Just got my rdna. Anyone having issues with the ohms jumping around? Everytimr I press the button it goes up and down for example a 1.55 coil going to 1.57 1.62 1.59 ect?

You're using kanthal, so yes it is common. While kanthal does not have quite as much resistance change per temp increase compared to say Ni200, it does increase in resistance ever so slightly.

The dna40 chip happens to monitor the resistance hundreds of times per second (can't remember the exact number), and adjusts its output such that you as a end user will always be experiencing a constant wattage.

I got my second one with the cyber Monday sale as well and couldn't be happier! With two now in my possession, I think I'm set for a bit! Now on to the quest for the perfect topper continues.............

Good luck on the perfect topper quest! I`m kind of looking myself and nothing is calling out to me.

well I have had my VS RDNA 40 for almost a month now.

Its the version before the bigger screen update. works perfectly fine. TC seems to work and is kinda nice. though its now that I think about it kinda useless since I never use drippers(which benefit of not dry hitting) anyway.

the VS is heaaaavy. way heavier than my cana modz I used to have. That was the biggest surprise.

the only real negative I have is that the paint job on this thing is HORRIBLE. the paint feels soft to the touch and seems kinda...rubberyish?

but it chips and peels like its nothing.

this is my VS after less than a month.

This thing is always on my desk. if I take it out I put it in the inside of my jacket. which is soft as hell. nothing else in there so nothing is scratching it up.

this is pure from my hands.

I've had my rDNA for around the same time and it is also showing some battle scars. Not as bad as yours, but I don't expect the finish to last very long. I'm not sure what to do when it looks terrible, and unfortunately I think that it WILL end up that way.

Does anyone know or can guesstimate for me how long it would take for me to get a rDNA40 if i were to order it right now?

I know it says 10 days processing on their website but I was just curious what im getting myself into. I dont know if i should order direct from vaporshark and wait 2 weeks or maybe even 2 months like some I have read here have. Or would it be in my best interest to stalk one down locally in SoCal?

I keep hearing bad things about their customer service as well which kind of makes me a bit scared to give them my money rather than a reputable B&M. Anyone got info on this?

Outside of the fact that they won't warranty the finish I've heard mainly good things about their customer service, the one time I called them they were more than willing to help.

On a side note I tried another nickel build and it's working much better, it's still throttling a tiny bit more than I'd like but I'm not getting any harshness so I don't think the wick is burning this time. I'm guessing my problem was most likely user error, maybe I should have waited until I had more experience building coils before jumping on the temperature control bandwagon.

My wife ordered mine for a Christmas gift on 12/17 and I still haven't gotten a ship notice yet.

Get the shark skin. It'll prevent you from having any paint issues and doesn't add all that much to the size.

I will def get a sharkskin. Do you think the vaporshark wireless charger is worth purchasing? Or should I buy an aftermarket one with better specs on amazon or something?

Im not sure if I want to get into charging with a cable or wireless charging to be honest. I would rather just pop in new batteries everytime and charge with my xtar vp2 to reduce wear and tear to the chip and / usb port. Does anyone use it like this? I dont like the idea of a whole bunch of heat just sitting inside the vaporshark while using wireless or the USB connection. I even saw on their website that it gets so hot that the screen fogs up from the inside?? Thats crazy.

It definitely gets quite warm when charging on a Qi charger. Not to mention that I found it will screw up your base resistance reading because the DNA board and the atty will be at different temperatures. Charging with a usb cable works well and does not cause nearly the same amount of heat, but I have chosen to charge my batteries on a dedicated charger. This will keep the usb in good condition and is (arguably) better for the rDNA and batteries.

I'm a battery swapper and proud of it!

Do you use a sharkskin? Im convinced now that I am going to use the vaporshark this way. I just dont really like the idea of having to remove the sharkskin everytime to change out the battery. But if it has to be that way then I think I can deal.

So i just purchased a rDNA40 with a black shark skin. I am going to guess its going to take a month to get to me. In the meantime, could someone be so kind to post some images of the rdna40 with a black shark skin with a dripper attached to give me some idea how it will look like? I will be using mine with a marquis dripper.

Many thanks for doing so.

Also, am I correct to believe that all vaporsharks that ship out from here on out are the new version with bigger screen and the different more rubbery finish? I would hate to be receiving the older revision

I ordered the black sharkskin for mine, but the vendor never received the black ones from Vaporshark. I ended up going with the grey which is very light in colour. I don't bother with it because I think it looks cheap, but I'd probably use the black if I had received it.

I recommend not ordering from this terrible company who doesn't even accept returns or exchanges. Defective DNA40 that doesn't charge batteries after a 2 month wait now they want me to wait again while I send it in to be repaired. Terrible company and terrible customer service never ordering from them again.

does it not charge them altogether? I know i had the issue of it not showing it was charged in the screen, although it would still in fact be charging/charged.

I think that is how DNA boards do it I believe. The battery meter only updates when you fire it. Mine showed empty after 2 hours charging. After attaching an atomizer and firing it, it went straight to full.
