Understood. The poly is covering the wood surface. I like the wax on mine. I like the UV protection also. I have made some of the older REO's with the poly coat shine by using the wax. None of the finishes show they have been harmed in any way by the Howard's wax.

Everyone can use their own judgement and decide. Robert did say a damp cloth would be fine for cleaning.

Glad you posted this. Experience goes a long way. I'll be putting Howards Sun on mine for the very same reason; UV protection. The Howard's doesn't have any of the petroleum "solvents" that other waxes have so shouldn't, in theory, affect the poly coating. And, of course, Howard's inside. I didn't get DH's Redwood Mini waxed inside and beveled edges of door done soon enough and his juice did darken the edges of door. I couldn't get it away from him for over a month!!!!!! I got mine waxed pretty quickly and it doesn't have any staining. I'm not so worried about staining inside but they do need the wax to keep bare wood fed and protected from moisture. Both of the Figured Redwood Mini Woodvils needed a little sanding of edges of doors after a penetration of orange oil. I practiced on DH's and over did it a little by taking a little too much off and I didn't do it on a perfectly flat surface with extremely fine sandpaper that was needed. He didn't care as it is not that noticeable. His main priority is function and comfort.

Hugs, Alice

Let's see if this works when I press submit reply (works when I preview it) Photo bucket / image code, then instead of using the "insert image button" I just paste it on the page....fingers crossed!

I got this off the Howard's site:
"Build-up" is a combination of dirt, grime, wax etc. and is usually caused by a lack of cleaning and not by over-applying wax. A quality wax will not "build-up" but will dissolve and redistribute itself on every application while the excess should come off on the soft cloth every waxing. Orange or Lemon Oil helps break down this excess build-up, however they do not remove all of the wax like many wood "cleaners" do. Feed-N-Wax should be used every two months or so depending on how dry the wood is, the type of wood finish, climate, etc. - Howard Oils can be used every time you dust.
Feed-N-Wax is a blend of beeswax, carnauba wax, and Orange Oil that is of a gel consistency.

Good Morning REOnuts!

Now how can I say this without being condescending. Its less about the camera, and more about lighting and composition. Not that mine are anything special, mind you. I do know several pros and one of their biggest pet peeves is when they get told 'You take such great photos. You must have a really great camera.'
My favorite camera, that I got my best pictures from was an old hand me down Panasonic. I learned that camera inside & out and could get pictures that I fail with using my Nikon or Sony "better quality" cameras. I agree it is more about comp. and light, and knowing your camera. I've seen great pictures taken with a phone camera and crappy pics taken with high dollar Canons.
Ack! Panic post! Quick rundown: received VV Woodvilles today and threw one into my carry on bag with batts, etc. for assembly after arriving at my destination. Assemble and prime atty, add drip tip, install juice bottle, install batteries. Get some lovely puffs and decide to go read ECF for a little while with a few puffs on the side. And then:

THE MOD IS FIRING ON ITS OWN AT RANDOM INTERVALS. I'm glad I didn't have it in my pocket (or worse, in another room or in storage) when this happened; it was just seating on the couch next to me. Double checked that the firing button wasn't stuck (it wasn't) so I turned the on/off switch to "off" and then back to "on"...and the random firing resumes just as soon as I set it back down. Please, somebody help me! I can't have a mod that "decides" to suddenly become very very hot and put tremendous stress on expensive batteries and expensive atomizers!

How is this circuit being completed without human intervention?? Some sort of short across the switch wires? Or is there some other point of failure that I haven't considered. I want to use my new toy but it's very much scaring me at the moment!!
:(Sorry to hear this. Rob will have you fixed up in no time.

No oder with mine either :)
She is BEAUTIFUL Pietro!

My husband keeps saying when he vapes he is tasting the wood really bad. Is anyone else having the same issue. Do the original Woodvils have the same thing and will it go away and about how long if so. I read someone said you can put it in coffee to get rid of the smell. Would that work for the taste too? I haven't tried mine yet as I haven't got the soldering iron yet and I'm not use to his juice so I can't taste it as much as he does. Any suggestions?

My Oak just now did the very same thing. This was the first time that I know if it doing it. I have the same Boge 2.0 carto on it that I started with Wed evening. It kept going for about 5 seconds until I turned the switch off. I turned the switch off and back on and then took a couple of tokes about a minute apart. Then set it down. At about 5 minutes, sitting right beside me, nothing touching it, it started firing on it own. House is pretty quite and no TV on and it's about 12" from my ear so easy to hear. Will report back later.

I haven't done any waxing to it or put it in any coffee grounds yet so it's basically virgin.

{edit} I just turned switch back on and it started firing up immediately without my touching the button. Bummer.

beautiful VV Pietro

Sterno what kind of wood is that in your avatar? Ebony? I didn't see that one. It's gorgeous. Then again I don't think I saw any that weren't. I still can not just stop admiring them. They truly are works of art and so much nicer in person. They were beautiful on the site but absolutely stunning in person. I think I want another. LOL

The eliquid doesn't contact the wood -- he must be picking it up via the nose, scent of the wood, much of "taste" is actually "scent". That's why you can't taste anything when you have a cold -- it isn't that your mouth's taste receptors are shot, but that your nose is stuffed up.

Another question. How is it making the juice taste like wood or chemicals? i just can't figure out why it would do that when the bottle is sealed and the atty is up on top. I just hope it goes away soon.

Your sense of smell is closely aligned with your sense of taste. What you're sniffing is what you're tasting.

Did you see my earlier post about using a minute rice bag to pack your mod in coffee grounds?

Oak is going bonkers. When I turn on the switch it either starts up full burn or has a faint sizzle for 3-5 seconds and then full burn until I turn the switch off. I need to get some sleep so will remove batteries and address the issue after sleeping for a few hours.

I blew some compressed air into box, just gentle puff, from both directions. It didn't make any difference. Gonna put an atty on. I've changed out batteries and have it on lowest voltage.
