Wattage display?

Hiya,

How difficult would it be to mod one of your voltage indicators into a wattage indicator? Darwin style? I tried a darwin, and now I'm just totally spoiled. It seems like it would be so simple; ohms law and all, but I don't know enough about electronics.

And how cool would that be; a $50 darwin killer? Without that fiddly wheel or that troublesome swivel joint.

thanks

Actually the ohms are your cartomiser atomiser ce2 whatever the voltage is adjustable on a vv mod like darwin or wantnot...

when you adjust the voltage as long as your device has the abilty to keep up with the current demands the wattage WILL change...

the Darwin just does the ohms reading and ohms law calculations according to the voltage you have it set at...

not really such a big deal IMHO just another gadget to play w...its just a glorified VV mod w a few additions to the display...

I'm currently Using a VV mod running on NiMH batteries. It works fine... I don't care about wattage...I just adjust the voltage to the sweet spot for the flavor I'm currently vaping...and vape away...Who needs a wattage control...the only advantage there is keeping the wattage setting when switching resistance...change to a diff atty/carto the res will be different even on an atty/carto that has the same rating....Even then there will be a difference...hence no need. Why settle for close when you'll have to adjust anyway...Just my opinion mind you I have not tried a Darwin yet but I understand the principal...

is the display of wattage what makes the darwin so desirable? be it watts or voltage, the resistance does not change. if you regulate the input voltage, the resulting watts will stay the same as well. any regulated device does this.

Um that's exactly my motivation. It's extremely simple. And yes that is what makes the darwin desirable. It's the darwin's headline feature.
It's just about never having to bother with ohms law. One less step. Awesomeness.

Also, dirty atties have really jacked up resistance. my 306s get unusably high, then I drop them in a ultrasonic cleaner fulla vodka and they are back to factory new.

regardless if the display is voltage or wattage, the end result are the same. voltage and wattage are quite related.

if you have a 2ohm atty attached to a device set at 4.2v you will get roughly 9watts.
if you have that 2ohm atty attached to your darwin set at 9watts, it will send roughly 4.2v of power to the atty.

the idea of displaying watts over voltage is rather superfluous.

back on the original question, i too would like to know the full capabilities of this voltage meter. madvapes site states "Complete specs will be coming soon but for a start, pin 1 is Gnd and pin 2 is + Voltage in.." and I would like the complete specs:)

Selecting your wattage from a PV is nice but, I can't justify spending $229 plus tax and shipping for a PV
So, I pick an atty say 2.2 ohms and say, hey.. I want to vape at 9 watts today. I crank up "PV Tune" and enter 2.2 ohms and 9 watts and it tells me to adjust my VV voltage to 4.45v as calculated by PV Tune. In 3.0 seconds I'm there.

Is that a phone application? I cannot find it. Even with such a phone application (which sounds really cool), having the desired functionality built in to your mod would just be great.

Because yeah, there's no way i'm shelling out $229 for a mod.

Speaking of simple but singular darwin features, how about some simple LCD battery meters??

I've looked high and low for a meter small enough to fit a tube mod. I guess they are produced specially for the mod creator.
The PV Tune is a tool in the eJuice Calculator, eJuice Me Up. Check the link in my signature.

I am a programmer and had considered designing a better ejuice calculator in my spare time. Never really found one that had all the features I wanted.

Then I found yours and decided there was no sense in reinventing the wheel. Nice job! It has pretty much everything I was going to incorporate into one!

Wattage and voltage... these are just numbers!

Set the dial to the best flavor, measure nothing... you'll be right every time!

So appropriate to your user name :)

That's actually my dominate strategy. I don't have a voltage indicator or a workng multimeter at the moment, because I really just don't care. There are so many floating variables like airflow, residue, etc., that it's a lot easier to just do it by feel.

That's why i loved the infinity. Sooo easy to do by feel.

On the darwin, the same car toe required 12 watts before a trip to the ultrasonic bath, and like 6 after. And my friend had a month-old car toe reading 1.6 ohms that should have been a 2.0. Again, ultrasonic bath completely restored it...

And soon I'll have a madvapes VV box and still no indicator, so hopefully it's got a fairly heavy pot.

actually if you are wanting to know the meter specs this is them: all the pins are paired the meter is really for RC models...Lipo pack batts...the meter hooks to them and displays singular voltage of each pack then the total...then repeats cycle...hence the blinking...its trying to cycle...

I have mine set up to show the battery voltage or the regulated voltage....

At least not one a ugly as the Darwin .... I love its features and have used one for a short time.
But hey its a TV remote with a stupid stupid swing arm. WTF were they thinking?
