I only have a magma and KFL and I've been reluctant to do a build on my KFL because it's my main atty, that said I just put some juice in my nautilus and am taking apart the KF to do a build on it. I did try putting some kanthal in the post hole too and the reading has been fairly consistent though I'm not sure how much it's supposed to jump when firing.

Edit: Thanks for the suggestion.

just go for it, man. it's really not that big of a deal. I've only been building atties for 2 weeks and it has worked out well for me, it can't be that tough.:D

Good times, good times. Running my Aqua v2 on kanthal tho; deck is way too tiny to accomodate my nickel builds.

Side note, the aquav2 is a flavor or cloud monster. Love that thing.

Put the screen protector material on the bottom of your attys looks much better and works just as well,I've put this left over black carbon fiber vinyl on all my attys. BTW thanks for all the input I read this forum religiously.

Well now I feel stupid for bugging everyone and waiting so long to try a different atty, my first nickel build on the Kayfun is miles better than any of the ones on the magma. I'm still hitting the TP limit(400f right now) but it's mostly staying above 10 watts which seems about right for a KF and vapor production is about what I'm used to.

The resistance reading isn't changing at all when I fire it now so it looks like that was the clue I was missing and that it was a connection issue, most likely due to the post holes. From what I had read I thought that it would change over time if there was a connection issue, guess not.

The build deck on the KF is tiny for these spaced coils, I should probably order a Lemo like I've been meaning to.

Thanks to everyone that tried to help and everyone else for putting up with my long winded posts.

I don't have a Lemo. I'm not into too airy draws so the Lemo doesn't really appeal to me. The v4 does vape better than a KFL+.

See I'm just the opposite, When I smoked cigs it was always mouth to lung, since quitting and taking up vaping it changed to lung hits. Not sure why it changed or when it changed but it just happened. If I try to go back to mouth to lung hits it just doesn't satisfy. I guess to each his own...

i like the tight draw lung hits. the super airy lung hits just feel like im breathing in air. on a good note i finally figured out how to use nickel builds. I just build 0.1-0.2 builds and set it at 350-370. got to constantly use twisted 28gauge though, i dont get how you guys get those pretty single coil spaced builds, couldnt do that if i tried the wire is just too flimsy.

How is your vision? Wrapping a coil around a machine screw will give you a very uniform coil. Position and attach the coil to your atty with the screw still in the coil. Unscrew the screw to leave a perfect coil. The tough part will be getting your wick through the coil without distorting the coil.

I think you may be getting too caught up in making it "perfect". As long as you have space between the coils you should be good. I've been using a tiny flat screwdriver to try and get my spacing a little more consistent over the length of the coil after pulling my wick thru. By no means is it exact but it does help!!

I keep reading this about nickel wire; the fact that it's flimsy but I've yet to experience the flimsy side of it.
I treat mine pretty much like I do kanthal; meaning I'm not gentle with it at all.

I've played with lung hits and I'm not really into it. Dunno why. Maybe 30+ yrs of smoking has me used to mouth to lung hits.

What type of wick are you using? 350-370 seems kinda low. Cotton starts to singe at 410°F and that's very slight. With a wet coil, you can probably go a bit higher. I've been using mine at 420°F since I got mine and it works well with rayon. I've vaped it dry and when I re-wick, I wash the old rayon wick and sometimes there's a very slight brownish color under the coil but never burnt.

For coils, I usually wrap my coils spaced 1-2mm apart and then compress them by hand and they spring back in a nice tight, spaced coil.

It's definitely softer than kanthal but it's not a wet noodle :D.

Well I emailed VS customer support and still haven't heard back. I would just really like to get this resolved, I'd almost rather it still be in the mail than be here and sitting there, not being able to be used. My favorite dripper now has a nickel build in it, avidly waiting, but can sadly cannot be ran on my mechs...

If anyone else has had issues with the 510 connection, let me know. It's showing resistance on the device without anything screwed in, and won't accurately read the resistance of anything put on top (everything super low between 0.02 ohms and 0.16 ohms), and the resistance will fluctuate as the button is pressed. Now, I can't get any power to go to the atty on top, not firing at all. Tried a variety of atties including some old Kanger tanks I had lying about. None of them fire or show a proper resistance on the device. So frustrating!
