... which is why I suggested that the collective "we" put together something for the greater vaping community that collects our experienes with different carts/ tanks using different juice on x, y, or z voltage.

Just because I might experience an issue vaping x juice on a Stone III on an old Riva batt doesn't mean that someone else is going to have the same issue with a Stone III vaping y juice on a Provari.

In other words, it's not the Stone III that's the "problem" - it's the elusive "something else"

That's what cracks me up about hardware review threads. Nothing is particularly scientific in our varying approaches.

Then the modders come in and want to tinker.. (modders gotta mod :2cool:)

We go through this with (what seems to me) all the new carts/ tanks that come out.

For a vendor this kind of stuff has to be maddening because you have no easy way to determine the (as we say in software) "root cause". Is it viscous thick chocolate coffee toffee 100% VG juice being vaped on a LR tank on a higher voltage ("why does it taste burnt?") vs. "my friend is vaping Menthol Mania on the same tank on her 1000 mAH eGo PH and it works awesome!!"

There's all these different variables invovled. Same tank, different juice, different battery. It isn't always (in fact, it isn't usually) about the QC at the factory or the product itself, it's some intangible combination of different elements that make up the user experience.

So yeah, I'm glad I've got a vendor like GV to go to. No, I don't work for them :) There's maybe a half-dozen vendors out there for supplies and liquid that I would honestly say I support 100% because I know they care about providing a good customer experience and Dan and Chris are in that list.

Not every product will work for everyone. If you've spent $7.00 on something that didn't work out, then use something else. Always remember how much money we spent on those stinky analogs (depending on where you live) - $7.00 is "chump change" to satisfy your curiosity about a new product.

sincerely,

Aunt Cranky :vapor:

I couldnt agree more. I tried 3 juices on this my first two with a high sweetener concentrate from one vendor at 70/30 pg/vg vaped dry through both tank fills. The last one I tried was a red hot flavor at 50/50 and it vapes like a dream. Part of me wonders if the cinnamon is disguising the dry burn at lower temps because I can achieve it at much higher temps but that would be expected.

I totally agree - I rcvd the Nova yesterday and here are my observations:
-Great design, Plating not as good as the Stone 2, No leaks
-1.8 oHm head metered @ 2.6 / 2.4 @ 3.6 / 2.8 @ 3.6
-Started with the 1.8 and the draw is so stiff that it was like suckin' on a pencil.
-Vapor production was mediocre at best, flavor was ok (not gonna write home tho)
I've been vaping for over 2 yrs. and have established a standard for a satisfying experience - fluxos, visions, boges, DCT tanks (smoktech) and the only ones I haven't had to mod or mess with were the DCT set-ups (other than cutting my own feeder slots) - so based on the 1.8 (2.6), this is definitely a fail - I'll mess with it some more and see if I can get it to perform and will also try the other two heads and report back if I have any luck.
And to Danno.....I'm sure it's no fun reading less than positive reviews about a product that your obviously proud of but when I pay $16 for an item I expect it to be up to my standards without a lot of fiddling, god knows I've done enough fiddling over the yrs - if there are so many people that are lovin' these then the ones that aren't, the minority, should be taken care of instead of assuming that they don't know what the hell they're talking about.
i think most people know that these came out few days ago and they are smart enough to weed through us jerks that voice their opinion when something doesnt work. most every user will have a knee-jerk reaction if something doesnt work out of the box. what most people dont know is that these (along with most ce 2's) need to be modded for full potential. some leak, some dont. some have dry hits, some dont. typically its due to the juice but not always. its not fair to ask us not to say something isnt working for us when it isnt. if it isnt working for us, we are supposed just say hm...i guess this isnt for me, and move along? for the most part the critizism has been constructive and that is what you need at this stage because the ce2 business is in its early stages. you will always find the ones that say they will never buy a certain product again but...every manufacturer deals with those kinds.
there are many ( just about everyone who has posted here) that is reporting little to no flavor with the vivi nova and it needs to be fixed for its survival. i got a vivi nova and i get no flavor but i dont rant about it here....nor should i be reprimanded for a negative product opinion.

just my 2c

So cinnamon is ok in this tank? I have 50/50 Fire & Ice I was afraid to use in it.

So... I've decided to build my own coil/wick for these. Due to the fact that mine is having "the coil gets hot before it hits the wick" problem and the "burnt taste" issue, they are linked directly in my eyes. No idea where to get started though. Can someone post a link to a basic build your own coil thread? I've been searching but... No luck. I'll keep looking. A push in the right direction could be usefull... Just saying.

I have placed a few orders with GV, nothing near what I'm sure many, many others have. I'm extremely happy with the customer service, and the involvement with the community here....you guys are well above other vendors imo. I don't personally place any product issue blames on you, I think it's a manufacturer issue, and you can only do so much.

I can't help but wonder something. I've watched (and read about past) several product releases here, and what seems to be somewhat common is "tested really well", then first run has issues (minor and major), adjustments need to be made, then the product(s) improve. Who exactly is making (and this is past you guys to the factory) the smaller/test batches of the products? Are they the same workers that put out the mass production (1st batch and beyond), or is it a smaller group of whomever that take their time and possibly makes a much more consistent product? What I'm getting at is that these products are testing so well, then coming into issues upon mass release...something is off. If there is a 1% flaw/problem with a production of 3,000, then there should still be a problem with 1% of the production of say 100 test products.

