So the temp thingy works with Kanthal too?

Nope. The device fires with Kanthal but won't use the temp protection. You'll need Nickel wire for that. (There's a theoretical discussion about other types of wire but Ni200 is what you are looking to get for practical building and is what Evolv recommends).
Thanks- this I know- it was the below post I found confusing. With that high a build I assumed it was Kanthal & the mention of temp.

I agree with Kiwi (and Joppa). I have been building my Lemo's for a few weeks using 28g 9wrap spaced (around a 6-32 screw, which gives it a 2.5mm ID) coil that has a resistance around 1.2 to 1.4. They have been working flawlessly at 25watts/410F, once you understand how to get the proper reading from the dna chip, and keep it.

Wow! 30 days guys? That's pretty much pre-order status. I guess I'm in for a wait. I just hope that since I ordered when the site said 15 days that they will honor that. I heard so many different wait times and they are seemingly getting longer. Not good. I just wish they would update us poor customers. Since customers always come first..

from an email a friend got from vaporshark, apparently the reason for the processing delay is that they got faulty boards, and are quality checking the new ones they receive (~300 rDNA40 a day is the number they gave). seems like a bunch of people are asking for refund because the reply he got seemed like a general e-mail they would send to anyone asking about a dna40, and provided information about how to get a refund and such lol.

They also told me they were having problems with the boards. Poor VS they decide to have a sale and wind up with faulty boards. Really thought they already had stock. In fact they did have some stock and decided to send them out with packages so they could get rid of some of their other items that may have been sitting around. Not a bad business practice but what may have been their biggest mistake is to send out orders to people that paid less and ordered after other people. Sorry wont work for me and im disappointed because I really would have liked one. Still think VS is a good co. and still will support them just when they have some stock.

Much as I'd really REALLY like to cancel and switch to a Vapor Flask....that's another $100.
And besides, the VaporShark is a Christmas gift. I still might cancel if things get worse, but I can't very well
hit up my folks for another HUNDRED bucks. I'm lucky enough they had the budget to (try to) get me a VS.....

Thanks for sharing this information. I knew they were QCing their boards but I had no idea that it created this kind of backlog. Evolv must be up to their eyeballs in complains themselves. I really like what I know of that company but they should be timing releases for a good deal of QC on their own.

Thanks everyone for commiserating with me and sharing what you know. I sent my own inquiry to VS support. I'll copy/pasta whatever I get.

The big problem is the lack of communication on V/S part. If they would send a email or post in the tread or website people wouldn't be getting frustrated as much. It would take all of what five minutes.

I agree, especially if what was said above about them getting a bad batch of boards is true. I think most people would realize that's something that is out of their control and that sending out bad boards would be worse than waiting.

Unfortunately this will be my first real mod and I'm stuck with an 11 watt mvp so I'm not sure how long I'll be able to hold out, I almost decided that 15 days was going to be too long.

I just received my RMA'd RDNA back. It's a little too early to tell if it is going to glitch or not. I was disappointed that it doesn't have the latest firmware with the choice of C or F. Oh well. It took exactly two weeks from the day I mailed it until the day I got it back.

One thing to remember about the 30-day wait. That's 30 business days which is about 42 real days which means orders delivering in mid-January 2015!

It also hard to believe Evolv would be sending VS a batch of bad boards knowing full well about the problem. I just doesn't make sense they would do that.
