So I have been doing some reading, and I am thinking I want to try some DIY. I want to start really simple and go from there.

Here is what I am thinking about doing (please tell me if I am on the right track..

I will get this: LARGE 50ml bottle of 18mg unflavored DIY e-Liquid base

the nic level is about where I want it already. Here are my questions:

can I just buy the flavoring and add it?
Is it really that easy to start with?
What affect does the flavoring have on the nic level?
Are flavorings PG based?
Where can I get flavoring? Any B&M type shops? (Hobby Lobby, Michaels)
How do I know how much flavoring to start with?

I prefer high PG juice, so any thoughts on that would be appreciated as well :)

Thanks everyone!

Geeve

I bought some 36mg base from my freedom smoked (mfs) and got it 50/50 when i started. Very versatile. You can mix any strength at most preferred ratios.

Buying 18mg will end up being diluted down anywhere from 10-20% with flavors so you won't get 18 strength with your mix. Get 24mg base minimum if you like 18mg juice.

Download the ejuicemeup calc. It's the easiest and most comprehensive I know of. Just plug in what base your starting with, what you want in the end, and what % flavor you're adding. Does all the math for you.

Best to start with the most widely used flavors: The Flavor Apprentice, Capellas, Hangsen, Flavor West.

RTS Vapes has a great selection of flavors but that is only one of many quality vendors. You can buy them direct as well.

I'd recommend checking out RTSvapes. This is what I started with for PG and VG.

60 ml of 36 mg Flavorless Nicotine Liquid - Propylene Glycol USP Grade $6.95
60 ml of Vegetable Glycerin USP Grade Kosher Certified $4.35

Real easy to make a 50/50 blend to get to 18, I know you wanted higher PG, so the math is slightly more difficult. ;)

Check out their prices, I think you'll find them much better.

MFS, Wizard Labs, RTS, and E Cig Express have everything you need to get started. I ordered from MFS first and then RTS. All my flavors, syringes, bottles, and glass came from them. I want wizard nic but apparently wizard doesn't want me to. lol

Minimum to get started:

Nic Base
PG & VG (cheap)
Couple Flavors (mind boggling)
5-10-15ml plastic bottles (cheap)
1-3-5ml syringes and at least 1-2 18 guage blunt tip needles (very cheap)

That's really all there is too it.

If you like ry4 type stuff, just get a 10ml bottle of TFA Double RY4 and mix that @ 10% or so and you'll be super happy. Don't worry about complicated mixes and multiple flavors yet. Crawl-walk-run.

You can make do with just a 1ml & 3ml syringe until you're ready to mix bigger bottles. Definitely get a 1 ml for flavors though. You need to be exact with that. Wiggle room is at a premium with some of them.

I get it now LOL! Once I had the tabs open and opened the calculator, I can see what it is doing now. Thanks Everyone!

One more question..... Should I start with the recommended flavor amount and then add from there if it is to weak?

Geeve

The problem with flavor is the subjective nature. I usually start below the recommended if I'm making a single falve juice. Some are fine and some are weak. Delivery device means a lot too. I'm new to the mech mod / RBA world and man, it's a world of difference. It's like a flavor bomb compared to my tanks. Has me rethinking how i want to mix my stuff.

I like the ranges most people provide. Like 10-15% or something like that. Then it's easy to go 10-12% and see what I think. But what I think and you think can be miles apart.

It's a craft for sure and overwhelming at the beginning. I'm very new too and I just now feel comfortable mixing 1-3 flavor combos. The KISS method couldn't be more important when getting into this game.

I'd actually recommend starting a bit lower than recommended and then working up.

Before that, below my avatar is the line "Blog Entries: 3", click the 3 and then go to the Flavoring Levels blog and give it a read. Once you've read that, you should be able to tell if you need more flavoring or not in your first experiment.

It's not difficult, but not everything is intuitive...
