Try a burn test on a piece of that wick to see if it is 100% cotton. Does it just char over or does it like burst into flames? or what?
i attempted to make a genisis a while back... made some spring loaded posts out of stainless steel watch strap bars with a hole sparked through the middle. worked well if a little fiddlyView attachment 114704
light it and it gently burns, if you blow the flame out, it glows like a match would(?). the ash just falls apart in your fingers.Try a burn test on a piece of that wick to see if it is 100% cotton. Does it just char over or does it like burst into flames? or what?
dumb question would be,,, Did you wash it 1st. (you wouldn't eat an apple without washing it 1st) And they all seem to need a day to break in. (Same with the CE2s )
If you received a V2.5 with the long wicks, I've found they need the old RS - CE2 V2 fluff job on the wicks. Take a straight pin and unravel the wicks right up to the coil cup, not sure why but it improves the wicking until I get around to replacing it with cotton gauze.
They are avalable at 2.8 with silicon out of the packet at around $3-4. I think about $12 or so with a tank.
Not sure who your local dealer is but LJESmokes and esmokeronline both local'ish stores to me have them.

Wondering if there is anything else to blame? Juice? Wire? I need to somehow find out what's not causing problems so I can take them out of the equation!!!
