thats gona be a tough one to get accurate. low wattage vs high watt and what type of setup and all that jazz will all factor in on how people take drags. Personally I can vape at 1-2second drags or 7+second depending on the setup.

The solution might involve multiple tests to cover the huge range of draw and rest times. But, we feel, almost any decently done pulsed discharge test could be a more accurate way to select the best battery for various setups or current levels than just constant-current (CC) tests.

CC tests are still critically important though for determining the safety limits (temperature) and CDR of a cell.

Well this is why input is needed.

At best current battery test charts are no good for vaping anyways . as the original testers who started doing it were doing it for flashlights and our mods dont run continuously to 2.5 v

As we gather more input we may have more polls coming, thanks for everyone's help and suggestions

Question really only suited when considering whether to use continuous or peak amp rating.

I may be misunderstanding you, but...
Even when deciding between two identically rated cells? Or with cells without a pulse rating? Big debate is...what is a pulse rating and how should we define it? Another poll though...:)

    Well

    That's exactly why.

I don't believe there are identically rated cells.

One could have a peak rating in milli seconds.

The other might be rated for 10 seconds.

So i guess if you're isolating amps as your only spec, yeah.

    But in reality, not exactly.

    You edited.

ETA: we may be discovering the true reveal to this poll. That we need a poll on how many polls it's going to take to cover every nuance.

I think continuous is a misnomer....I vape hard all day and my batteries never even get warm. If you were to hook up an 18650 and run it in your flashlight at max power, it would get warm. We are momentary amp drawers.

    Agreed...
Exactly the reason for our poll and discussions as to how we could best simulate that in battery tests. :)
