I use a provari, so its a very minor consideration. I have a feeling I can get pretty close to 3 without too much difficulty.
Your Provari will cozy up to a 2.0ohm Nova head just fine and you wont notice a thing.

Good info. This is just what i wanted wire, wick and places to get it not to mention i was wondering about the # of wraps also.![]()
Thanks for the clarification. My next question- is it difficult to get a 3 ohm resistance with Kanthal? Not a big deal, that's just the resistance I'm accustomed to so its kind of a baseline for me.
That's exactly where I aim for, between 2.8 and 3.4, and do 4 wraps with 33 ga Kanthal. I wrap the coils about a machine screw so they do come out nice and even,
Orders placed for wick and wire, thanks Bronze, Gthompson, and PONKAW for the tips.
I admire all of you for rebuilding them. Since I don't have any desire to do that, I rinse after every tank or two and dry burn like I used to do with the Phoenix. Still, after a week or so, the flavor drops off and I wind up getting a sore throat. From what and why, I don't know. It's worth it to me to put on a fresh one every week or so.![]()
I'm going to have to get a fly tying vise thing with a magnifier lens to do this.lol
A good pair of side cutters for snipping the wire and wick material are on the list also.
I hate it when your snips are dull or don't quiet snip at the end where you need it the most with small stuff.
True. As for cutting the legs after you get the head put back together...twist them off instead of cutting them off. It detaches closest to the connection point and a cutter cannot do it as close (makes a difference when you are trying to prevent shorts). Just ask GT.
So small square nose pliers would work better (square on the end) i will have to research those. I know of linesman pliers but they are too big.
I'm getting started with a couple of Nova tanks and have ordered wick and wire. I already have a work station where I do fine solder work with magnifying glass, test equipment, small tools, and snips. Do you guys recommend using a needle or wire straight to wind over with the wick. I've seen some use needles some paper clips.