I'm really just thinking out loud here because I want to believe in these products and continue to buy and use them. I was a purchaser of the first run 8s, which was my first venture into a newly release products in the vaping world. Those two 8s are still in their box in my storage bin. I won't use them, never will use them (currently with other products being saved for emergency backups), and wouldn't feel right about trying to sell them. I spent what I feel is a good bit of money on them, and that's now a loss...lesson learned. I now take a car mentality where I refuse to buy a "first year model" because there's more than likely going to be kinks. I'm just trying to figure out why the kinks are happening for your products.

My biggest issue is not that there may be kinks to work out on a new product, but rather the potential money spent on something that may need to be tweaked. Would it be crazy to suggest that the factory do introductory runs at a reduced cost to you that you could pass on?

Again, just thinking out loud here.

actually the issue with this is that we tested many and they where fine, we are getting ffedback on our site and not 1 complaint yet except here on ecf and forums so we use that to give feedback to the factory. over 200, actually 250 where tested for leaks and many other things and they also vaped them and no issues where found.

the main issue is while we had ton of input on the vivi nova, named it, got metal tubes, even gave designs of the twist off top ( original was snap on) and much more, what WE WHERENT INVOLVED with is the wick and coil which another vendor proudly took credit for so i cant answer with confidence as to what was done with that so people should be going there and asking him whats up with that. What we can do is take the information given by the user here and let the factory know what to keep a eye on QC wise.

Mine seems to be doing all right, with a slight haze on the tank itself. I plan to buy a new sleeve when they release to not worry about it but all in all I have been using cinnamon in mine for 4 days and seems to be working out good.

Seriuosly all, take your atty combo off while its dry and untwist each of the rope wicks till they are strands, it has helped soooo much with flavor and vapor. I really think the wicks are just wound way too tight.

Yes, of course, the forums can get out of control easily. I understand that part of it, no problem. Part of it is also that email media is notoriously bad for conveying emotional context. This is pretty much the eternal problem - people read stuff into messages that may or may not have been intended by the poster, and it builds from there.

I may have been feeling a bit thin-skinned last night, too. My dog is very sick.

And, I really do like the ViVi. I am sure that whatever minor glitches a few of us may have had are just that: minor glitches. I firmly believe that this critter is the way to go, ultimately. In fact, I just ordered another one. The heads are easy and cheap to replace, if it comes to that, so I'm not worried, and I want to have more than one body on hand.

Cheers.

Briar, I wasn't speaking of the type of posts you made, they were well thought out and not of the obnoxious variety. I was speaking of a piling on that started at some point with at least four different posters on the attack. My post did not have as much hinged or unhinged emotion in it as you might have perceived. I felt it was necessary as a check as it seemed to be getting out of hand and I wanted to put my foot down as to what Chris meant and to stop the momentum of the piling on I saw. At some point, if left unchecked, it turns into some sort of panic, spreading like wildfire, and word goes around, erroneously, that the ViVi Nova bombed out to the point the GotVapes is offering replacements, etc., and this is not at all reflective of the product nor was it intended with any of my partner's statements.

Chris at one point stated he was going to see what he could do about any issues that had been brought up and he started getting pushed a bit about it. He did not mean that there was some major problem with the unit that would deem it necessary to provide wholesale replacements and/or recall the unit. Issues. You have that with any release. China vapes with the juices they have and this team did test this product very thoroughly. But we still have their ear and they try to make it to where the unit will work with as wide of an audience as possible. But no one piece of vaping equipment is universal.

So we are back to taking feedback and issues to China and see if there is anything that can be done to help improve the product in areas we have received feedback after releasing it into the wild, with the infinite variables only the general public can bring. With that said we have been generally very happy that it seems to be working very well with most.

Oh lastly, I have been running the Provari at 4.1 on the 2.4 ohm atty, for the first few days anything higher would cause dry burns. Just refilled the tank for the 4th time and stuck it at 4.3. The flavor and vapor are holding in and havent gotten a dry burn yet.

I'm doing 3.9V on the 2.8 Ohm head (which is actually reading 3.0 Ohm). 80% PG juice. It's doing quite well. The only thing I did to that particular head is snip a tiny bit off the bottom of the silicone cup.

Now onto the Vivi,,, I took my Atty head and re-built it in only a couple of minutes, I used 36AWG Kanthal and my own 2mm wick. The 2mm wick seems to be better in the Vivi in my opinion then the smaller wick and makes it run more like the stone tank as far as flavor and vapor. pop off the center pin from the bottom of the Atty head and take it out then take out the gommit. wrap your kanthal around a needle 3 wraps then wet your wick and twist it through your coil. this makes a nice tight coil instead of just wrapping around the wick but you can go either way, I like wrapping around the needle for a really tight coil and twisting the wick through better. Then slide your wires through from the top pulling your wick down tight from the bottom, one wire through the center the other wire in between the side wall and grommet, then push your center pin back in securing it against the one wire, then break the leftover off....

Aha, ok, the light dawns. I took apart my funky head (!). Broke a couple of nails in the process (!). But I see how it's put together now, and so I see your point...

Not being known for my patience, I took apart a Fluxo (! - yes, I know, lots of exclamations, but you have to understand, this is a real jump into the deep pool for me) and tried to stick the Fluxo coil into the ViVi head. Echoes of Frankenstein... I must have done something wrong, 'cause I got an error code on the Provari. Well, I'll wait for some raw materials and try it again. I think I pushed the coil too far down, it was almost *in* the hole rather than on top of it.

Thanks, Mwa, great directions.
