing that a lot of folks overlook is the mechanism by which these chips regulate voltage.
The vast majority of these insane wattage device is that these chips looks at the resistance at the time of firing, and dumps the calculated voltage to achieve the desired wattage throughout the entire duration of firing.
The dna evolv chip on the other hand, continually monitors the resistance of your build hundreds of time per second while you fire, and continually adjusts the output voltage.
Of course I'm not sure if that actually makes a perceptible difference, but hey, that's technology right there

Ps pick up the rdna40 instead of the 30 is my advice. With buck PLUS reverse batt protection (especially important in the rDNA because of how the battery is arranged), you're waaaaay ahead even if you don't use TP

So after reading this thread and seeing the cyber Monday sale, I pulled the trigger on a dna 40. Noticed that they had a package deal offering the dna 40, a Russian 91%, and a sharkskin. Went with that and bought some 28 gauge nickel wire too. With the 20% off sale I got everything for $225....shipping included. Keeping my fingers crossed on getting a good unit.

I've had two higher wattage Chinese devices die in two months, so I went with the VS rDNA 40.
Wattage numbers do not equal value in my opinion. Build quality, usability, technology and form factor make my determination.
Evolv could easily put out a chip that fires Higher wattage, it wouldn't be difficult. They went the route they did to focus on accuracy, consistency, and quality of vape. -Imho.
That said out of the dna40 MODS out there i went with the rdna because of form factor and customer service, beets the other cats hands down.
-Then again im a fanboy what do i know.

So how long do you think we will be waiting for our Cyber Monday rDNA 40s? There was already a 15 day "processing" time. The way the web site was acting last night, I'm guessing it will be much longer now (though I really hope not).
Kinda like comparing a Mustang Shelby to a Porsche 911 (991). Yeah, the Mustang has more hp but it's rough around the egdes. The 911 is a much more balanced, well rounded sports car. Do you really need 650+hp? Is 400hp not enough? If you're into numbers, get the Mustang. If you want quality, go with the 911.
There was a 10 BUSINESS day wait when I ordered and it shipped in 3 days. I'd be surprised if you guys that just ordered didn't have it in hand within 10 business days (2 weeks).
Bah. Still on the fence about selling my flask and picking up a rDNA. Meh. Decisions decisions

Thanks for the info. Based on what you just said, wouldn't it be worth it to just get the dna 30? I RARELY go over 25 watts and primarily use my nautilus and kayfuns? I have two RBA's and they are 0.5 ohms and above.

Absolutely.
1) the 40 has reverse battery protection. The battery is placed upside down to what all other device do, and many folks end up putting the battery in the wrong will. The reverse batt protection alone is worth the peace of mind.
2) voltage step down!! Wub. Great if you're using clearos
Other fancy stuff you don't need but it's kinda nice....

600 orders were placed last night using the cybermonday code. The site could not handle the volume. I hope you are right though.
I have both.
The DNA 30s are.my grab and go for quick runs errands, dinners, dates.
The rdna40S are my workhorses. All day, i know i wont be close to a.power source.
If i could only have one, and with the sale the rdna40 its a no brainer.
Plus the option of the temp control. You dont have to use it, but i see it as a game changer. I say get it now while you can save more money they are both great units though.
I get all day on an 18650 in the rdna. The dna lipo gives me 4-5hours.
Just sayin so you can make an informed decision.
