I don't think it's unreasonable for customers to expect a first-in first-out standard to be applied in high-demand situations like these. If it's not followed, let us know, so we don't wait even longer just hoping they circle back to us somehow. FIFO is not new, and 99% of the business world understands this concept.

/rant

FIFO is merely an accounting principle under GAAP. Regardless of whether they use FIFO or LIFO for their inventory statements, they should be sending out first orders first.

I just received my RMA'd RDNA back. It's a little too early to tell if it is going to glitch or not. I was disappointed that it doesn't have the latest firmware with the choice of C or F. Oh well. It took exactly two weeks from the day I mailed it until the day I got it back.

One thing to remember about the 30-day wait. That's 30 business days which is about 42 real days which means orders delivering in mid-January 2015!

It also hard to believe Evolv would be sending VS a batch of bad boards knowing full well about the problem. I just doesn't make sense they would do that.

Evolv sent out bad boards after they mistakenly thought the screen issue had been run to ground. Also, it seems that sometimes it took days or even a couple of weeks for the issue to rear its ugly head so some boards that had been checked at Evolv and/or the mod manufacturers went south later.

Brandon said in his Dec. 4 interview with Vapour Trails that Evolv had only just resumed production of their DN 40 chips after shutting it down for a week and a half. That probably would have forced VS to reschedule a production slot time with whatever company is doing the manufacturing for them.

I haven't had time to go through it completely again but it appears as though Vapour Trails has completely edited the part of the the interview where Brandon discussed the screen garbling/freezing issue and the DNA 40 production hiatus. I know darned well it was in there because it was one of the parts of the interview I double checked when I was indexing interview highlight times.

The big problem is the lack of communication on V/S part. If they would send a email or post in the tread or website people wouldn't be getting frustrated as much. It would take all of what five minutes.

I disagree. A percentage of people are going to ..... regardless of what Vaporshark does or doesn't do. By now we all know there is a delay, an email from VS is not going to change that. The rDNA 40 is a popular new product, demand is in excess of supply, pity but that's how it is.

Video was definitely edited because I had sent my buddy a link telling him to watch that same video starting at 59:30... now that part of the video starts at 30:52...

Regardless... at least he does address the issue. Skip to 30:52...  :?:

You're never going to please -- or in this case more like appease -- all of the people all of the time, but best practices says communication is key. Were they to keep everyone apprised of what is going on, yes, some people would still be upset and cancel, but overall customers would feel a whole better about VS.

Their shipping out of order, however, is a different matter. They need to get their act together about that.

I almost feel bad for being one of the lucky ones who got their shipment super fast. On the other hand, it is an awesome mod (and my first mod ever).

I really wish people were kept in the loop. It does seem they've left a lot of people hanging.

On a side note, what wattage would people run a 1.2 ohm twisted 32 gauge coil at on Russian 91%? I've been hovering around 12 W, but I'm not getting the flavor I expect.

thats the benefits of a dna device! you can change the watts at the press of a button and find what you like =d

I've been playing a little. But I'm not sure what happens if I go too high. I notice that at around 15 watts I start to get dry hits, and under 8 watts I don't get a lot of vapor.

So anything in that range would be okay?

you can vape a 1.2ohm coil at any watts you like as long as the amps dont exceed the batterys capacity. not sure what battery you have but most are 20amp+, and a 1.2ohm coil at 15 watts is only drawing 2.5 amps.

heres a nice site to help see if its 'safe' to vape at certain powers based on ur ohm/volts or watts. just gota make sure that the amps dont exceed the batterys amp rating.

sorry for the overexplanation if u already knew that , but yeah just keep tuning the wattage til you like how it tastes!

another tip also is the higher watts you go the more power you draw, so you need more airflow to cool down the coils. take faster inhales with more airflow if you run higher watts to keep from getting that burnt flavor. it cools down the coils so they dont burn the crap out of your wicks.

Thought I would share this. There's a "100ml challenge" in the rayon thread where folks try to hit 100ml without rewicking while still enjoying good flavor. I could never do it with cotton, and even with rayon, I was always peaking at 50+ml on a non-dna40 mod.

But today I cracked it. 102 ml of my DIY vanilla custard juice: 10% Capella v1 vanilla custard, 2.5% dulce de Leche, 4 drops EM per 10ml. This is how my coil looks with 30ga Ni200, set to 430F

Absolutely mindblowing.

Just rebuilt this sucker at 0.18 ohm.

It's weird, as soon as my coils get really black like that I find the flavor takes a turn for the worst on most juices. I've got into the habit of just rebuilding my Kayfun pretty much after every tank or tank and a half. Screw method, 9 wraps, Japanese cotton, 5 mins tops. I rarely fill it twice with the same coil and wick. Now that these coils aren't really cleanable, like traditionally dry firing kanthal, or at least I haven't tried, I just rebuild. Now while I don't experience any burning, which is the whole dang point, I don't find myself getting much more longevity out of my coil than I did with Kanthal, quite the opposite really. Once that gunk builds up it's not coming off and it builds up fast, twice as fast if you use microcoils.

Your juice or juices don't start tasting weirdish when your coils go black like that? Maybe I'm just sensitive to it but after a tank or so I just find adding more juice makes the juice taste different. It gets much darker too because the coils are coloring the liquid.

This has nothing to do with the VS or DNA40 of course, I'm perfectly happy with all that lol. Just making a comment based on your post. I find it sad we have to clarify these things nowadays on the internet, constantly, otherwise trolls lurk ready to pounce. Anyway...

That's cool. I'll have t look at that challenge. I am still running the coil/wick I put in my Erlkonigin n Oct. 23rd. I run on average of 5ml of 90% VG juice (Vanilla Frosting- FA Classic Vanilla 1%, FA fresh cream 2%, very heavily sweetened)... 430°, 24w..still no off taste or loss of flavor/vapor

This company has them for sale and say only a 10-14 day wait for shipping ... surely, they're at the mercy of VS and there's no logical reason I should cancel and move my order to them, right? Right? Somebody please talk some sense into me.

Don't bother switching your order to a different vendor. They will not be receiving their shipments any time soon as they are also on a waiting list for the qc'ed merchandise. You'll just be upset with he different vendor. VS tells the vendors the same thing that they tell us - 1st it's 15 days and then 30. Just wait it out that's what I'm doing as you can't get a mod close to the rDNA for $152 (cyber Monday price) anywhere else. The vaporflask looks nice but too big to carry around with you and they have their own qc problems.

I love the look of the rDNA and can't wait for mine to come in.... but damn - VS does not know how to run a business. The world is littered with the remains of former businesses that had great ideas and designs but poor execution.

My case exactly. Which is why I rewick with every tank fill. Whether rayon or ... cotton. Whatever atty, whatever type of juice.
