Another +1 for a Reo if you like mechanical, and like squonking...that's a perfect fit.

I have several, and I have a dripbox. And there's actually something SLIGHTLY different about the lack of a chip in the Reo. I actually do like the convenience of 5-click off (but if I'm packing it - it's flown with me a bunch this month - I don't trust that AT ALL, and pull the battery).

Besides that tho - the mechanical fire button on a Reo just has a slightly more "pure" hit to it. I don't know how to explain that, but I prefer it over anything regulated - even the "not really regulated" dripbox button.

Then, of course, the other thing is that if you want or need to, you can use a Reo as a hammer, maybe prepare that faulty dripbox for recycling by beating it flat with a Reo. And the Reo will be fine.

So - get in the classifieds if you can, and look for a deal. Or get the "economy" version that's something like $120?

Not really, no.

And how not?
There are parts, that get hot, aren't there?
Granted they don't come with internal liquidbottle, which can make the difference.
Still wouldn't assume no bad things can happen, 'cos I have this and this device powered by this battery.

Intresting, but on the other hand this could have happened to ANY electronic device on the market, EVEN one that comes with a price of several hundreds.

Well, most electronics aren't supposed to be used in direct conjunction with liquids. Mods have to be a step above, in a manner of speaking. They don't all quite make the cut.

Firstly I'm glad no one got hurt.
As I understand e-liquid is not electrically conductive, so I'm not sure how it getting in the electronics could have caused an auto-fire. It shows that any mod, regulated, mechanical or as in this case a hybrid can auto-fire even if used carefully.

The eFest 3000 mAh battery is a rewrapped 10a battery.

@ErnieKim that Efest was tested by Mooch at the end of last year, and at that time he rated it with a 20 amp CDR. The issue is as with all re-wraps that you don't know what is under the wrap, and this is subject to change without notice. In fact Efest have already been proven to do this with other cells in their stable. If yours had been a 10 amp CDR, and you had been using the stock 0.2 ohm coils, then you would have almost certainly have had a venting/exploding battery as well as an immolated atomizer. I vented an Efest and it was like a bottle rocket, flying round the floor spewing flames and toxic smoke, and when it was done it was so hot it burned a hole in the wooden floor.

Know your batteries, you are in the right place to acquire this knowledge.

All I see is an graphic. Has it been made/sold? How much will it sell for?

It's been out awhile already:

ETA: Since this review, (and others), Steam Crave added TC for stainless. From their website:
Update:

New production version after May-15th add TC-SS temperature control mode(for SS 316L).

I'd already be sold on one if it did 75W. I'm having to think about it at 60.

Unless there's some redundant way to switch off the power than a single transistor, at least. Or we need FDA-approved MOSFETs that always fail open rather than shorted... actually maybe shouldn't joke about that, give them ideas and I don't even think that's possible.

Well yeah, long term cost is low. But you know how it is. People either got it to spend or the don't. Long term vs short term cost isn't always something everyone can afford to consider. That's why I don't have one. I can either afford a Reo, or I can afford to stock up on nicotine base for DIY.

    For sure.

But here's the thing, the ones like some of the earlier Reo are dangerous devices more than (in theory) Dripbox, since they are pure mechs with little protections, heck you can even ruin your batteries with them!
Some bf-mechs don't even come with way to lock the switch.
So learn the game first or barring that, get a regulated squonker, Steam Creaves squonk box is a good, though bit bulky, way to learn the joys of squonking in a safe manner.

Know what you are talking about before spreading misinformation.

Reo's do use a "hot spring" which will collapse and break the electrical circuit should a battery get too warm from a hard short. I've read of hot springs collapsing in a Reo, but I can't recall of a Reo exploding EVER. Reo's are among the safer mech mods available anywhere. I'm a hardcore safety advocate and I have no reservations concerning the safety of a Reo mod.

I'm pretty sure the Reo Grand has a locking mechanism for the fire button. It also has adequate ventilation holes should a battery vent. So that is three built-in protections that most mechanical mods do not have.

All new Reos have both a collapsible hot spring and a locking firing button. Any that don't have been user modified.

Yup... I can confirm the "Hot Spring" works even better than advertised!
I was trying to check the voltage drop using the probes on a voltage meter and clumsily shorted my Reo, the spring collapsed immediately! The battery never had a chance to get hot, just a bit warm.
The battery continued to work normally after a few checks with the VM outside of my Reo.;)

So what was the issue again?
Are you saying mechs CAN'T autofire?
Nah... What I believe he's trying to say is that ALL devices are capable of auto-firing under the right circumstances, contrary to popular belief that Regulated devices cannot/will not because of their electronic features.
But yeah, electronic devices are less likely to do so.

Oh and say what you will but, a dripbox failing like this is a case of a REGULATED device failing.

Ya now we just have to figure out why. Was it a bad button, possibly something the user may have done, did the board go haywire, or a mix of a few things. I'm thinking the board went haywire for some reason as the auto cut off should have kicked in before that could happen. unless the button was messing up pressing and I'm pressing just long enough to not trigger a shutoff or anything else.

One of the issues I have is of people spreading misinformation.

Yeah, a regulated mod is supposed to have protection circuitry. Yet we see from this thread that electronics can fail, so nothing is 100% safe.

You said that because the Reo is a mechanical mod, it has no built-in protection. Yet it uses a hot spring (verified to work as designed by Uncle Psycho), has a lockable fire button, and has adequate vent holes. I'd pick a Reo as being a safer mod than a Kanger product any day of the week.

Not picking an argument with you, but I have a personal pet peeve about people who spread misinformation.
