I would never post some private information on a web site or forum. It will be in the ether forever and you can't track it down and delete it.

Before retirement, I was a field engineer with a major company. Great job. Stayed there for 36 years and called it quits in an early retirement voluntary out package.

People go to sites like this one to see what different professions make. They have a long list of professions with starting salary, mid-level salary, and top level salary pay. This is a good list to look at if you are trying to pick a profession.

i am a professional poker player,my income can be in a range of -3k to 8 million a year, depending on the cards. I live in a portable shanty house ( the kind they use for ice fishing) that is duck taped (actual dollar store "duck tape" with a pic of a duck on it) to my 1987 ford f-150.last years poker take was the -3k (hence the portable house)if i play my cards right, this year i might be able to install running water somehow in my shanty house.wish me luck!

Good luck man! Do you vape at the tables? If so, maybe your opponents have discovered your "tell"... :)

The day that my blackjack/poker dealer is 100% digital is the day I never gamble again. That's part of the experience to me! I hate you robots! LOL

Better get ready to to hang up the cards soon....I was at the local Indian casino last week....They've got some sort of digital/mechanical blackjack dealer....I don't play cards...and only observed it it for a few minutes...It seems like it uses real decks of cards and scans them at the same time...A mechanical arm deals from the deck...Each station has a video display showing the whole table on each screen...Each player uses the touch screen to make there bets, hit, stand, DD, etc...It also gives a time limit for you to place your bet...Got to admit...It was pretty amazing...

Oh...what do I do?....I'm a carpenter and make more money than I did as a computer systems manager...In my free time...I enjoy annoying people...:p

I'm a tuba player in a Led Zepplin cover band. They let me sleep in the back of our 1964 Ford Falcon tour bus when we are "on the road".

Not trying to hijack this thread,, But this would be "'Get The Led Out" would it?If so ,, Ive seen you multiple times.. Either way ... Rock On!

Im a maintenance mechanic..and own a used household appliance store, .. but the expense rises to meet income.dont forget it.

Nice, quite a few people here from the computer industry :)

I'm a web developer myself (client-side for the most part, which means Javascript, CSS) and financially i'm kind of in the same boat as Dormouse.

But i do and have done some other stuff besides that... I've done helpdesking and SysAdmin work, computer repairs, phone-based tech support... also a lot of Photoshop (and a bit of Illustrator and Flash) and some photography, as a professional graphics guy... but it's more of past life stuff even though i still do some... it doesn't take away from my programming work, as i take both seriously.

I hate robots...

...but I like your signature! LOL - Just recently there was a surplus of lead painted toys from China. Those could easily kill a kid. Hahaha.

Then there was some toy where the magnets got loose, and eating two magnets has caused rupture of the intestinal wall in some kids, when those magnets pull together different sections of the intestine. And that is as bad and deadly as a burst appendix

P.S. And those lead-painted toys, i'm sure there's place for them in China's domestic market... 1bln+ people means millions of kids.... poor kids

UPS driver......make $32 and change an hour. 45 hours a week average....not including peak season (Thanksgiving-Christmas) :( Everything over 40 is time and a half. This year, probably between 80k 85k. Hard way to make a buck, but the bucks add up.

Also, no degree needed. Only wish I would of started at the age of 18. A driver in my center just retired at the age of 55. With paying for health, he is bringing a pension home of 3k a month.,

The most I made was $70K as a project coordinator, but was not happy working in an office. I took some time off and now am a part-time ESL teacher. I am also in school part-time. I make over $20 an hour, already had some savings, and live a simple lifestyle, so it is perfect for me right now. :) I am going to be a linguistic anthropologist when I grow up, but I have no idea precisely what that will entail...

I'd like to do that too (could have done it in Cali) but they make it hard here in Oregon - you pretty much have to go to college 4 years. I'm trying to get a j.o.b. first and then get my prerequisites nights and weekends and finally apply (fingers crossed) to get into the program at the community college -- soo many prerequisites first. I'm already 40, maybe I can get a nursing degree by the time I'm 50

Come to Saint Louis Rosa, Lutheran School of Nursing. They'll get you set up with all of the pre-req's you need and get you fully set up for your RN. Very high reputable school, apparently they make GREAT nurses!
