 The ignorance stated in the policy has really ...... me off!

Electronic cigarettes (e.g “e-cigarettes”, “vapes”, etc) are battery-powered or other
devices that provide vaporized doses of nicotine, or other narcotics, to the user. Like
tobacco products, the nicotine contained within contributes to a number of adverse
health effects such as coronary artery disease and hypertension.
Unlike approved
nicotine replacement therapies, such as gum or lozenges used to help the tobacco-
user quit, these devices are not a proven cessation aid according to the World Health
Organization. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has also warned that they are
unsafe, and many countries have banned these devices. For these reasons, electronic
cigarettes are also prohibited as part of this policy.

Please, somebody stop the earth, I want off. Wait, what? So the USP Nicotine in vaporizers is bad, but the USP nicotine in gum and lozenges is safe? The people in our HR dept are barely smart enough to make it to work on their own.

I highlighted the part in red and replied asking them to cite their reference. So far I have not received a response. I understand it is their building, their rules, and I respect that. However, the clear misinformation I DO NOT respect.

Turn in your resignation and find a new place to work. A company that actually has a clue to what is going on.

That is what I would do.

Or you can stop vaping and start smoking cigarettes again then take 3 or 4 breaks throughout the day to go out and smoke.

Quitting would be nice, but their stupidity caused me to be overpaid LOL. They banned all types of smoking on campus.

That really stinks about the ban. On a side note, I love the KLR650 in your avatar! I had an 06 Red and had to sell it a few years ago much to my regret. :(

Time to buy yourself another KLR then. These bikes are way too much fun. Especially on my trips to ride the Ozarks in Arkansas.

Recently bought a KDX 220 (2 stroke woods bike). Trying to get the feel of riding a 2 stroke proficiently now. It's a different beast.

I can understand that most people see it the same as smoking.
And i think that most people are afraid of becoming hooked on nicotine from vaping, like smoking.
It doesnt matter that its stupid, its how people feel, and if you inform them about it, its still up to them what to believe.
Also the people responsible for the company not getting sued, would not know what to do, so they take the cautious approach and ban it.

As long as the government keeps it legal im happy.

You cant stealth smoke, it stinks too much.
Even get a "Puff it" looks like an asthma puffer.

Just ban everything I dont like.

Thanks for posting this! Nice to have all of this in one place.
(Copied into my library of E-Cig docs & research.)

As for the stupidity of it all, I have come to a point where I accept the fact that we will encounter stupidity EVERYWHERE: on the road, at work, at play, in public places, and anywhere there are people. I simply ignore it and carry on the best I can without letting it get under my skin. I figure I can at least keep my blood pressure and aggravation in check, and perhaps live a little longer. (In fact, while teaching my son to drive on the roads around here, I think we encountered every idiot under the sun with a driver's license. I even commented to him how he was getting great experience with all the problem drivers we encountered.)

I also stealth vape alot, as others have suggested. :vapor:

not really sure what the big deal is? even if their information is faulty, they don't have to give you a reason, they could just say don't do it

my work told us we couldn't vape inside because it would set off the fire alarms, no need to question it, i still vape but i don't blow out clouds, but if i get caught i know i have no one to blame except myself, regardless of what the studies show, thats not important here

most of the vapers go out with the smokers and they need to walk off campus, no big deal, it's not worth trying to get into proving them wrong, it won't help

True. But then, if they had not given some reason, maybe the ban would not be accepted as well by people working there. Even non-vapers. People tend to react badly to "I want you to behave this or that way, just because. Because I simply WANT you to. Because I SAY so".
Much better to scare people with distorted facts and poor science, making them believe that "We're asking this to protect you".

One thing is making people wear protective helmets when wearing an helmet can actually save you live.

Another thing is making people wear protective helmets just because you think they look funny wearing one.
But you cannot tell them it's just for your own amusement... so, you must come up with some crazy excuse to convince people it's "for their own good", when there's actually no risk involved.

Why go thru the trouble of coming up with "reasons" and making fools out of people?
If they do not want people to vape "just because", they should state it as it is.
If they do not want to give a reason, just don't.
But they should not make up lies to "support" their policies.

Here's the trouble with this kind of approach: many of the OP's co-workers will soon be spreading the misinformation, because "they heard about the dangers of nicotine at work", and "management even banned e-cigs there because of those".

"And how kind management was to mind about our health".
