"You guys" who?

I think you misunderstood my sentence. I was not referencing Americans, I meant ALL great inventors (from ANY country).

This is my concern as well, but I believe that we are the ones causing the riff. I think Notcigs has every right to try and patent it (if they were the first) Now whether or not they CAN, or if it's too late... well that's not for me to decide. The patent court/people, whomever.. they shall decide.

I think it's a shame that people would turn their backs and say they will never purchase from Notcigs, because of this patent business. If they have the right, they should be allowed. It's good business. Now what they do with it, and how they handle it.. that's entirely different, and may or may not have repurcussions on their future business.. But for right now, personally, I think it's a good business decision.

You definitely make a good argument, makes more sense if you look at it like that. I guess I can see why they would want to patent it, I just worry about smaller venues not being able to pay royalties for it and/or, how steep the price of PV's would go up for American consumers. We already have the threat of the government putting taxes on e liquid looming over our heads. I can't speak for everyone but aside from my health, one of the reasons I quit smoking and started vaping was that its much cheaper. If it ends up going through (personally I don't think it will, but that's my opinion) I just hope they are reasonable. The economy here in the US is bad enough and many people are just scrapping by, gas is through the roof and my grocery bill has gone up about $100 a month. Besides, manufacturers sometimes need a good run for their money it's healthy for the evolution of our PV's. Seems to me that their worried about some good ole fashioned competition. If they limit the technology's that a vendor/maker can use we're basically going backwards. Thanks for the points you made Leanne since reading your post, I think it's fair to hold off on passing any judgments until we see if they get it, and how they use it.

+1,000,000 .. Let's not make them out to be the bad guys like some ppl are trying to do. I see no sense in that. As Imeo and a lot of others have been saying, this won't get approved. So let's stop worrying about what could be, because either way you don't know what the future holds.

This was inevitable.

Whenever a new industry emerges, there is generally going to be a "grace" period where competition is minimal and people (meaning businesses) come together to collaborate, innovate, compete, and take whatever market share they can carve out for themselves. Once that new industry reaches a threshold of value (the amount of which depends on the nature of the product or service) then all of that goes right out the window and the industry becomes about what all BUSINESS is ultimately about: Money.

It always amazes me when I read some of the posts by people that believe the vendors on here actually care about them beyond a certain point.

I read post like this: "OMG vendor XYZ was so wonderful to me and helped me quit smoking and helped me learn stuff and I feel like they are part of my family now. I won't ever shop with another vendor because XYZ is sooooo wonderful !"

Yes I am exaggerating to make a point. Vendors are in Business to make money, and if they help some people out in the process cool, but beyond that the relationship that customers have with vendors is just that: a customer vendor relationship. If there are people that don't believe me, I suggest you try threatening their profit margin and then see how far your fictitious relationships carries you.

Don't get me wrong here, I'm glad that vendors exist (these products probably saved my life) and I don't begrudge them their right to make a dollar just like everyone else. I just don't confuse the relationship that I have with vendors, which is this: They have a product or service that I want, I am willing to pay them for said product or service so I do so. Business will be very nice to you and treat you very well for one simple reason: They want your money.

In short the industry is growing too rapidly to sustain this concept of "lets all just play nice and be fair with each other." If people believe that this industry will not evolve like any industry (if it does not get fully shut down first) then they are naive.

The best we can hope for is that when all the smoke settles BT, BP, The FDA, and the government will not have too much power over the industry.

Hey Guys,

Thought I would chime in with my 2 cents. I agree with everyone that the patent is silly, however I have a big problem with the fact that he is sending threatening letters out to manufacturers, and using the ECF for his "campaign".

If he wasn't doing those two things, I would have no problem with this.

And cudos to you, IMEO, for not trying to punish small manufacturers. After all, what is the point? Really, what is to be gained from that?

If BT, or Joye, or somebody big takes your patented technology and uses it, I say "Go For it!", but there is nothing to be gained by threatening a bunch of little guys.

Thanks Master. Exactly as you said, I have not something else to add. We totally agree.:)

Valentine, I agree with you but I think that you could see things from a little softer view. I agree that noone wants to threat his profits. His profits gives food to his family. But if a man is very helpful and polite and does more things than those he had to do then he can be a serious part of your life if you agree. You know that you can depend on him at least to your e-cigs issues. And if all people were like this we could be all brothers.

The only problem with that is the small manufacturers would go under for developing something that a larger company takes. This is the business world, and patents are a part of business. Everybody in this field should be protecting their work. It's just smart business sense. What if Mr Benz never applied for a patent for the first gasoline powered automobile? Who would be making money off of his hard work?

FS,

I totally agree with you! People should patent their ideas (provided they are THEIR ideas of course), however they should not go hog wild trying to extort money from small manufacturers. If some company is making millions from your idea, by all means hire a lawyer and go nuts! But don't threaten people and try to get a few grand from that guy, a few grand from this guy.

That's exactly what the RIAA and MPAA has been doing in the U.S., and its just evil.

Understandably. Nobody should charge a million dollars for you to make fifty bucks, but nobody should expect to pay fifty bucks to make a million either.

The big corporations will be jumping in soon. They will swamp every single small business that is currently running. Because of that, I will restate the fact that every person in this industry needs to get protection. At least they will still earn some money off the giants that come to terrorize us all.

Sorry to bring that gloom, but we'd be fools not to see that happening. I'm sure that Big Tobacco and Big Pharma spend more in one day ($41,000,000 for tobacco alone) on advertising than what all of the current businesses, combined, earn in a month or maybe a year.

Pol, you are right, but.....
I have to admit that what I have done until now is unique. From the first mechanical cig to the UFS. But nothing of them is really patentable now because they are already in the market. I could patent them before I sell them. Now its too late. But it was never on my intentions to patent them.

I think he could make it like an adjustable battery, and make it work like the GGTB insert. However he decided to incorporate the adjuster wouldn't really matter, the fact that the voltage could be changed to the users liking would be the key. It may be to simple for some people but it would serve the purpose.

The booster needs more place so I want to do something else. I am going to make an electronic circuit with zero losses, that can go from 3 volts to 7,4 volts. With 2 pushes of the button you go to 3,7 volts. 3 pushes and you go directly to 7,4 volts. 2 sec push and you go to zero. Circuit will remember the last mode.
I dont see that we need something else. Simple and easy to remember:)

Variable voltage with 3 settings isn't very useful to me.
Ive considered some thing that is built like a small battery in diameter, as thin as possible, with some form of adjustment. It could be adjusted by removing it with the batteries. As far as space goes it could be placed in the fuse area of the GGTS if the fuse could be replaced with a VV mod and the switch would then make contact with it instead of the fuse.
