The reason I ask is because I had given up on DIY a while back because all my mixes had barely any flavor.

The ejuice calculators have a default 20 drops = 1ml equation in it for the ingredients. I found out the droppers I was using were actually measuring 42 drops/ml. That fixed my flavor problem and ive been having great results ever since.

find out what the per ml is for the syringes/droppers your using and that may solve your problem.

The only mixes I steep are Tobacco's (a month) and those that have creams above 1-2% (48hours) and Cheese cake's (try to leave them a month but normally can't). As to the taste I really can't say.

okay and did you get a nice strong flavors for those percentages? never knew you can put too much flavor

I haven't vaped root beer in a long time but the best flavoring I found for it was at Walmart, believe it or not. Their Watkins Root Beer flavoring had the best taste to me. Also if you add just a tiny bit of spearmint with root beer, it will make the flavor really pop. I wish I could find my formula but it seems I only used 10%. It did not make sense to me but it is true that to much flavoring can cause the flavors to be muted. Just my 3¢(inflation). Good luck to you. :)

Here is a site that I have looked at when trying to come up with what would go good with what. Helped me.

With TFA flavors, you will VERY seldom come up with anything good without using creams and vanillas and sweetener -- TFA flavors are not complete flavors, they're like building blocks. I strongly advise studying The Flavor Apprentice thread, it's what taught me to make really good ejuice.

I have been making my own juice for around 5 years now. I have been told that my juices are always cleaner with more flavor than any store bought juice. Unless someone really has to have something different, I always use 60/40 pg/vg mixture. I also do percentages by flavor not by the entire mixture. I normally do 1 or 2 flavors per juice sometimes 3. I never really go above or below 7% for each flavor. If I want one flavor to overpower another I will do 8% for one and 6% for the second.
I use breaktru's calculator and it makes things very easy. I also will only use syringes. Drops are far to inaccurate.
I also do not steep my flavors. I never saw a point and never noticed a difference in it. I just shake mine up once completed and let them sit until they clear up.
I get all my supplies from RTS and I keep my nicotine in the freezer in dark bottles.

Also keep in mind that if you have been vaping alot that it is possible you have vapors tongue. I went wild testing all of my new found flavors and quickly lost my sense of taste for a week or so.

You could have overshot your flavor percentage or some people just need a bit more flavor than others. I have been know to have my flavor mixes as high as 22% total but then again I like strong flavors. There are many factors you just have to figure out which one it is.

When mixing always start low and then add more not the other way around. Trust me you will end up wasting a lot of materials if you start out higher and then try to dilute it and decide you don't like the flavor after all.
